When asked about Led Zeppelin's style Robert Plant often replied that THEY as a band were always trying to figure out what exactly Led Zeppelin's style was. While it makes for a funny anecdote, it also indirectly implies that Led Zeppelin really couldn't fit themselves into a box. They didn't stick to formulas or formats. They didn't see any limits. They just kind of came and exploded.

Nicely done STB. Now you’re playing with the big dawgs! You are maximizing your Zeppelin journey by visiting the most satisfying and pleasing part of the trip - the raw energy and excitement of early raw Zeppelin! Please do yourself a favor, as well as us fans, and do a reaction to How Many More Times from this same show. Un F’n Believable! If your head and foot aren’t moving to it you must be deaf or dead. Yah. Pete Townsend and his ilk had their issues with them. You’re probably right about the jealousy factor. I wouldn’t worry about those that might not like like your opinion. Nothing wrong with valid divergent opinions, unless you like to live in a bubble. It would have been funny if the questioner went through each Zeppelin song and asked Pete if he didn’t like it. I doubt anyone could hate every Zeppelin song. Either they refuse to listen to all their songs or they’re just being stubborn or maybe jealous.
It reminds me of when you reacted to Wearing and Tearing off Coda and in the Wikipedia article it said that they were considering to release it under some pseudonym so as to show that the song still rocks regardless of who put it out. I think 50 years on has only strengthened Zeppelin’s musical legacy.

I agree 100% I saw The Who in 1968 around My Generation time including bashing guitar into amp. . .wasn't impressed and although I liked some of their later stuff I never got over that 1st impression. LZ on the other hand was a whole other experience without the histrionics

WAYNE!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! You certainly made my evening!! Oh to have been in the audience at the Fillmore West during their run there!! With a couple of hundred people not the 1000s who were soon to be their future audience size. From what I've read - Vanilla Fudge did not particular like having to follow them. Your observations were so on point and I so appreciate how you've come to embrace their music!! This is a prime example of why I love LZ. Their musicianship and production ability is so well captured in their studio recordings BUT THEIR LIVE PERFORMANCES show their unbelievable virtuosity, the breadth of their musical knowledge and their oneness as an improvisation BEAST! They are 2 VERY different experiences studio vs live. There are so many more gems like this performance out in the bootleg world. I would respectfully ask you to review THIS DATE in its entirety. The link I sent is both sets that were done on the 27th. Someone below has suggested 4/24 - The Dancing Avocado bootleg - which is one of the often cited bootlegs, but I think overall this performance on the 27th is 🔥🔥🔥🔥 they were really on a crazy level across both sets. Listen to This Eddie (1977) and Osaka (1971) are musts for bootlegs. I don't know what link you have for Osaka - there are lots out there - but a fairly recent version is fabulous - if you use this one- check out the notes at the link th-cam.com/video/cTvJ5kk4fbo/w-d-xo.html Another I would suggest is from 9/4/1970 LA Forum (LA Forum shows are always amazing) - ULTIMATE BLUEBERRY HILL - th-cam.com/video/uhlqH_qDl88/w-d-xo.html Live in Uniondale from 2/13/1975 th-cam.com/video/5FlrmSD0ViE/w-d-xo.html There just a wealth of wonderful performances out there - probably too many to suggest 😉 Thanks again!! Peace.

I hate to say it, but if Bonham had not died in 1980, there were still serious issues that would've threatened their run in the 80's. 1st The health of Jimmy Page: he was strung out on heroin & many thought Jimmy would die before Bonzo. Just speculation on my part, but if Bonzo had not died, Jimmy's "demons" could've easily derailed their plans. 2. The seriously strained relationship between Robert & Jimmy. Robert for years would not forgive Jimmy for his lack of support when Robert lost his son to a rare disease. He also blamed Jimmy's dabbling in the occult for other misfortunes the band suffered. Peter Grant had to beg JPJ not to quit the band on a few occasions. So there were plenty of cracks in the foundation before the 70's were over. I just wish I had the chance to see them before they broke up. Saw Robert on his solo tour (Now & Zen) & Jason Bonham in 2015.
