I would like to say how gratefully thankful you & the foundation took on these challenges. To showcasen this incredible mighty man's work. Without you & the foundation. These amazing techniques that's pushed the envelope at the time these fantastic statues and everybody else who's involved. Much love!!! The first time I was treated to a Harryhausen film was at my dad's grandad's house and it was the 1957 Sinbad absolutely! Fell in love with the cyclops and then Jason and the argonauts and the skeletons and then at a birthday party they put on clash of the titans. I love Tom baker because he was my doctor who growing up so when I realized he was in a Sinbad movie. Awesome! I like the facts. When he used his powers they would drain from him even though they did do that in Sinbad Eye of the Tiger. If its not broke Don't try & fix it
Thank you for mention me, John. It's an honor to do Packaging Design for this one :) Really love Kali concept and visual from Harryhausen. Respect to Great Harryhausen legacy.
Kali is up there with medusa as one of his greatest creations, like I said before, its the small details that Ray made that makes this figure amazing, the way she looks at each hand as the swords appear one by one is remarkable, check it out and you'll see what I mean. I was lucky to win the Kali figure so massive thanks to John and Connor, so glad as I'm a big fan of the resin figures plus she is my favourite of Ray's creations so I'll be getting this for sure. Great unboxing John, thank you.......amazing
Thanks Jamie. I hope you are getting great pleasure from the fighting Kali. Congratulations on winning that. I agree yes this is a signature piece and Ray would be thrilled to see her in this form.
Another great model: and another informative video. Thank you for not just doing an unboxing, but also an unpacking the film and production history, context and comparison: very helpful. This was my favourite part of Golden Voyage as a kid, and remains one of my favourite parts to this day. I did rip this off mercilessly in a game of 2e AD&D I ran in the mid 90s- but I think the debt (A)D&D owes Harryhausen is already beyond calculation!
That is very true! I had never thought of Grievous but that makes sense now. I think Kali had a decent amount of screen time in the film: like the Cyclops in 7th Voyage, more developed than other opponents. With Grievous, there was not enough of him for me- not enough of Count Dooku in it either, though I must admit I like baddies!
I am so impressed by the wonderful artistry put into these wonderful ray harryhausen recreation's, thank you for another awesome review. I hope to one day own one of these models myself as they are absolutely splendid 🙏✨
Another great addition to the collection❤ after 30 years of seeing Golden Voyage every now and then it took Star Ace releasing this statue for me to realize there were eyes on her palms😅
@@WalshBros What?!? I did not know there would be a draw! I did not write my comment o get something in return, I just find your videos (that I just discovered) extremely well and this particular Harryhausen creature is my all time favourite (ever since I saw the movie in a movie theater when I was a young kid). I did not know that such beautiful reproductions were available! In any case, than you for putting me in a draw and for your wonderful videos! Patrick.
Kali is definitely a character that I would love to add to my collection of Ray Harryhausen figures. This latest version is excellent and I even think I know where I could put it if I was able to obtain one. I always enjoy watching Golden Voyage as it has a perfect cast featuring the inimitable Tom Baker as the villain, John Phillip Law as my favourite Sinbad, and the ever lovely Caroline Munro. But it was always Ray's creations that truly brought the story and the adventure to life.
Yes, it was the perfect marriage of story, style and visual effects. For the time, it was quite daring to have such a strong black magic storyline for a family film.
@@alancalderrawlings7021 thanks for buying my book Alan. If you send me a screenshot of your Amazon review I can send you an art card and bookmark. Email Me here info@walshbros.co.uk
Always wanted a kali statue. When i was a kid in the 80s. Because of this film. Not because of the Temple of Doom. But i did learn about the history of the kali cult Thuggee's after that film.
Definitely 100% agree with you on that. Always thought that for that, what's George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. 100% started with zero and worked all this new material. Books like you pointed out. They definitely I would say borrowed from the classics, but general grievous that is so kali without a Question of doubt. Plus Ray did it first
John do you know what kind of materials Ray Harryhausen did use for the outer mass of his figures? In interviews he often says "rubber," but do you know the name of the rubber or the mass? Today I use polymer clay for sculpting figures but it is not flexible enough to be used for "stop-motion". It would be cool to sculpt a fantasy-figure that can be used for stop-motion,just like Ray did. Greetings from Sweden.

Appreciate the kind words, Dallas. The films are timeless, and we all share those great memories. Thanks for your support.
Kali is a work of art. Happy 50th to Golden Voyage of Sinbad
Thanks. There is a 50th anniversary screeing at the Regent Street Cinema London on the 29th of September.

Your great design work deserves its own book, Christopher. Well done with Kali, one of my favourite box designs.

Thanks. It's a real fan fave of the Sinbad trilogy. Kali has inspired os many creatives. How about General Grievous In Attack Of The Clones?

Yes the advent of HD films has helped us see much more detail.
Kali is one of my favorite characters he made, especially the movements. Nice unboxing as always
Thanks
I want one!!! My favorite Harryhausen creation!!

Great sculpt of my favorite of Ray's creations!
Kali is an incredible model and an amazing copy from the golden voyage of sinbad.
Thanks Ian.
Kali is a must have addition to the Harryhausen collection.
Very true William.
So incredibly beautiful. I always found her to be visually Goddess Korravai the Goddess of victory in warfare...
Bravo. Beautiful

That Kali figure is sweet!! Another nice unboxing.
Thanks Mark.
Another amazing figure from Star Ace, love it.
Beautiful! I made a Kali statue from Barbie dolls with fully articulated arms that I always meant to stop motion animate.
That beats barbie Oppenheimer for sure!
That is very special indeed. Thanks for another unboxing of another amazing figure.
Another wonderful figure from a classic film.
They get better with each StarAce Toy release.
Love that green light🤩
The figure, plinth, diorama and low green lighting are exquisitely faithful to Ray's original. Excellent!
Thanks. It gives me chills with the green lighting, too.
Amazing film ,special fantasy childhood memories.. thanks for the unboxing really is a detailed piece
Yes, the film has held up remarkably well. Timeless you might say.
Long live KALI !!
Kali...always was, still is, and always will be - my favourite!

Thanks Ken. And we’ll done for being first to comment.
@@WalshBros Thank you! That is really awesome for saying so. I really love these figures, however they are a bit out of my price range.
Looks so awesome- in the terrifying sense of the word.
I was scared when I first saw this in the cinema.
A great version of Kali, thank you
Absolutely amazing. One of the many scenes that terrified me as a child! Was wonderful to see all the original models in Edinburgh last year ❤
Thanks for coming to the exhibition.
Another great detailed piece from Star Ace preserving the original Kali from the first movie I remember seeing at the cinema.
Great statue from a wonderful movie. 🙏🏻🏆
Thanks on both counts.

Good choice. The Kali head was seen full size in the film.

Very nice unboxing, as always. I really love Kali. But to be honest, I do like the Supervinyl, fighting Kali a little bit more :)
They are partner pieces. One compliments the other. The fighting one is very dynamic, too.
Commented liked shared. I love her. I loved seeing these at the cinema in New Zealand

George Lucas did say there would have been no Star Wars without Ray Harryhausen. Maybe add an Indiana influence to that list, too.

John, do you know when Kali will be released? Star Ace says in the 4th quarter but do you know when exactly? :)
How durable is polyresin compared to polystone?
Polyresin is stronger and more durable, and less brittle than polystone.
is this a new release one
Yes brand new
Where can you order and how much? $
I have become death and destroyer kratos god of strength greece
Classic movie, nice model too.
thanks.
Can you charge the USB port or do you have to leave the statue on the cord all the time so that it is illuminated?
Needs to kept on electrical or battery connection. The model does not hold a charge.
@@WalshBros ...ok.... THX!👍
@@WalshBros With a power bank it should be possible for the statue to also light up in the display case, right?
