    You looking straight into the camera, no, right into my eyes! And saying “it’s beautiful”… I didn’t know I needed that until you gave it to me. Thank you Mike.

    My favorite Martin: My late father's 1963 D18. He played it loud and long and it is a cannon. Every mark on the neck was made with his hands. It is a treasure as an heirloom and an instrument

    My dream guitar (in general, not just among Martins) is a standard series D-28. It is my “holy grail” guitar.

    The best ones I've played are the OM21, D35 and a CEO7. My old GPCPA4 Rosewood was a beast too.

    Very cool video. Had a similar experience. Played everything else out there. Found a guitar i felt had songs in it. Took it to my luthier and had him set it up for how i play, considering he knew me well enough. What a magical experience it has been with that guitar. OM 28.

    I get that the clickbait titles get, well, clicks, but for what it’s worth I’d love an occasional video with a title and concept that isn’t laced with hyperbole and absolutes. I used to get a kick out of all your videos but over time the titles and your approach have started to come off as lacking authenticity. Just be you, Mike, not what the algorithm says will get the most views. That’s why so many of us subscribed in the first place.

    Taylor’s been kicking it lately, so I’m sure Martin needs some kind of response to compete.

      I dunno. I think Martin has done a good job maintaining the same 'classic' instrument they've always had. Taylor makes a superb instrument, no doubt, but I've always loved the clunky thumpy sound from a Martin. I'm more of a folk/bluegrass player when I have an acoustic in my hands, though.

    • @alandfaraway552

      @@andorrasrevenge1683 yea Martin is hard to beat. A salesguy at Gruhns guitars in Nashville said Taylor's have no soul. Once you play a Martin and it opens up it's just beautiful.

    I want to hear the rest of Daniel's song! Great video. I have a Martin B1 bass that I am very fond of. My guitar playing is so mediocre I don't deserve any Martin acoustic guitar. I play a Taylor GS Mini and probably don't deserve it either.

    Martin seems cool . . .I always wanted a Breedlove . . .but I ended up buying a $600 acoustic by Rondo Music by Agile - This was a good episode with Mike, but a trip into Korea, Indonesia, and China will reveal guitars (acoustic) most people haven't tried. I'm sure the best acoustic to get is the Martin - archtops are interesting, too . . .

      I have one hooked up to my taylor gs mini maghgany and it makes it sound so good! of course we after market the pickups in order to attach it but best money i spent for an add on for my acoustic guitar!

    • @manyvibes1540
      @manyvibes1540 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      O. I didn’t know it required a pickup to be installed too. I thought the backbrace inside the soundhole (adhered with tape) sort of functioned as that. Thanks for inspiring me to research it more!

    • @thomasmorgan7944
      @thomasmorgan7944 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@manyvibes1540 it works exactly as you said but if don’t want to install
      A pickup like that they sell for 90 dollars something over the soundhole that is or acts like a pickup.

  • @richardturbine1769
    @richardturbine1769 ปีที่แล้ว

    Re: pickups. Having now owned two guitars with K& K Pure Mini pickups, I would never fit an under saddle again, no matter how over-priced, whoops, sorry, expensive. Quite a few high makers use K&Ks and I can see why; they sound better than any under-saddle to my ears and the only work on the guitar required is a hole for the end-pin jack: they are not hard to drill if you are fairly handy.

    I've loved the Martin 000-15 for a long time due to the tones and my guitar inspirations play that one. However, I havent played that one. I've plated the GPC-2XE and loved that one. Sound and playability was awesome. I played the 000CJR-10E StreetMaster and it didnt feel right to me. Body was too small for my liking. I have yet to play the 000-15 SM to validate it as my favorite Martin. Have also yet to buy one. Played a used SC-10E once too that was awesome. I need to save up a bit more money and spend some time playing the guitars again to determine which one to buy.

    • @GizzyDillespee
      @GizzyDillespee ปีที่แล้ว

      Martin is for bluegrass. For blues, an old birch Harmony/Kay archtop, or an old resonator, will get the right sound a little bit more effortlessly for much cheaper. A Martin can do it all, but you'll pay for it🤣. And you'll have to use your playing skills to make it sound less "rich", less highs and lows, more mids. If you buy a Martin for blues, I'd recommend a smaller one, for that very reason. More punch, more mids, but less volume overall.

Sound-wise I have no comment but have you seen taylors koa wood guitars? They are 1000X more beautiful than this martin. Favourite martin is the D42 again not because it looks good, because it sounds spectacular.
