    I find a Lorn video and I say "this is so good, it's my favorite", then I find another and the same happens. They're something else, they really have something to express. True art.

    This particular piece reminds of the struggle to remain sane in a world of pure absurdity and hypocrisy. The fight to protect yourself in a system bent on breaking you.

    this is from a interview with Lorn
    LORN: I grew up surrounded by alcohol and drug addiction, no father, tossed around between family members. I was taught I was a piece of shit by racists in Arkansas. My older brother cut my middle finger off with an ice skate, beat the shit out of me, and later threatened to shoot me in the head with his Glock.
    I moved around a lot, went to three different schools, always restarting as a stranger. I learned to hate cops fast, spent a year on probation after being arrested for graffiti. Sucked at school, could never and still can never concentrate too well, nearly failed high school had it not been for some art awards I won. At 19 I was institutionalized against my will, met people who hadn’t been outside for 15 years because they weren’t allowed.. met the same people for the first time again and again every morning who forgot everything because of their shock treatments.. eventually got myself out. After that shit I quit school, took acid as I mentioned earlier and put everything I had left on the line into music and here we are.

    Whoever makes these songs have a different look at reality

    • @Dragoneer
      @Dragoneer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I connect with this...if I ever had the skills Lorn has (which will probably never happen) I wish to express my similar views on how I see reality and life as is using different forms of art. Both visually and audibly, so that people will at least better understand why I am the way I am...

    • @Dragoneer
      @Dragoneer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Fox1190 Essentially...that’s the same thing as what I said before. Reality as we know it is determined from our own eyes, and at that, it’s really up to your own interpretation what that _actually_ means to you. That’s what makes each one of us unique from the rest. That’s what separates us from mindless clones to conscious thinkers. It is perfectly normal to ask questions about this, as we are programmed in a way that we need to find the answer to everything.
      When you look at reality you inevitably question it. Because “reality” per say is merely ones existence in the world, and it goes by quite easily unnoticed because it’s all we’ve ever known. But when you really home in on it, there’s never an easy answer. For me, at least...because one question always seems to lead to another.
      If this sounds at all confusing, I understand. It’s not something you can put into words easily. That’s why I wish to express this “perception of reality” into different forms of art so that people _will_ understand me. That’s what I meant from my first comment you see...

    • @Dragoneer
      @Dragoneer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Fox1190 Sorry about the wall of text. TLDR there is no reality without existence, one is collinear with the other...

    • @Dragoneer
      @Dragoneer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fox1190 Ahh, so you’re a student too. As am I - I feel your pain in that respect. In fact, I kinda blame my love for writing as a result from my lengthy career as a student, so first off; thank you for appreciating what I say (not many do you see).
      I probably could have made what I said a little more clear, but it’s kinda difficult when there really _is_ no clear answer to what reality actually is, because like I said it’s all down to ones own perspective. How I perceive reality will be different to how you, your friends, anyone else reading perceives it. Maybe similar and we can generalize as such, but no two viewpoints will be the same really. Listening to music as such almost always influences such questions. Lorn has some brilliant music for losing yourself in your own imagination, which is a great form of meditation. Definitely helps you to regain a grip of reality, as this can be so easily lost without you even realizing...I also suggest listening to Tourist, Washed Out, and Chrome Sparks for more of this kinda stuff...
      P.S. yeah, actually, I did realize what you said sounded a little disordered. But I didn’t think much of it till you mentioned that numbering system. That’s very interesting...
      Oh, and you don’t simply “quit” being an artist, believe me. For a true artist, it’s a state of mind. Maybe quit expressing it, but you’ll always hold the same mindset. I thought the same for a while when I took a leave from writing short stories, but I found my passion for writing stories as such kinda transfused itself into writing essays for my studies. Being an artist is a natural talent, it’s not something that you leave behind, its something that makes you you. Good luck for the future my friend, and definitely keep meditating every once and a while. Does wonders for your mental health, believe me...

    • @Dragoneer
      @Dragoneer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fox1190 By definition, yes. If that definition solely means “a fan of anthropomorphic characters”, because the internet has definitely poisoned what it means to be part of the fandom. Hmm I wonder how you figured that one out...lol...but yeah, I was gonna ask the same thing when you posted the paws emoji in your last comment. That definitely raised my suspicions haha. I’ll admit that I _did_ believe I was otherkin for a while (this was years ago when I was a young dumb teen) until I realized how unrealistic and utterly absurd it was to even consider myself as such...although I still wouldn’t regard myself as entirely human, not by comparison anyways. I cease to think of otherkin/therian ideologies as nothing more than nonsense to make you feel special and unique (which in hindsight is all it really was for me). I do believe in spirits and good/bad energy, but they can’t carry an identity like which species they’re from, nor can you pick and choose - that’s just stupid to me. But if you believe otherwise, roll with it, because what I say shouldn’t matter y’know. Nice to see another one of us in the comments though :)
