I started out by trying Vadrok in a Feather deck, but wasn't too impressed by the results. One card that did perform well in that deck was Sprite Dragon, especially alongside Arcanist. When I switched to a more focused Mutate deck everything seemed to be flowing a lot better. Callous Dismissal is tailor-made for the Jeskai Mutate archetype, as you will see in these games.
Don't know if you found this already but season of growth and mutate work very well together! Might help with a deck idea idk. Great video though, keep up the good work!
As said at 29:30 does Teferi really stop Vadrok from casting if you trigger his ability main-phase? I know Tef stops arcanist but he casts during the combat step, what about Tef stops Vadrok (again assuming mainphase mutate)?
I wonder if playing just 1 or 2 Feathers instead of a full playset can be good in this deck? Basically, do not overly rely on feather, but play it as a support card that can occasionally stick around and win the game by itself.
THIS is the mutate deck I've been looking for, can't believe I overlooked callous dismissal, was aware of the amass/mutate synergy but couldn't decide how I wanted to abuse it, and callous is just what the Doc ordered.
This is a really interesting take. I focused more on the 3 spell side of vadrok, with brining in different cards for free like teferi, and using a new narset to keep the spell burn going, but it was so focused on instant speed removal like mythos of vadrok, and raptor hunt i had a weak early game against non creatures. So this is gaving me a few ideas. Thank you.
I've been playing some Izzet mutate. Teferi's Time Twister on a mutated creature returns them all separated with a +1/+1 counter. It's great against board wipes.
hi lvd, i am your first opp playing nox's song of orcale turbo mill. but never found green to cast anything. love what you built. keep up the good work!
Hey nice vid. My brother really likes all the kaiju but Rodan is his favorite. So when I told him about them coming to mtg he got excited and I thought it would be a nice set to get him into magic. Any way last night I stayed up late brewing with the new cards. I ended up with a very similar deck as you with drake as another win con but yours is definitely better. I definitely slept on callous dismissal it looks so good in these games
Now people, Can anyone explain how does Lvd have only 60k subs? He makes the best mtg content, is very talented and original and is a gentleman player. He is the only guy haven't got bored off. Guys, give him more support please.
Look at the Polywog Symbiotes name at 10:55 lol. Wait it happens multiple times, surely that's editing and not just a thing that happens on Arena, right?
@@LegenVD Yeah, I looked into it and it turns out there's a bug on Arena that will turn a creature's name into its flavor text on the stack whenever it mutates. Just some spaghetti code I guess.
Fun deck! MTG Arena needs more decks like this one. Getting mighty tired of all the jeskai fires and lurrus decks running around. Even mono-red seems non-existant at the moment compared to these two decks that I keep facing off against in every match I play.
Watching this made me wonder if the extra information presented to the opponent of someone running a companion is enough to offset the advantage of deckbuilding with a companion... I know that kaheera (or however it's spelled) being companion to a control deck is kinda weird, but for the most part it does seem to help inform Mulligan discards when you know right away what your opponent is up to.
The information is not negligible, although some companions are much harder to narrow down than others.

I have been playing Jeskai Mutate in standard for several months. The deck really hurts from not having access to a 1-mana protection spell like Gods Willing or Dive Down. We have like two or three different green ones, but not a single one in Jeskai… 😢 Still, when Strixhaven rolls around I'm going to slot in a bunch of Rip Apart and Prismari Command. Should be fun
@@LegenVD thanks for the reply. I know that :) what I meant is which deck would still work better when some of the cards from M20 and war of the Sparks rotate out of standard in Q4? Is there any real way of telling? Sorry for bugging you. Iam new to the game and don't have that many wildcards to spend
@@clood0814 No real way of knowing what future sets will bring. The Mardu deck will lose some of its 1-drops, the Jeskai deck will lose some of the cheap interactive spells. If they don't get good replacements both decks will need to change significantly.
Callous Dismissal doing work! Amass and Mutate have such nice synergy, this is an amazing deck. Have you thought about a Mutate deck with Dreadhorde Invasion? Or is that card just too weak? What about Dreadhorde Arcanist?
I played Arcanist in the Feather build. It was ok, but it does empty your graveyard so there's some tension with Vadrok and Drakkis. You probably still can't play too many spells that cost more than one mana, even if a Mutated Arcanist can get back bigger spells.
Hi, thanks for the good content, do you think this deck is tier 1 or 2 ? It seems like he against most of thé meta decks. Because I think I would craft it with all my wildcards potentially. And what would you put in the sideboard ? Thanks again !
I used this deck and had 3 wins out of 4 in platinum rank. One quick question : are the rare double mana lands worth it ? Like steam vents ? Cuz im rockin only one por each combination
You don't want 5 lands in this deck. 4 lands are fine, and lutri is not a good mutate target. He's unplayable as a companion and he's just not good enough as a normal card in your deck.
Legenvd I love your videos man I cant get enough, unfortunately the computer I have now cant run arena but I gotta ask. 1 does arena have a commander (edh) option? 2 do you play commander at all and if so what is your favorite?
It's possible this deck would be better as straight izzet, planning to only mutate vadrok. I think that something like mystical dispute or aether gust is probably better than the god's willing. (rip white)
MY biggest complain with the apexs and specially the apex of the hunt is why did they give them such awesome animations on hard cast but 0 animations on mutate, apex of the hunt is my fav animation by far from the new set but I only ever get to see it on limited and even then your better off mutating most of times. Sad.

I like how first strike gives you the chance to say gg 😂
I play Role Reversal in my Vadrok deck. Its pretty fun when you trade your 1/1 zombie army with the opponents creatures like Uro.
First thing i thought about when trying Vadrok is Teferi, i guess i need to think more out of the box like you do haha
Either you only show the games that you win, or you are truly the God of this game. You are soo good dude
I love your vodeos Legend! Always look forward to them. Great insightful commentary really helps me relax during these anxious times

Sky Cats, Dino Cats, then Thundercats up next?
Corona Cats
Hooooooooo!!!

I love that LVD is the only mtga streamer doing voice over only. It helps so much alongside the clean board.
I love your decks and thoughtful gameplay. Keep it up!
Was excited to see the video. Too bad Feather didn't work out, but this still looks very fun.
Super fun deck! Nice!
The callous bounce house
Raugrin seems really good I'm definitely stealing this deck thank you lvd!

Not my doing.
@@LegenVD Yeah, I looked into it and it turns out there's a bug on Arena that will turn a creature's name into its flavor text on the stack whenever it mutates. Just some spaghetti code I guess.
Godzilla names are essentially flavour text, thus the bug
And here I thought this was going to be some new Dinosaur Tribal, oh well, still as enjoyable as always.
This deck looks really fun to pilot.
I'm a simple person. I see a Jeskai decklist that can hold on its own without Teferi and I immediatly wanna try it.
12:20 "It always knew it was destined to be more than a frog" some nice flavor text there by WOTC :) or is it your doing?
It's a bug I've seen elsewhere. Very strange.
great deck
This deck is amazing
Amazing deck as usual Legend. I'm crafting
I would recommend trying out Rally of Wings in this deck. Tested 2 copies and it was amazing, not sure what to take out though.
I chuckled when the opponent at 36:00 activated their tinstreet dodger's ability on am empty board.
Seemed weird, but maybe they were expecting a Spectral Sailor to be flashed in?
Haha that makes more sense - I just thought they were goofin'

Anyone else notice the wierd title of the ability card to the right at 12:17?
It seems the game used its flavor text
looks neat but i never could get it off the ground, got stomped pretty hard by aggro and control
Would nominate Dismissal for the card of the video lol
Great battles as always, will we see some nice bo3 content in the near future?
I support this channel becoming a cats channel instead

It's probably too soft to Teferi to compete at the top.
Teferi's Time Twist might've worked if we didn't have this much +1/+1 counters.
What are the differences between this game and LoR? And also, does MtG on the PC takes weeks to finish one match?
Haven't played LoR so can't compare.
Kinda funny how some people concede so quickly, like they can already sense that they're about to lose and are already hovered over the concede button
LVD, the correct name for this deck is THUNDERCATS
Gotcha

First time I know that protection can't answer sweeper spells.
It protect from the damage based ones. Because red can't have nice things.
Protection cant protect to "destroy all" effects, unless its "all monsters take X damage"

The powerlevel in Standard is currently very high. This deck isn't doing anything unfair and it doesn't have a companion, so probably not.
