First time hearing a Martin [in person] was an “oh sh!t” moment for me. Very first chord on a D-28 filled the entire room with so much balance and clarity… I’m a teacher, so it will be a longgggg time before that guitar finds its way in my budget. But I will have one before I die. For sure, D-28 is now my number one dream guitar.
The new Satin D28's are about $400 cheaper. Also, many places have payment plans. I just got my first Martin, it was $2000 and i pay $100 a month for two years approx. You can do it. Also, once you get an amazing high quality instrument, you play it more, cuz it's that much more enjoyable.
I have an OM28 and just love it but honestly any solid wood guitar should be checked out and played, Martins are great but there are others too. Don't get stuck on the name. Take the advice from someone who's been playing for the last 45 years. Happy hunting!
@@tinongtravels7182 D18 is better than the D28 for sure. I prefer the HD28 for its ''reverb like'' character (scalloped braces), but it's more scooped than the D18, which is more middy and more woody dare I say b/c of the mahogany. Anyway cant go wrong with these dreadnoughts.
I went into a store thinking I was going to leave with a Taylor. But the Martin 000Jr (10E) felt amazing in my hands and it had such a rich sound for a small guitar. It's amazing
I own a Martin D-28 and I consider it my dream guitar. No matter how I'm playing it never lets me down. If something sounds less than good or great it's definitely not the guitar's fault. Mine is one of the Reimagined models from 2018. If you look up the artists through the years who have played a D-28 the list goes on and on. It's one of the most iconic models in the history of Martin guitars. Thanks for the interesting video.
Yes I bought the HD-28 with LR Baggs Anthem from Sweetwater, It is my church guitar because it always sounds so good. It has the forward shifted bracing and the open gear tuners.
I recently purchased a Martin 000-42. Such a sweet sound and effortless to play. I totally get why they hold so much magic for players. I love all my guitars but, if I could only keep one, there just wouldn't be any contest, it would be my Martin.
I own a Martin LX1E, also known as the "Little Martin". It doesn't sound as great as its bigger bothers, but the size makes it perfect for travel. I have played it in so many places where I'd never have taken a full size guitar.
I bought my dad a D-41 for his 70th birthday. His first ever, and now I am hooked on wanting one next. The family history is a plus, as was meeting Chris Martin (former CEO of the company) in person recently. Much more than just a guitar, more like a lifelong piece of history and art.
I own the sc-13e special and I just love every minute with that guitar, it just inspires you to pick it up and after playing it you realize that most other acoustics feel super wide in the neck, but that is all about personal preference.
I own a HD28 and I play bluegrass and folk/singer songwriter type tunes on it, 100% flatpicked. Amazing is an understatement to describe it with 13 gauge strings and a blue chip pick.
Great video. I have a D-17 and a SC-13e in my collection. I'm more of a strummer/rhythm player than a lead player, but both of my Martins can handle all different styles. There is definitely an "IT" factor when it comes to Martin guitars. Hard to put into words but easy to put in your hands. Keep the videos coming. Always enjoy watching.
I bought a HD 35 Martin In 1979 and it looks Brand New and sounds better now than when it was new All I’ve had done to it is have the bridge adjusted It’s a beauty with 3 piece Rosewood back and Blonde Mohogony front
The dream Martin I now own is a Martin D-17 Gloss Top mahogany that they stopped making in the early 2000s (not the new D-17s with the stained spruce or shark). The only gloss top and binding Martin mahogany series ever made. It's super warm with a bright shine, and I love it so much! When you're playing it, it sounds super boomy and massive, but as soon as you back away a bit it turns into this really balanced sound. That allows it to fit into a mix without being too muddy, but still have that massive feel. Gotta love that Martin sound!
I’ve had at least 15 different models but now just my favorite two. 1. Martin M-36 from 2012. Best sounding I’ve ever owned .. love the sound of rosewood back and sides. 2. Martin 000-17E Black Smoke from ‘16. Absolutely love the look and feel and play it almost every day. Not the best sounding but my favorite to pick up and play.
So funny you mention the M-36. I picked one up (never even heard of it before then) at a local shop and my heart sunk because I had dropped some serious cash on an OM-28 Modern Deluxe months earlier. I love it but I probably loved the M-36 more. The neck literally just melted into my hand. While I was playing it I noticed another guy, in my space we'll say? lol. I had a hunch he wasn't there admiring my playing. I had to leave the shop to get my kids - called the next morning to inquire and Mr. In My Space (I can only assume) bought it. Someday! Enjoy brother!
In 2008 I got my first job after grad school and I had always wanted a Gibson J-45. I was playing an ancient Epiphone at the time and I decided to treat myself. I could never find a J-45 I liked and the salesman in the shop gave me a D28 to try. It was perfect, bought it the next day. Still have it, never selling. If I were to get another Martin it would be that 000-15M. My dream guitar would be the 1937 D28 Authentic I suppose.
After reading a whole bunch of great reviews and how many people love the Martin 000-15m I went and played one yesterday, didn’t love it. The Martin D-28 blew my doors off. I also tried Martin 18 and 16E they were just ok.
Great video. I have d15, d18 reimagined and a d28. I really like the d18 with the scolloped braces. The 28 doesn’t get much playing time. I just played a 1941 d18 and it was like no other guitar I played, it was stellar.
A long, long time ago (1966) I owned a D-28. It was a fine instrument. Several years later I found a D-41 that was a good guitar as well. But over the years I've migrated to smaller instruments and other makers. I'm really satisfied and playing my dream instruments with the Huss & Dalton 00 and CM models I own now.
Love the sound of the 10k one. With age comes wisdom and in some cases being able to afford the guitars we sometimes desire. I think of it as a nice separate 401k plan that when I leave this world my loved ones can enjoy them or release them back into the used market. Keep up the good videos. I truly appreciate them.
I could not have said it any better about city and colour and the mahogany 000. The entire reason I started playing guitar is because of that fantastic man
My dream guitar is a Martin D-X2E twelve string. I absolutely love the iconic sound of a twelve string and I love Martin guitars although I’ve never owned one.
Thanks for the vid. Love the SC13. I bought a D41 Ambertone from Sweetwater in March of this year at 53 after years of saving up for it. I've played various acoustic cutaways live over the last 30 years or so just plugged in with Piezo pickups. I bought a Fishman Aura box a few years ago and that helped but nothing sounds as great as a well mic'd high-end Martin in a live setting for a one man acoustic act. It has changed my whole stage setup and I shed several pedals and now just use two mics on one stand, and I also now sit to perform so I can mic that gorgeous guitar to give the instrument and the fine folks at Martin guitars their proper due. In the 25 years of performing prior I always stood to play but this is one guitar worth sitting down for and is by far the nicest instrument I've ever played or owned.
I switched from a J-45 to a Martin 000 28 and have been incredibly happy with the move. I purchased both guitars from Guitar Center’s used selection. I highly recommend browsing their used inventory online. I think their employees don’t always know what they have and under price the product occasionally. I super pleased with both purchases and was given a little more assurance with their 45 day return policy.
I spent over an hour in Martin’s picking parlor at the factory, playing all the models they had on display, including a left-handed one. There were only 20 or so, no where near all of the current models. The factory tour is well worth the trip, if you are a Martin fan. I have an HD-28V, D-18E Retro, DM, and an OM-18 Authentic 1933. The OM is pretty much my dream guitar. It is a beautiful guitar and sounds great. I would run into a burning building to save this one! Nice video!
Just buy a GPC-11e and wow ! I always wanted a Martin guitar and I finaly have it ! But being realy rich I would go for a D-42, it is really my dream acoustic guitar.. And also great video Mike !
I envy you being in that room with all the Martin guitars. I have a 15SM and the 15M that you demoed. I particularly like the sound of Mahogany as its dry and woody especially when picked aggresively. It's great for recording too. Would wanna try that 0-18 parlor. Looks and sounds great.
I enjoyed this so much! I'm a Martin guy through and through. I own 4: D-35, JC-16ME, 000C-15E, 000-28 Reimagined Series. They all have their own voice but are all distinctly Martin. I didn't really understand this until I had owned one for a while, then I noticed that when I played another guitar, even beautiful sounding instruments, they didn't scratch the itch of the sound I wanted out of a guitar. That is not to knock any other guitar maker, just my personal preference. Thanks for sharing this video!
Bought myself a Martin D28 four years ago and Takamine thinline two years ago. Haven't been in want of any acoustic since. One is perfect in the room guitar and the other the perfect DI guitar.
My dream guitar was an OM42 Paul Simon signature. Can't justify the money for the way I play but I have a older 1DCE and it still has that Martin sound.

I've owned 26 brand new Martin guitars since 1979. You name it...D-18, D-21, HD-28, HD-35, HD-28 12 string...D'45 etc...not just once, twice but some 3 times over! I sell them 'cause they make me an offer I can resist. Just recently, Norman Harris, Michael Lemmo from Norman's Rare Guitars, stopped by the casa!
So I mean this in the most respectful way!! I really support you and your channel! Not because you’re a guitar virtuoso and showing off your skills but because you seem like a normal dude that’s showing everyone if you want you can pick up the guitar, make music and have fun!! You are obviously talented I’m just saying it means more to me than just someone showing off how good they are!! Rock on!!
Dude that was way cool. My first Martin was a DC16GT-R and that Indian Rosewood back and sides really makes it sing. Still own it after 15 years. Before he died my dad gave me his D-17 which is aged and sounds so beautifully warm. I bought my daughter a sub $1,000 Martin where they're using some compressed woods and it still sings. Now I rounded out my collection with a Taylor 814CE which is just an insane dream. That one seems to bring the best of Martin and Taylor sounds together. But I won't ever sell any of them b/c they all have their place. Great video and you're way talented on the fret board!
Nice Posting, first time I heard a D35 (1976) played that was it! I own two GCPA4R and a 00015SM so that’s all I own but in 2003 I found a 1937 Flattop that was amazing. Played an O18 I believe, little parlor all Koa and it had tone that only Angels can make. Enjoyed, thanks
My father-in-law passed away from Covid. He left me his prized D-28 which was bought used and setup by some unknown master. The action is lower than my Les Paul and the guitar rings like a bell. I never thought I'd be getting the guitar this early, but it's so special.
My first and only Martin is the D15m that I just received earlier this year. My hope is to get a D28 or OM28 one day but for now the D15m just floors me every day. I love it.
I bought a d-35 last year, spent probably 20 hours at a number of local guitar stores playing every high end guitar they had. J-45, a hummingbird, d28, d18, hd-28, etc. The d-35 just sounded so amazing to me, couldn’t say no to it. It’s the best sounding guitar I’ve ever played and I’m proud to say it lives in its case beside my bed 😂
I have found a beaten up D35 from 1973 in a vintage store in Austin that I restored, and that’s the most beautiful sounding guitar I ever played. It’s a bit capricious to play since it doesn’t have an adjustable trussrod, but maaaan…the SOUND! I named her June after Johnny Cash’s wife (who famously played a D35) 😊
I've been playing my DC-16 GTE for almost 20 years now. It is by far, the best sounding, feeling acoustic I have ever played. It is very sensitive to humidity changes so it needs a lot of attention in February and August in New England - but it's totally worth it. Great video. I've gotta say, I'm kinda jealous of you!
I’m not a guitarist but both my wife and son are. She has a 1989 J-40 rosewood that has Martin low end for days. Plays it all the time as a worship leader. She just gave her 1971 000-18 to our son to use in his Nashville recording studio. She bought it new for $300 in 1972. He has an all mahogany 00-15. We just saw a gorgeous GPCe-28 with Baggs Anthem in a shop near us and we’re deeply tempted by her “next” dream guitar. . . but $3300 short on cash. Definitely a Martin family.
We are a Martin family as my father purchased a D-18 new back in 1945. It is not being played by the third generation in our family. Yes martins are passed down as a prized heirloom. But after passing it on I now have a number of Martin guitars that date from my 1870s O-28 to my 2001 D-45 that has that rich driving base sound. My favorite for singing accompaniment is the 1968 Brazilian D-35. With the slimmer bracing it has a wonderful mellow tone that I find wonderful to sing the old songs of the folk era like St James Infirmary and San Francisco Bay blues that I first heard back in 1967 at the Berkeley Folk Festival when the original writer was playing it. I was blessed to be born in 1942 so I lived in a period that the saxophone was surpassed by the guitar in the early 50s. Unfortunately I was in Vietnam during the summer of love. What a time to be alive. I also love the tome of the early steel strings Martin Mede in the mid 1920s. My 0-18 from 1928 has an amazing tone. I purchased it cheap for an old Martin but the neck was overset and it had as tone stealing big bridge. I painted my luthier to bring it back to life and could not believe the final tone and bar fret action after he was done. I live in South Korea and we have a wonderful Martin fan group her with a great tradition of artists playing Martin guitars. My favorite event is playing the wedding song at weddings here. Lots of fun for a guy born in 1942. May not have long on this planet, but right now I am in heaven playing my Martin guitars and I thank Mr. Martin every day that I wake up alive to reach out for another of his creations to play and sing with🎶!
I have a 2021 HD-35 that I love the sound of but the neck is just too wide for my hands. It almost feels like it's alive when you play it. Very responsive and resonates like no other I've ever played.
My favorite Martins: D-35 and D-18. I don't own a D-18, but I have a D-35 that was made in the 1980s (I think) and the center section of the back is Brazilian Rosewood, so it has better-than-average tone. I do not have a D-18, but I hope to get one someday.
I've owned about every model of dreadnought Martin, I think the best is my 1976 D-35. Plays super easy and it is a tone monster! Great for any style of music. Your right d-18 is next in line.
I have two acoustics. A martin dreadnought and a Taylor gs mini in mahogany. The Martin was one that my father purchased over twenty years ago and sounds so cool. Has the older appearance and the sound is very unique.
Hey man, fun video! I made my living for much of my life as a touring and studio musician (all acoustic), and have owned and used a lot of Martins.... D21, D18, D28, D35, D35S, D45, D41, OM16GT, and some I don't even remember. In 2000 I got into Irish/Celtic music in DADGAD tuning and the one guitar that's been the best for me overall for Celtic is the OM16GT which is now 20 years old and nicely broken in. Superb balance and tone, even when played capoed on the 13th fret for some of the Celtic stuff. This guitar just sings and rings when capoed high, yet has unbelievable depth when played open or capoed on lower frets. I get compliments all the time from players who can't believe the sound is coming from the relatively small OM. Perfect studio, performance, and session guitar. I'm also a big Guild fan and still have a wonderful F30R that I bought new in 1971 in Chicago that was made in limited numbers after Guild made a couple for Paul Simon. It's really beat up after a lot of touring but still sounds great. But I'll always be a Martin player.
I knew the guy who oversaw the production of the sc-13e and with both seeing its capabilities and trusting this his work I purchased one, and it’s been my favorite acoustic I’ve ever played since. Highly recommend!
I graduated from my 1966. 000-18 .... Upon the advice of many people, who said "Get a D28 ".... finding one isn't easy! Two years ago I found a 2014 D28 Custom... I'm still walking on air!!🎵🎶🎵
I bought a Martin D-X2E last month. These are on the lower end of the their product line and I was totally impressed with their sound when I tried one last January. It sounds great both acoustically and plugged in my amp; and was very affordable at $649.
Thank you for sharing your Martin Experience with us. I bet it was quite the day. The voice of the D45 got me. Loved it. Currently own an HD28 that I've had for 22 years and a Bourgeois Country Boy (Mahogany) 20 years.
I got the now discontinued Martin OMC 16E burst, ovangkol. I wanted something unique that sounded and felt good in my hands. I played a lot of martins that day and nothing quite fit my hands and sing like that one. The cutaway definitely suits my play style too and I barely noticed any differences in tone as a result. Looking forward to playing it for years to come.
I have owned several nice Martins and currently have had my dream Martin guitars for a few years now. They are expensive but worth every cent. Both 6 and 12 string. I sold a few others on along the way as I worked my way up with some good guitar trades. Previously had a D16e and 000M. Good but not the full house Martin sound like my D35 and the D12-28. #3 is an OMC16e Ovankol with Fishman Matrix electronics for playing out. The Ovankol has alot of midrange punch while maintaining the bass and crisp highs Martin is known for. Something about the upper end Martins that just feel good in the hand and please the ear like no other. Any of the 15 series or above fit the bill for me.
This is a great video,and here's why I love Martins.It's because of personal musical heroes like Hank Williams Sr,The Highwaymen,Bob Dylan,CSNY,Jim Croce,David Gates,Townes Van Zandt,The Eagles,Kurt Cobain,Jason Isbell,etc.Though I don't have an American made model I was very lucky to get a mahogany DX1E,and I'll NEVER sell it.
I have three Martins, D-41, Eric Clapton signature 000-28EC, and the CE0-9 which is made from the Mango tree. I've played the Clapton more than any of the others because of the comfortable size and shape but I can't see getting rid of any of them. Would like get a custom build from their custom shop. That would be my dream acoustic guitar.
Your enthusiasm as a presenter is contagious. Interested in a Martin GPC 16 rosewood as an all rounder. Thoughts? I love the Taylor playability but not the high pitched sound.
I have the original GPC-PA1 from 2010.It’s fantastic - has that great playability you want but with that great Martin sound. Still don’t understand why these were not one of the most popular Martins ever. Also, the greatest pickup system I have heard on any acoustic.
Martin sold tons of ukes when the Uke craze began in the 1920s. they built like a ton of them, and they sound amazing. I love the 15 series too, the 000 is my dream guitar. I own a Sigma copy, someday I might be able to buy the real deal xD the D41 would be another one I would love to own, but dreadnoughts are too big, despite their wonderful sound.
One of the guitars I once owned was a player grade 1965 Martin 00018. I got it on trade and did a complete overhaul - neck reset, refret, new bridge, saddle, and nut, had some cracks repaired, etc. One of the best guitars I have ever played. I have owned over 50 acoutstic guitars and this is one I wish I had never gotten rid of. Some others on the list are a custom shop Gibson SJ200, a boutique guitar called "Grace" amde by Luthier Lyle Crawford that was a koa body, my first "high end" guitar - a Taylor 114ce. I will own another vintage 00018 one day. For now my go to is a Bamburg SJB. If you haven't heard of Jeff Bamburg - look him up. He builds stuff that will blow your socks off.
A couple years ago, I wanted a new acoustic in the $1000-$1500 range. I tried every acoustic in the room in that price range and walked out with the SC-13E.
I have three Martin guitars, a 1993-built D-41 (kind of a “custom build” with an Engelmann spruce top), a 1966-built D-12-20 (round-shouldered, attaches-to-the-body at the 12th fret, 12-string - what George Harrison played on SNL), and a 1955-built 000-18 (by the serial number, it appears to be, like, one of the very first built in 1955, or perhaps one of the last in 1954). They are each great, and different. The D-41 is a very “grand” player, with a rich, wide spectrum, resonant tone. The D-12-20 is a very “jangly,” yet mellow sounding 12-string. The 000-18 is a “banger,” with a very tight, “chunky” tone. I also have a 1956-built Style-0 (solid mahogany) ukulele. It is the very small, kind of “plinky” sounding uke that almost requires wearing a raccoon coat and a straw boater hat to play. In 1995, while at Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, I was given the opportunity to play a pre-WW2, I believe koa wood, D-42, with “snowflake” fret markings - this was “the one” that they kept in a glass case, with fixed lighting. The sales person noted, “there are two, Eric Clapton owns the other one.” Needless to say, that was VERY cool, . . . especially as I am not that great of a player, but the sales person could see that I was a “respectful” player of the many fine instruments - pretty much all Martins - that I played that day. (I was actually in Nashville to argue a case at a special session of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit). I left that day with the D-12-20.
Got a Martin X Series this last year. I bought it used with a Tonewood amp installed. I was surprised the previous owner didn't realize that the backside of an X Series wouldn't resonate like regular wood. I took it off immediately and sold it. Ended up paying for a good chunk of the guitar itself. I love everything about it!
Proud owner of a Martin XC1T ellipse American made prototype. Some may say there are better Martins but for me this guitar is a long time dream come true.
Huge Martin guitar fan. I’ve owned an HD-28 for about 2 years now and I can still hardly put it down. It never ceases to amaze me as to how great it sounds. Absolutely no regrets despite the price tag. Also have a DJr10E and “Little” Martin for travel, and love both for the value relative to their much lower price tag. Would highly recommend any of them - but clearly the HD-28 is an absolute dream guitar for me!
I have a 1995 Martin D-1, made in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. I don’t think the imipramine model I made in USA any more, but I hear they’re still good guitars. My dream acoustic would be a 000-28 or an OM-28, not sure which I would prefer.
the best sounding dread ever made. I have to later dx1 I bought a decade after you. Nowadays i guess the dx2e would be an equivalent. Only one with katalox fret and bridge interestingly. Also no stratabond neck. But I bet it's just as good an axe. At the time I was planning on spending thousands on the guitar but once I heard the dx1 that was my choice for $500. Blew away everything in the stores. 7 store to he exact lol.
City and Colour mentioned! He’s also the one who got me super into those Mahogany Martins! I’m not good enough to justify a vintage one but a nice 00-15M is on my list of dream guitars to own!
Great impromptu video. I have a couple of Martins myself. A ‘96 DM which is nothing spectacular, but it was my first and I STILL love it and play it quite often. A few years ago I FINALLY got my bucket list acoustic. The almighty HD28. It still smells like a cabinet shop every time I open the case. This thing is a cannon and it never ceases to amaze me that that kind of sound can come out of a wood box with strings on it. Although I love all guitars, there’s just some kind of magical “oomph” that only comes from a Martin.
First time hearing a Martin [in person] was an “oh sh!t” moment for me. Very first chord on a D-28 filled the entire room with so much balance and clarity… I’m a teacher, so it will be a longgggg time before that guitar finds its way in my budget. But I will have one before I die. For sure, D-28 is now my number one dream guitar.
try out the HD28 and D35 too if you havent done it yet.
Try the D18, had the opportunity to buy one for myself, had to choose between that and the D28, went home with the D18, just records way better IMO
There’s like a million dollars worth of guitars in this video 😂😂😂
I went into a store thinking I was going to leave with a Taylor. But the Martin 000Jr (10E) felt amazing in my hands and it had such a rich sound for a small guitar. It's amazing
I feel the same about my Dreadnought Jr.
"It's one of the most iconic models in the history of Martin guitars"? The history of ALL guitars.
I’d recommend a D-18 with scalloped braces. That’s the more recorded guitar of all time
I recently purchased a Martin 000-42.
That's my dream martin, are you sure I'm not your dad?😂
I'm turning 70 in June. Hope my son sees this :)
You are a really good son. What an incredible gift.
My income allowed it then, today things are different….but I’m so happy he has his bucket list guitar.
@@rosewoodsteel6656 I was blessed to be able to do so. He smiles every time he picks it up, money well spent!
I own the sc-13e special and I just love every minute with that guitar, it just inspires you to pick it up and after playing it you realize that most other acoustics feel super wide in the neck, but that is all about personal preference.
I just purchased my first Martin, it’s the SC-13e special. I had my first lesson Wednesday and I’m completely in love with and so proud of it.
I own a HD28 and I play bluegrass and folk/singer songwriter type tunes on it, 100% flatpicked. Amazing is an understatement to describe it with 13 gauge strings and a blue chip pick.
I just got an HD-28 last year… speechless. I always wanted a D-28 then I played the HD
@@kjpElectricWizard yep; forward shifted scalloped braces make all the difference
You are so funny dude!
Yep….and got to love a Blue Chip pick!
HD-28. Tried out five different ones and the one I got was the best of them all. Love it.
Growing up a Neil Young fan, a Martin is just THE acoustic sound.
BTW great video, love your humour. As a teacher, love your playing. Feel is one thing that is very hard to teach.
I have been drawn to the sound of D-18's the last few years. They have a nice, clear sound to me and no muddiness.
best guitar in their line-up, I have a 2019 model
My D-35 is Indian rosewood with a Sitka spruce top. I've never seen blonde mahogany before. Are you sure it isn't spruce?
My dream acoustic guitar was the Martin D-41 … and it’s here next to me . ❤😊
D-35, and I paid what a D-45 cost back in 1980.
Love the triple wood back!
M-36 was the studio players go-to in the 70s and 80s. Great balance and recorded beautifully.
The Martin Dread Jr is well built and sports a 1 3/4 inch nut ideal for fingersyle. The model overall is 3/4-size dreadnaught with a big sound
If I may ask, how much did the D-28 cost in 1966?
Love the sound of the 10k one. With age comes wisdom and in some cases being able to afford the guitars we sometimes desire. I think of it as a nice separate 401k plan that when I leave this world my loved ones can enjoy them or release them back into the used market. Keep up the good videos. I truly appreciate them.
I own the M-36 and that's all I need. Great video! Keep up the good work!
Love the M-36, but I wound up getting a J-40.
I bought my D-28 in college and it's still my workhorse. Nothing sounds quite like it. Love your playing! This has been a great video to watch.
Philip I came in possession of a 000-28. Long story. Now I have to learn to play. It's a beautiful instrument.
D-35... I have played many Martins new and old, nothing compares to my 2017 D-35.
I have a 1976 d-35. Its really good too. I think that 3 piece back has a lot to do with it.
I have an x-series (the lowest level martin lol) and even that has a really beautiful tone. Truly excellent craftmanship.
I've played all Martins. But the D-35 has been my favorite since 1973. Try one you'll understand.
I have been wanting to try one before I buy it, but none in any of the guitar stores anywhere near me!
Just bought a 000-17. It'll be my favorite forever.
Have an OM-28. It's my dream Martin. Started with a D-16RGT, and that's a great guitar, but eventually sold it. The OM-28 is just special.
Waiting for my OMJM to arrive. Can’t wait!!
I play an HD16r Adirondack. Everyone thinks it’s a d28 at first because of the herringbone. The vibration of rosewood is soothing
Duuude!! What a dream of guitars🤘🤘🤘🤘 Keep it up bro 💪
We inherited a '94 Martin D-1 about 2years ago. Very affordable dreadnought when it was being sold. Has a very big woody tone. Love songwriting on it.
I have a 2018 HD-28 a 1996 D-42. My D-42 is now 27 years old and is getting that “something” old guitars get. It sounds full, warm, and amazing.
HD-28. It takes me back to my childhood and has that classic Martin sound that I love.
The Martin CEO-7 is my dream guitar. I’ve played many Martins and that little guitar can do it all.
Thought you were a Taylor guy... I have a 71 Martin D-41 that I bought in the mid 80s from Norm's Rare Guitars. It's my dream Martin.
I’ve wanted a 000-15 for many many years, I’m so glad I finally got one....
You can email Martin with the serial #and they will send you all the info and specs on your d35
@@rosslynemrys5829 Thank you. I will do this.
I've owned about every model of dreadnought Martin, I think the best is my 1976 D-35. Plays super easy and it is a tone monster! Great for any style of music. Your right d-18 is next in line.
Great video! I love the smell of Martin guitars. That looks like it was fun.
I have two acoustics. A martin dreadnought and a Taylor gs mini in mahogany. The Martin was one that my father purchased over twenty years ago and sounds so cool. Has the older appearance and the sound is very unique.
Well that D45 was sweet. I have a Martin Authentic 1947 D28 and a 000-28EC Eric Clapton signature series. Love em both.
Thanks Mike. That was fun! Thinking about buying a Martin. The hard part is which one.
I graduated from my 1966. 000-18 ....
Upon the advice of many people, who said "Get a D28 ".... finding one isn't easy! Two years ago I found a 2014 D28 Custom... I'm still walking on air!!🎵🎶🎵
Mike, keep with the Clapton stuff! You are good at getting it!
I bought a Martin D-X2E last month. These are on the lower end of the their product line and I was totally impressed with their sound when I tried one last January. It sounds great both acoustically and plugged in my amp; and was very affordable at $649.
I’ve got a ton of them and my 2 favs are the CEO-7 and my burst dread Jr.
Thank you for sharing your Martin Experience with us. I bet it was quite the day. The voice of the D45 got me. Loved it. Currently own an HD28 that I've had for 22 years and a Bourgeois Country Boy (Mahogany) 20 years.
My hd-28 is the guitar I've always wanted, and I can never put it down
I got the now discontinued Martin OMC 16E burst, ovangkol.
I just love my 000 15 m out of the 6 I’ve owned. At 65 I had to choose one acoustic and one electric. The 000 15m was my final acoustic choice.
2006 HD-28. My baby Rosy - that sweet Indian rosewood smell is there every time I play her.
Great comment!
Tyvm man 🙂
I have three Martins, D-41, Eric Clapton signature 000-28EC, and the CE0-9 which is made from the Mango tree. I've played the Clapton more than any of the others because of the comfortable size and shape but I can't see getting rid of any of them. Would like get a custom build from their custom shop. That would be my dream acoustic guitar.
I love my new D18! Ive owned a couple from the 60s but i think martin is doing their best work now.
Just remember the first strum you hear on a brand new Martin is the worst sound you will ever hear out of it!!!! It only gets better from there!!!
The sound of that 45 man. Great video mate. The 000-15m was my budget but I absolutely love it
I liked that “every song I’ve ever written” tune. You should develop that. I think my dream Martin is a 0-15 in all mahogany.
Anderson’s do a good video on these, I’m with you
I have a 84 D35hb. Love it.
A couple years ago, I wanted a new acoustic in the $1000-$1500 range. I tried every acoustic in the room in that price range and walked out with the SC-13E.
Is that a Martin SC-13E you are talking about ?😊
I have three Martin guitars, a 1993-built D-41 (kind of a “custom build” with an Engelmann spruce top), a 1966-built D-12-20 (round-shouldered, attaches-to-the-body at the 12th fret, 12-string - what George Harrison played on SNL), and a 1955-built 000-18 (by the serial number, it appears to be, like, one of the very first built in 1955, or perhaps one of the last in 1954).
Yes Martin's are very nice. I'm just happy to see you playing an acoustic
I bought a D-18 a few months back after I returned the Gibson j-45 I purchased... best decision I ever made !
Proud owner of a Martin XC1T ellipse American made prototype. Some may say there are better Martins but for me this guitar is a long time dream come true.
My names Mike, I wear a Fedora and I love parlor guitars. I don’t have one and I’ve never played solo in a coffee shop lol but well done
Hi mick did you have your hd28 properly set up? I love my hd28 but disappointed in the high action it came with .
I’m rockin the Martin backpacker!! Everyone asks if it’s mandolin or something!😂 Sounds great even after I repaired some crush damage! 🎶
Oh that double neck acoustic Mayer played for edge of desire on his tour would be a dream to play❤
