SBG SCX10 II Vanquish Currie Torture Test

  • The SBG was happy to get a set of pre-production Vanquish Currie Axles for the Axial SCX10 II and today's goal was to break something! After two packs, and nearly an hour of full-out running through the uneven surface of the local riverbed, I'm happy to report that nothing broke, nothing got loose and nothing bent. These are going to be solid axles once they're released. Vanquish put a lot of thought into the design and execution, namely the integrated c-hubs with replaceable collars. They definitely slide better than I thought they would and the smooth profile is fantastic.
    Shot with the DJI Osmo, 1920x1080 60fps, resolved at 23.98 and edited in Premiere Pro.
    Enjoy watching the video, and ask your questions below!

    wow, a whole new Currie axle for the scx10 ii. You gotta love a Company that puts that extra amount of time and money into designing and fabricating some of the most detailed and toughest parts available in the Hobby. I have Vanquish wheels ,knuckles, c-hubs,axles, toe block,links and more on my rigs and have yet to have any problems with them, great video and wicked scx10-2. I am so glad I have been waiting to build an scx based rig, now I can build a much better designed scx10-2 and have CMS without buying extra parts.

    She looks amazing Brother! And I'd say that was a pretty fair test, if Diff's & Axle's can't handle that then I don't want them yeah. Just wish ya'll would've given a bit of an assesment at the end but perhaps that's another video? Speaking of, another wicked Video!

    There's something about watching a scale vehicle in an environment where there is no scale to tell how big or small it is. Just a rig rolling over some rocks down by the river.

      Your best bet is to visit the SBG forum and see what others are using, rather than taking my recommendations. There's a lot of excellent how-to's there as well. www.scalebuildersguild.com/forum Cheers!

      Certainly does. I do wish it didn't obliterate the sharpness of everything around it, but hey, it makes things feel a bit dreamy, and I'm okay with that for some applications.

    Totally awesome build. I'm thinking of buying the kit to use for G6 events etc. What brushless combo do you recommend? I want to be able to crawl good and occasionally have the ability to go faster than say a rtr but not crazy fast. Thanks in advance!

    • @scalebuildersguild
      @scalebuildersguild  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much, it's in pieces now. On to the next, of course!
      As for Brushless systems, I recommend either Tekin RX4 & Roc412HD combos in the 2300-3100kv range and Castle Mamba X & Slate motor combo in the 2850kv range. You'll be able to go slow, and plenty fast with an SCX10 II. Cheers, and thanks for watching!

      Scale Builder's Guild Thanks for answering. Any chance you remember those paint colors. And make of all light bars? Sorry for so many questions 🙄

    • @scalebuildersguild
      @scalebuildersguild  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem!
      Light bars were Axial Racing's Light Bar kit: AX31152 (I wired my own lights) and paint codes from Tamiya: PS3, PS23, PS12, PS5 and PS19.

  • @michael2011111

    Hey.. just my opinion. Why not put a skid plate to protect your axle. and maybe a much softer shocks for the rear, to tackle such rocky terrain. and also to avoid much rebound. just my opinion.

      It has been asked, just maybe not in this video. It's quite simply a Honcho cage fastened to the rear.

    What's so special about those axles? My stock scx10 2 can do that all day long. I even take it to rougher trails with bigger rocks without any problems. To be honest, a stock stampede would look more impressive at the place you were running...... I take my stock scx10 2 to places where a stampede would get stuck every few seconds.

    • @scalebuildersguild
      @scalebuildersguild  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm so confused by this comment. You realize that aluminum axles are always going to be stronger than the stock plastic, right? The idea behind Vanquish is to be an upgrade over stock, in both performance (tighter tolerances and firm mounting points) and looks. As I've never had a Stampede, I can't comment on that. Thanks for watching.
