The concept and these pics of the event were noble. The execution of the event was a TOTAL DISASTER. The man running this was completely lost & telling people the flower drop was 10 minutes away ..He said that every 10 minutes. Flower drop was advertised as 1pm. WRONG . The program started at 1pm and dragged on for the next 1 1/2 hours in extreme heat. About 1/2 of those attendance left early yet the program dragged on and on. The Flower Drop = a complete anticlimactic disappointment. A few flowers and tons of confetti. WHAT A JOKE AND WASTE OF TIME. The Museum GM needs to hire an event manager….The GM talks too long; ignores losing half the audience; and then only 2 narrow doors to exit. Don’t waste your time or money.
We don't normally respond to these comments. But in context, they need some clarification. The ceremony starts at 1PM. Not the drop. The purpose of the ceremony is to honor the 22 service members that have been lost in this area - the Coachella Valley and their families. It begins with invocation, roll-out of the plane from the hangar with color guard, reading of the 22 names, and the transport of 22 roses - one each from a family member - to the B-25. That takes about 30 minutes. From there it takes about 20 minutes to get the aircraft in the air from the ramp - 5 WWII fighters and the B-25. After that there is a missing man formation with taps and then the flower drop - which takes about 20 minutes. The flowers have no mass so sometimes they make the ramp - sometimes not. It was very hot this year and we apologize for that. We try every year to be clear that the ceremony starts at 1PM. There are multiple exits from the 17-acre 100K foot facility. The event takes about a year to plan with the FAA and the airport. We will feed your comments back into the debrief and appreciate them.
The coolest thing done in Palm Springs. I look forward to it every year. The air museum is awesome!

Yeah I was there and was utterly let down by its execution. I felt bad for roping my wife and kid into this.

What is it with these "announcers" that think they have to scream and shout into a mike? People can SEE what's going on!! Glad I have a MUTE button!!
