Hi Jessica :) I am so glad your post-op went so well! You did great! I wish I had looked into the surgery when I had the "option" as a teenager. My mom just kind of brushed it off as not being a big deal, since we had the "option", so I didn't really get a choice. I had my surgery at 20 years old, and the post-op and recovery was really bad. I still have severe chronic pain two years later and am very limited on mobility. My surgery also had a stupid complication where I developed a large hematoma in my leg, due to a screw-head sticking out of the table I laid on in the OR. I had to use a walker for 2 months because of that hematoma and the leg weakness it caused. i still have the hematoma and was just referred to a general surgeon to see if they want to remove it. I am so glad you had supportive parents for this surgery. Thankfully, I am married, and my husband was able to care for me in those really bad months where I needed help wiping my butt, bathing, etc. I still take tramadol for pain and flexerol for muscle tightness and spasms. I did physical therapy for about 7 months, but then my insurance stopped covering them. Do you have any tips on how your recovery was so fast and what you do to maintain flexibility and non-tight muscles? Do you have home exercises that you physical therapist recommended that were really helpful? Thank you for listening and any advice you have!
Hey I don't know if you remember or not but I asked you questions a few months ago. I just got the surgery on August 5th (6.5 weeks post op) and wow you had a much better recovery than I! The problem for me was I did it at Johns Hopkins (the best/busiest hospital ever) so I was stuck at the icu the entire time because there were no room at the normal hospital unit. So since I was at he icu they took better care and took everything slowly. I didn't walk until the 4th day! Generally I had a pretty smooth recovery. I didn't miss any school (bc it was summer) went back 3.5 weeks post op! Now I'm feeling pretty good! :)
I didn't feel any pain, when I woke up, because I was all drugged up, I just was really cold for some reason, even though I had like three blankets on me already
where did you have your surgery at? I have really bad scoliosis and IDK whether to do the surgery or not. is it worth it all in the end? or is there worse pain afterwords.? 😊😊
MrDrJace Not really, I was really cold and thirsty, but for sure - no pain right after I woke up, maybe the next day, but it was more of a sore muscles feeling because of not moving too much for a long time
and does it hurt after you have to walk. and when did you start being able to eat normal food? also, how old where you when you had the surgery because im 11 and going to be 12 on march 24 /:
My surgery went horrible. I got paralyzed so they had to do an emergency stop and I was in the Inu for about a week then I had another surgery to finish it and I spent another couple of days in the Inu and then a couple of days in the children's hospital and the food was bad except the shakes, those were good, that was probably the only good thing about my surgery.
I got back from hospital after scoliosis operation last Wednesday and my surgery I was over the moon on how well it went but because I was lay down in bed in the hospital for ages I fainted twice when I Tried to stand up but now I am in bed everyday in agony I am wondering does the pain get better
I find out on Wednesday how bad my scoliosis is and if I need surgery or not, I probs will because my breathing is being affected and I have muscle spasms :( I'm getting really terrier now about it 😰😭😥
Rebecca Gleed my sister (who had really bad scoliosis) after surgery took 6 months / 1 year to fully recover ,but she still gets major back pain after 3 years because of the two metal rods in her back !
Hey..im 17 im finishing high school this yr and hopefully doing my scolisis surgery. Im 5ft tall only due to my spine. I have. 65 degree curve...is it hard or will get easy..im really nervous if something happens because i am hoping to attend university and im afraid if something happens..

Yay!! Congrats!!
My daughter was over a 90% curve. We spent 7 days in ICU then 3 more weeks in hospital. It was brutal
I am going to the doctor because my back as been hurting and I noticed a slight curve, what do I expect.
I was laughing before the surgery too, it felt really weird :D
Did you feel pain when you woke up? was it really bad?
^ my step sister is 16 and had her surgery 2 years ago(June 2014) she didn't feel pain when she woke up she just said it was like a sore back.
I had my surgery 5 Months ago, they actually woke me up before putting me through medicine so I woke up with all the pain 😬
I didn't feel any pain, when I woke up, because I was all drugged up, I just was really cold for some reason, even though I had like three blankets on me already
somehow watching you sit up after surgery made my back ache 😅😣
when they put the tube down your throat, did they take it out when you were awake?
where did you have your surgery at? I have really bad scoliosis and IDK whether to do the surgery or not. is it worth it all in the end? or is there worse pain afterwords.? 😊😊
I can tell you it is totally worth it, there are moments of immense pain after your surgery but the pain does really get less and less after a while
MrDrJace

It is a hard at first and you'll need to be patient with yourself because it's a process on getting better. But it all gets easier!
+Jessica Rangel thanks for comforting me. Your really pretty and you have possibly made many people comfortable knowing your doing great' i subbed!
Do it asap! The older you get, the worse the recovery. It can be life-long I had it at 20 and it was awful.
What was that bag the nurses was holding at the end of the video when you were walking with the nurse
Faith Wood is it hard to go to the bathroom after surgery
Jenny Morris right after yes, you’ll probably have a catheter to drain your pee for the first few days after surgery. Are you going to get it done?
I have scoliosis
Omg I laughed to my scoliosis surgery too
:(( could u put ur instagram public ? I have many questions that i want to ask u 😭
