For “Yesterday’s Pain” I like to imagine this describes the story of a man who finds himself brought back from the afterlife by mistake into a parallel world where everyone is dead. He walks around wondering where everyone is and trying to comprehend what the fuck just happened. Meanwhile, a mysterious figure who is clearly the grim reaper is chasing him down like a law enforcer pursuing an escaped convict. The man notices a strange faceless figure in a black cloak and flees unnoticed finding somewhere to hide. The figure appears to sense his position and follows him, slowly lingering like a bad smell. He watches from a distance as the figure moves through this abandoned middle-eastern style village. As he darts from building to building, suddenly at 3:11 he sees the scene of his death and realizes it’s preventable. But he only has a moment in time before death catches up to him. Slowly the sun begins to set and day turns into dusk, the light signifying his life slipping by. The wind begins to pick up as dust is picked up with it. Death eventually catches up to him and what follows is a battle between him and death. It abruptly cuts to him laying on a hospital bed between this fighting for his life after what’s revealed was this huge car accident; a hit and run. Hence being yesterday’s pain. Lots of jerky camera movements and short cuts illustrate the chaos of the moment. It cuts back to the scene and things go in slow motion as the car slams into him. Simultaneously you can see the grim reaper strike him with his scythe in the background but out of focus. The song ends abruptly, a lot more so than the original, and fades out to the sound of a flatlining monitor and the faint sound of a murderous laugh that’s badly distorted…
I have a really messed up imagination lol. I wish I had the skill to put these thoughts into some sort of animated piece but I’m lacking in motivation…
