    The first comprehensive HDR video I have found. Thanks!

    Also: a good idea to set the camera to Av Priority so the depth of each image is the same...meaning, allow the shutter speed to change while f-stop is fixed.

    Nice instructional techniques Joel I very much appreciated you taking the time to not only explain the differences of the different exposures but reinforced the learning with your examples. Thank you

    Awesome video. Just what I needed to begin taking interior real estate photos on my new (intimidating) camera! Not so intimidated now! Thank you. I'll be watching more of your videos! Wondering if I can use flash with HDR shooting?

    • @ozstockman
      @ozstockman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some using flash/light for HDR and then trying to compensate for it in post processing. However the whole point of HDR shooting is to get all highlights and shadows exposed properly compensating on bright lit areas with faster shutter speed and on dark areas with a longer shutter speed. If you are shooting from a tripod during daylight forget about any flash or light. Do AEB shoots with setting you want and you will get a fantastic HDR image later after merging all bracketed shots in something like Photomatix Pro.
      Just remember it cannot be used in an environment where something moves but it can be great for some nature shoots and all interior / exterior architecture shoots can also be done that way.

    Always have the camera save the originals and shoot RAW. Occasionally I like the HDR jpeg the camera creates, but far more often than not I have much better luck taking the 3 RAW exposures and creating the HDR (select the three images and press control-h) in Lightroom. You end up with a RAW HDR image with a great deal of headroom for further manipulation with all the control RAW gives you over things like white balance and color. You can do this simply as well with AEB, but it's nice to have the HDR jpg handy for quick reference and use.

    if I want brighter pictures, what would you put the effect to? Interior real estate shots.

    Can EOS 5d MK IV produce RAW HDR files or just JPG?

    Make sure the top button is set to the "P" option. If you can't find the HDR setting that's probably the problem.

      HDR works in P, M, Tv, Av and M modes, but not in A and B. Also, if DUAL PIXEL Raw is enabled it won't work. Drove me crazy when I accidentally had that one on. There are probably other settings that will not allow you to turn HDR on. in general, when a setting disables another one, it can drive you crazy to find out what happened. Sometimes, you can't even figure it out by going to TH-cam. My focus beep has not worked in 2 years, for example, and other than the basic steps that I already knew about, I can find NOTHING that will turn it back on.

    Do you have a video on auto exposure bracketing?

  • @raphaeltrevisan1733
    @raphaeltrevisan1733 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    When shooting your picture do you want to set your exposure at a place in the middle? And then hdr uses that as a starting point to combine all three pictures?

    FYI. This feature is also in the 5D Mark III. Not just the 4.

    Will the Mark IV shoot HDR in raw format and tag 4 or more separate images with different +/- EV?

    Can you expand the number of in-camera HDR shots beyond 3 for the 5D IV?

    • @pS-sv3pm
      @pS-sv3pm 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      M. James Daley no. Just 3 if you use auto. If you use bracketing, it can do 5. Maybe even 7, can’t remember.

    How to on hdr option in video mode use

  • @ozstockman
    @ozstockman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It seems to be as useless as the same built in HDR modes in Sony cameras. Even smartphones HDR built in are much better than coming from pro cameras. Get yourself something like Photomatix Pro to merge shoots and you will produce much better HDR with AEB mode shooting. It seems built in cameras HDR mode is always going to be very little of an actual HDR compared to what can be done with AEB shooting.

      yeah, but if for some reason you can't spend the time in post production, like if you are at a field photo shoot, it is a neat feature in a pinch.

    i think you got it wrong here..we need photos that trigger HDR mode on the tvs with metadata to get a real HDR effekt.
    you dont get HDR watching these photos on an SDR display
    max luminance is still 120nits or what ever you have on your display.
