This is exactly what I needed to see this morning! I am currently drawing a self portrait for an art magazine challenge, and I am struggling with my own skin tone, which is pale/pinky/peach. I am literally running back to my art studio to try your method. Brilliant! Thank you!
Wow, the blending of the cheap pencils was impressive. I’d be tempted to use those for layering if I knew they were lightfast. But I guess non-professional pencils aren’t tested for lightfastness. Thanks for the video!
Okay, I need to try this method for my next colored pencil portrait. For some reason, I’ve only ever used those tortillions with graphite or charcoal! Thank you😱
Please post more frequently!!! I recently discovered your channel and your tips n tutorials extremely useful. I absolutely love your artwork and your channel. Keep inspiring and smiling!
You may or may not remember me from 3 videos back but it's almost 30 minutes past 1 in the night here in India and I'm watching your video lol. The technique seems to be great and will surely try it. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
I recently bought derwent coloursoft colour pencil and I was not getting the perfect way of colouring the skin area.... This video really helped me a lot...... Thanks...
I would like if you did a comparison of prismacolor to fabercastel because i own both but i personally like prisma color more and i know you use fabercastel alot so i would like your opinion
I'm gonna try and do this method, apart from layering I still have a hard time knowing my values and tones. For a beginner what do you think is the best method to learning the values and tones with drawing portraita?
Hii... well lol thx for the other vid you did cause that made my drawings better than ever like i have time but just cant colour i can sketch really well but the prev vid helped me a lot
I love your drawing. I’m your fan. Where do you buy the colour pencil and supplies that you use in Australia ? For realistic drawing do you prefer faber castell or caran d’ache ?
I Love your art. Thanks a ton for these tips. ❤️. Almost all of your followers is waiting for the skintone with cheaper Pencil. Since all can't afford the costly pencil. Hopefully you can finish that hard part faster.. we will wait with the patience like watching real time videos..😁 also since you like challenges requesting you to try any landscape like dence forest with your detail drawing.. 😉
Thank you for the nice feedback and suggestion Sharon, I am glad you liked the videos, I have plans on creating a video about different types of cheap pencils, so look forward to that being uploaded soon 😊😊

Printer paper yellows after a few years, its not very achievable, but for practice, its great, I have yet to find paper that works as well as printer paper with graphite pencils, nearly all my grey scale portraits were done on it 😊
I have a question, what type of Fabre castle did u use that’s cheap because I can only find expensive Fabre castles and in ur opinion is Fabre castle, or Prisma colors better. Pls help cause I’m broke :(
The cheap pencils I used in this video was 'Faber-castell Classic' both pencils have there upsides and downsides and the results will very depending on the paper you use, I will be making a video about cheap art supplies and seeing how far I can push them, I hope the video will be able to answer your question more fully! 😊😊
@@Neeyellowart If you do make a video about it I recommend not just saying what the differences are but actually demonstrating them... too many "art" videos just talk about what's different
Perhaps the most important factor for the price of an coloured pencil is the lightfastness. Usually lightfast coloured pencils are expensive. I did a whole art work with cheap school coloured pencils for my channel and they worked actually well. I had more trouble with the cheap paper tbh. But I got it done as I've planned :D
@@Neeyellowart Always a pleasure to see a video about your art :)) You're welcome :) Another one: Koh-I-Noor Polycolors are the cheapest Coloured Pencils with good lightfastness I use them (compared to the Polychromos) they are great :) All the best! :)
Yeah same actually I thought stumps were only used for graphite and we can't blend coloured pencils with stumps Also try the carandache luminance coloured pencils
I have cheap faber castell colored pencils, and to blend with the white pencil is awful, it's REALLY hard to blend, I have a black and a white polychomos pencil, and to blend the cheap pencils with the white polychromos works wonders. I wanna buy the caran d'ache liuminance set, but it costs about R$2500 to R$3000, I would have to sell my soul to buy those pencils lol
Just to let you know you’re using a blending stump not a tortillion blending stumps are more like a solid chunk of paper whereas tortillions have clear layers of paper. I like tortillions much more
this is a genius idea ...i never thought blending color pencil with a stump
Thanks for the feedback Sketch, I found that the method really works well, and has saved me a lot of time in creating my drawings! 😊😊
