NYC Walk : Industry City & Sunset Park Coast in September 2022

  • The Sunset Park coast is full of history with its industrious past. Formerly known as Bush Terminal, the entire area was an warehousing and manufacturing complex. However, many structures have been transformed into office spaces, common courtyards open to the public, Japanese Village, and food hall. As I walk past the Costco Wholesale, I explore the coastline into Bush Terminal Piers Park. There, I find a beautiful park and hiking trails with gorgeous views of Manhattan, New Jersey, and the Statue of Liberty I never experienced before. Afterwards, I walk through the Sunset Park warehouse buildings to 4th Avenue.

    Another great video, very interesting, very lively. Thank you for showing us places in the city where only you go. You are the only one to show us these neighborhoods. You found a nice and hidden place with this coastal trail. The view with the city in the distance was awesome! Thank you again for this great video. Your videos are always full of surprise and unexpected things. That’s why they are so great!

    3:10 This is a nice Japanese Village, and I like the lantern decorations and food options. 8:03 The food hall reminds me of Chelsea Market but less crowded. It's cool to see the industrial warehouses are transformed into trendy spots. 😎 25:34 The adventure begins here, and I really enjoyed seeing the old industrial buildings at the Bush Terminal Piers Park. 🤩 36:35 Hiking trail and 38:17 amazing views! 😍 Your curiosity always leads you to fascinating places, and that's one of the reasons why I enjoy your content! ❤ Thank you for sharing this relaxing adventurous walk in Brooklyn, AK! 🤗

    The Gowanus was an elevated railroad prior to the 1940’s. It ran on 5th Ave to 39 st, then came down to 3rd Ave and stopped at around 65 st.. it was converted to a 4 lane highway and then a 6 lane highway which led into the new Brooklyn-Battery tunnel.
    Industry city has been going since the turn of the century when produce was received from rail cars that were floated across the river and unloaded in Brooklyn and distributed from there. The area had many Norwegians, polish and Irish immigrants in it at the turn of the century. In the late 50’s Puerto Ricans started moving into the area and currently it has a large Mexican, Puerto Rican and Asian population. Sunset Park and the Green Wood Cemetery are the jewels of the area. Many of those homes are well worth over a million dollars each! The Firehouse at the end of the video is Engine 201 and Ladder 114 and Battalion 40. Ladder 114 is about to celebrate 125 years of service to the people of Sunset Park. Tally Ho!

    AK- Thank you for the beautiful and peaceful walk through Sunset Park coast. The building (a hidden restaurant mall) in Industry City was interesting❤️. One would never know that inside is a bunch of stores/restaurants. If you would have walked a block up at the end, I could have probably seen my mom’s house or her who knows.🥰

    2 months ago, when I went to the Marine Park and Gerristen Beach, I thought those protected nature area nobody will go in, but when I get in, I am wrong. There were actually some people bringing the bicycle, fishing tool already walked in and catch fish.

    Please start using a low cut filter, the wind noise is so extremely bassy and my whole room is constantly vibrating. No one needs those super low frequencies on a walking video anyways.

    • @EphemeralProductions
      @EphemeralProductions ปีที่แล้ว

      Possibly you could turn down your bass, until AK achieves that?

    • @TheNitpicker
      @TheNitpicker ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EphemeralProductions my bass is absolutely normal, and sure I could do that but that's not the point.
      And it's nothing someone has to achieve, it's as simple as dragging a filter over the audio of his video.
      It was a general tip, he should have done that years ago. Especially since he doesn't use any sort of protection against wind noise. Preventing that is almost rule number one for audio outdoors.
