Watching this as I am waiting for my flight at Haneda, I can say this not only summarized how a shinkansen works. But made me wish I can stay for an extra week (Tokyo alone takes a minimal of 2 weeks). Seriously, if you want to go to Japan, just save up and go, you will not be disappointed
My first time on this bullet train was amazing. My mother being Japanese and her family living in Tokyo gave me the privilege to ride one. I loved Tokyo. I want to go there again.
At first, I really am astonished with footage of the Shinkanzen stations and train. Wherever you walk, what gets caught in my eyes is how everything is spotlessly clean. Signs are everywhere to lead you to the direction you need to go. As for sitting on board, no noise and so quiet, so much fun. Excellent way to travel in Japan. WOW, I'm amazed!!! And trains leave and arrive on time, to the second! I'm speechless, really. Thumbs Up!
World class technology that has been copied in China, Russia, and even here is Britain with our newer Inter City trains. Japanese technology is way ahead.
@T.A. DuFine It never happens in USA cause you need to have enough social values and socialistic politics to improve the public infrastructure, USA airlines are afraid of loss if they develop trains. USA is too capitalistic and too right wing, you need to have more left wing politics to develop anything public. They are not funding illegal immigrants and no funny business about welfare recipients. Are you really aware of what is going on? :-)
@Trevor Jones Hey, I don't want to be a dick but I would like to point out that the Russian HS train is manufactured by SIEMENS and is based upon their Velaro platform witch is in no way shape or form copied from the Japanese Shinkansen which is manufactured by Hitachi and Kawasaki Heavy Industries. Great Britan has multiple "High speed" services in operation the most notable being the Eurostar and the Azuma service. Azuma's rollingstock is/was manufactured by Hitachi (the same guys who produce the Shinkansen...) and is based upon the Hitachi AT300 platform. The Eurostar Rollingstock (which is currently the fastest commercially operated rollingstock in Great Brittan @ 320km/h or ~ 200mph) was manufactured by SIEMENS and also based upon the Velaro platform. So the only country witch "copied" anything would be China but that is still debatable because most of the rolling stock in China is produced with technology sharing agreements or with parts from foreign companies such as SIEMENS, Bombardier, Hitachi, etc. (Witch is not unusual) Just by the ways the SIEMENS Velaro platform could already operate at over 350km/h in 2007 witch is already a good indicator of how competitive the entire HSR marked is. While Hitachi is one of the leading companies it is not the only company that produces high-speed equipment. A notable mention is Alstom which produces the TGV, AGV, Pendolino and other trains. (The new USA Eastcoast Avelia Liberty HSR uses Alstom rolling stock.)
@@haraldrutsch8169 the problem is these advanced Japanese trains are no good on the crumbling railway infrastructure in the UK. These trains can't work at the speeds they are designed to run at. Thank you for this video, and in fact, all of your videos. They are a great way to see real life in Japan. I enjoyed seeing what it is like on Shinkansen, and I appreciate you showing the washroom facilities as well. I have never been on a train! I found it fascinating when another Shinkansen passed your train at great speed. Awesome! Thank you! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Many, many years ago I was stationed on Guam. My wife and I took a trip to Tokyo. I was a low level enlisted man so we could not afford a Tokyo hotel. We stayed in guest housing at a nearby AF base and took the local train to Tokyo each day. One day the train just stopped part the way there. They made an announcement over the PA, but of course we could not understand. Fortunately there was a young college student sitting next to us. She was taking English in school and explained our train had hit a cow. Some things are the same no matter where you are. We loved Tokyo.
I stopped counting the ingredients in the bento.... 20 plus items all for under 10 bucks. Here in Australia, you get cheese and crackers and a pepsi for the same price on the train.
same in Ireland to be honest, on the trolley it's just pre-made sandwiches, crisps, chocolate bars and tea/coffee that's about it really, the prices are very expensive and they turn over staff like crazy, some staff are really nice but alot don't care at all

Your videos are wonderful, and I particularly love this one! I am getting to see such a close-up experience of Japan, one that I doubt I will ever see in real life. Thank you so very much. Greetings from Florida. The Japanese snacks have to be works of art, truly amazing and beautiful ways to present food. Also the variety is fantastic. Of course the trains are incredible too. Keep up the great work!
Well..the Shinkansen would be the goal of Amtrak, so we have quite a way to go here in the US. Our biggest problem is far to many grade crossings and the rights of way for long distance trains. The scenic routes are beautiful, but with so many twists and turns, speed is hard to maintain, not to mention the shared rail lines with freight traffic, which takes priority.
Speed isnt hard to maintain on a bullet train. Each carriage has driven wheels. But yeah the japanese dont bother going up or around mountains, they just tunnel straight thru hahaha its an experience to be travelling so fast and have your hot tea cup sitting on the tray table full to the rim and it not even spill on a 2 hour trip ;)

Love your style - every vlog is very informative - captions are in large print; this is how I relax in the evening....watching your vlogs are a real pleasure & make me determined to visit Japan when this virus is completely under control! Thank you for the great travel logs!
I love these videos...mom has ridden these trains when she visits Japan, but the only train I've been on is the Amtrak from Santa Barbara to Santa Ana. I love riding the train and watching us go by all the traffic we could've been stuck in! LOL Thanks for sharing! XO
I just subscribed to your channel. I appreciate how well you described everything in detail. I’ve traveled through Europe, but not in Japan. Have a good weekend.
Thank you. I enjoy videos of train rides in various parts of the world. Nice pictures (and well done) of the food, making it easier to imagine what it's like.
Japan, China and Europe are so far ahead of the U.S. when it comes to travel by train. I have had the pleasure of traveling by train in both Japan and Europe. Would love to make it to Beijing one day.
There's just something so relaxing about riding the shinkansen, enjoying a bento and the view. Hopefully one day I'll get to ride on it again with plenty of bentos.
Wow, I'm looking forward to riding the Shinkansen next year on my visit. I'm particularly impressed with how clean and graffiti-free the cabins and the toilet areas. It's like being in an airplane, but smoother. This video so relaxing to watch.

"what is transportation like in your country?" My friend, you do not want to know the sorry state that is transportation in Florida. The only way to really get around is by car, because everything is too far away and our public transportation is an utter disgrace.
Florida’s transportation is exactly what Florida spends on it. It has enough population centers to support a more robust public transport system, if that was what the people wanted.
There was a time when rail transportation in America was somewhat appreciated and well-used, but regulations, robber barons, bottom-liners and unions conspired to destroy a once viable rail system in the United States. Not so in Japan, as this video and others like it clearly demonstrate. Over time, the Japanese improved their rail systems to a point that it is apparent it is a joy to rides the rails anywhere in the country. Excellent stewardship in Japan, on and off the rails. Wish I could go there ....
Miami tries, you can at least get some places. For intercity transit though you are pretty well-served with Amtrak going to most of the major cities twice a day, and once for Tampa route. (aside from the panhandle since they closed it after Katrina). Brightline is also nice and will be *very* nice when it's finished all the way to Orlando, though it sucks that it won't serve the town proper and will instead stop at the airport.
i love riding the Shinkansen! i haven't tried the Green Car or Granclass yet though, but the ordinary class is already comfortable even for a large person like me 😅
I love your stuff so much. You make the most calm and relaxing travel videos ever. These are allowing me to dream of travelling whilst I'm stuck at home ❤
Lauren E there are plans of building a Shinkansen from Houston to Dallas and maybe Austin to Houston. It would be amazing! Literally 20-30 minutes to get to each location. I agree with you 100%, I wish we had bullet trains here in the US!
Your videos made me miss Japan badly! I can't wait to watch more of your videos, as you give us an authentic experience without the distraction of narration, commentary or annoying background music. The attention you give to features is perfectly timed so it's neither drags nor is fleeting. A very skillfully crafted video (and your other videos seem much the same). Thank you. :)
You did an amazing job on this video . It is completely beautfully filmed . And great sharing skills . I enjoyed everything you showed us . I feel like I was on that trip
My friend and I took the Tokaido shinkansen from Kyoto to Tokyo last September during our visit to Japan. We flew in to Osaka, took train to Nara, then Kyoto. Since we were planning to leave Japan from Tokyo, we travelled on the Shinkansen only once and decided to splurge on the Nozomi Green car. We booked seats on the left hand side of the train and planned the journey as such that we would arrive in Tokyo just before sunset because we wanted to take pictures of Mount Fuji on the Shinkansen. Managed to get some nice photos!
The first thing that struck me, was how clean everything is! What am amazing journey! Thank you for taking us along! It’s always so much fun to see the different areas, and especially fun, to see the regional food(s). Your Ekiben looked delicious! When I saw the Sansai mountain vegetables-especially the fiddlehead, it brought back so many wonderful memories of my mom. She loved loved that mixture of veggies, and would often purchase small bags of them, at our local Japanese market. I loved finding out that you can freeze mikan. Since it’s mikan season for us, I’ll be trying that out. This just reminded me, that I have a whole cookie sheet full of avocado halves in my freezer, that I need to put into food saver bags, ASAP. The mentaiko fishcake and the manju-oh my! I do have to ask.......at 7:52-at looking at the flyer-is that mentaiko or tarako, and is that for purchase on the train? 😋 Sadly, the last time I rode the Shinkansen, was the last time I visited Japan, over 25 years ago, so I thank you for all of your hard work, at filming all over Japan for us! For taking the time, to show every single important detail, and especially, for pointing out where public restrooms can be found. ☺️ You’re both so amazing at what you do! ♥️♥️. Hontoni Domo arigatou gozaimashita!
Very informative video!! Really relaxing, I love this format. We have awful public transportation in the US. Everything is old and dirty. I was shocked they had bidets even on the train! Travel by shinkansen looks nice.
Been on these trains many times during numerous visits. The best by far in the world. He’s not kidding that they leave on time. I have seen doors closed in front of last minute borders lots of times.
Shinkansens are the best trains ever. If you’re going to japan, I highly recommend getting the JR Pass Rail, totally worth the money and just pay a little bit more for the green car/pass . My brother and I went to Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, Sendai and Mt Fuji on this and it was amazing.
I have always been jealous of the japanese, they have some of the best food and technology in the world. I live in the usa, I am from tennessee. If I had the money to travel I would go to Japan and then china.
Thanks so much for posting especially with the English subtitles. I always have been a railfan. Back in the days the Santa Fe Superchief was always my favorite. Japan and Europe have always been in the lead for taking care of their travelers. The US is so far behind it’s to late to catch up. 7 yrs. ago I was traveling from Spain, France and England and it’s like night and day. Japan and the bullet train is on my bucket list. I am fortunate to be friends with a family who’s father came from Japan and goes back to visit. Plan on going with him and his wife to Japan when they visit next. Cannot wait ride the bullet train. Even the food looks fun. Culture food shock on the trains menu compared to the United States is so different, but in a good way. Actually it’s a culture shock when you land into a US Airport from abroad and see the way people are overweight and their attire. For being the wealthiest country............. ?

Love your style - every vlog is very informative - captions are in large print; this is how I relax in the evening....watching your vlogs are a real pleasure & make me determined to visit Japan when this virus is completely under control! Thank you for the great travel logs!
I love these videos...mom has ridden these trains when she visits Japan, but the only train I've been on is the Amtrak from Santa Barbara to Santa Ana. I love riding the train and watching us go by all the traffic we could've been stuck in! LOL Thanks for sharing! XO
Love the detail in this video - and the wonderful memories of travel and people of Japan triggered by the content
Japan is my dream country
I always wanted to live in Japan
You are doing a very good job .......😊😊
lol leave
@@LynxDaimary damn that was autocorrect mistake not mine.....😂😂🤣
Makes me
Want to come to Japan for a visit! Loved all your videos....
This was a really helpful video, though it does make me want to go to Japan even more. Thank you!
Thank you for such an informative video. How polite, courteous and efficent are the japanese people. A lesson for many i concur.
The peeled clems are so extra i love it 🤍🤍🤍
Wow, I'm looking forward to riding the Shinkansen next year on my visit. I'm particularly impressed with how clean and graffiti-free the cabins and the toilet areas. It's like being in an airplane, but smoother. This video so relaxing to watch.
Shinkansen is my passion to travel and I use this service always when I travel Japan :)
currently i've had watch all of your videos and i like them all! thanks for your videos, they're great. Your videos are calming, without much talking. I'm looking forward the other ones! Thank you
Thanks so much!
@@IWillAlwaysTravelforFood my pleasure!
everyone will love to travel by, and visit Japan too.an epitome of patriotism.
Your videos bring such solace during this time when I cannot travel. あなたのビデオは、私が旅行できないこの時期にそのような慰めをもたらします。
I admit I watch your videos partially for nostalgia. One of my regrets was not being able to catch the Shinkansen as a child.
Yokota Air Base 1985-89
There is an amazing amount of leg room between the seats, and a foot rest too!
I love that video and especially the Shinkansen.
Love love love your videos! I plan to explore the whole of Japan (or you know, as much as I can) and your channel's going to be my ultimate travel guide lol, thank you!
Thank you
This brings back sooo many memories! 😀
Nicely done. I am planning a family vacation to Japan later this year and your videos are very helpful in visualizing aspects of such a visit.
You make me dreaming to go Japan as quick as I can! , and everything I seen was look so clean
I lived and studied in Japan for two to three years and travelled in shikansen I feel the facilities increased Thank you Hope to visit again
"what is transportation like in your country?"
My friend, you do not want to know the sorry state that is transportation in Florida. The only way to really get around is by car, because everything is too far away and our public transportation is an utter disgrace.
Florida’s transportation is exactly what Florida spends on it. It has enough population centers to support a more robust public transport system, if that was what the people wanted.
And also, Amtrak is a very underrated transportation method as most people prefer flying or driving for domestic travel
There is Brightline by Virgin USA...Orlando will have it finished this year.
I'm always amazed by how clean Japan is.
i love riding the Shinkansen! i haven't tried the Green Car or Granclass yet though, but the ordinary class is already comfortable even for a large person like me 😅
I love your stuff so much. You make the most calm and relaxing travel videos ever. These are allowing me to dream of travelling whilst I'm stuck at home ❤
Really enjoyed this video. It was like being there with you. Wish we had bullet trains in the US. I like that they run on time, too!
Thank you. :)
1:43 the one thing i'd go back for is that snack right there, its been in my dream ever since i tasted one of those, it's amazing
I like your video. it is very simple and giving good understanding with true natural travel in train. appreciated your effort

Normal cars are 3-2 seating.
× 3-3 seating
○ 3-2 seating
wow
That's right.
I thought so. Looking at space available, 3×3 will result in a very small chair.
yeah, all have 3x2 except the Joetsu Shinkansen e4 series (double decker) which has 3x3 on the non reserved normal cars
@@spaceblue9932 E4 series are retired in March, 2021.

Sadly, the last time I rode the Shinkansen, was the last time I visited Japan, over 25 years ago, so I thank you for all of your hard work, at filming all over Japan for us!
So, Chicago and D.C have dirty subway stations?
Been on these trains many times during numerous visits. The best by far in the world. He’s not kidding that they leave on time. I have seen doors closed in front of last minute borders lots of times.
Green car is more like business class since there’s gran class which is like first class
Wow. Japan is so relaxing. I'm visiting Japan as soon as possible
Southy I actually didn’t lol
Wonderful train. It makes me want to visit Japan and take a ride on the Shinkansen.
This train is amazing. It is what it is, a bullet!
I have always been jealous of the japanese, they have some of the best food and technology in the world. I live in the usa, I am from tennessee. If I had the money to travel I would go to Japan and then china.
Love the video. Nice train, very clean...wouldn't find that in the US.
Lisa Lewis ,To Many ghetto people nowadays especially here at SF BART
I liked the Shinkensen in the video. Pretty advanced railway system. Very clean and punctual as always.
A great video. ☺👍
Atmospheric and informative!
And ... you wear a great shirt! 😍
I’m so impressed !!! Thank you for sharing this!
Japan is awesome👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 love frm india❤
My dream destination ever in my life is to visit Japan..atlas once..
Same here
Oh this video is addictive, hopefully i can go back to Nagoya and Osaka again someday with my family.
I recommend trying the Grand Class if you ever come back to Japan. It is their top of the line car.
I heard is awesome but at the same time quite expensive
コロナで 自粛中…… 何度観ても……旅気分を味わえます
又…welcome to Japan😊💖
