i am speechless. this is THE flawless performance. there honestly isn't a SINGLE way to criticize this. unfortunately the camera angle's less than terrible.
Now, he had such control at that age... Truly Zimerman and Sokolov are my 2 favorite pianists alive, their control is supreme (tonal control, dynamics, clarity, etc.). I suggest you search the interviews on google, you'll be amazed at the fact that he carries his own piano with him, and he's his own technician and even changes the keyboard during a concert to change the mechanism and sound! Really, it is a supreme level of perfectionism. Watch his Chopin Ballade No.1, his movements and sound...
Op 10 Nr 8 My New LOVE I don't believe it, he makes a beautiful music out of this with the fantastic contrapunkt- this STRUCTURE I DIEEEEEEE this is so modern simply perfect!! It sounds like a piece of opera sometimes with the raising danger all the time... and after that the happy/ lucky hopping sounds again and with the right hand a total independent line of tones... AND the ENDING like angels harps! How can one be so talented!!! This is gold for the ears!!! Oo__oO
WOW! I've known only the Pollini version for 20 years and Zimerman understands the first Etude totally different- that is like brainwashing- I would say this here is really better and much more logic!!! The voices more parted separately O__O
wowwww its so good to hear Zimmerman play the etudes. ive been listening and studying his interpretations of the Ballades for about a year his sound is incredible
I thought Rubinstein tought Zimerman for a week or a month or so... Didn't Zimerman tell this himself in his long radio interview? Would have to hear it again, too long ago ;o)
extraordinary! Expecially op10. n.8. What's wrong with th movie director? You can't zoom on the right hand in this etude, unless you know where it's going to go next! And also they screwd up the description before op.10 n.5. But great video, it's a fantastic document of Zimmy's youth!
you understand polish then? There is a 3 part interview floating around, but it's subtitled in Japanese -_- someone has commented that they would translate, so here' to hoping :D
With Valentina Lisitsa the right hand is much too loud, the left hand is going under, and isn't that dancing, all sounds similar, like a huge cake batter... sense of these Etudes is to learn to use the hands separated and this one should hear by totally different stories which are marvelous told by Zimerman. He even creates more senses, e.g. the setup of tension, several times, and pure beauty in the end- better is NOT possible!! And all this with a gentle tone that immensely pleases the ears...
A look at the video and I get an epileptic insult thanks to the stupid camerawork. Perhaps they thought, a rooky behind a great artist will make him even greater.
J prefer j listen him in 1980 " salle Pleyel " at Paris with the radio orchestra France , unforgettable Richard claydermann , a true musician not a false Chopin !
Some camera guy's first day on the job? XD
+Noah Johnson good point. Mostly usless angles...
+Noah Johnson Modern art ;)

Lol modern? This shit is like fucking 40 years old. xD

신동식 yes in this tempo specially.
looking him in this video nobody would have said that he would grow a beard so much
Perfect technique and musicals...

Piękno muzyki Fryderyka Chopina to fenomen graniczący z cudem.

Andrea Dobetti but its such a hard study
Great performance .
wow!!!! he is a great pianist!!
nice hand
He looks like Chopin
He's from Poland no wonder...
Elmo dead inside haha, not everyone from Poland looks like Chopin.
I thought Rubinstein tought Zimerman for a week or a month or so... Didn't Zimerman tell this himself in his long radio interview? Would have to hear it again, too long ago ;o)
He's really young here. It's wonderful playing, though. They labeled the black key one as being Op. 25 No. 9 rather than Op. 10 No. 5.
he plays like it is sooo easyyy ...
ech.
I love you
Best of best
speechless....... ahhhhhh ! (sigh)
本当に、真珠のような、音・・・素晴らしい粒立ち。

Yeah, Zimerman's really good...
But I'm sure Zimerman now has some critique about his own playing here. :)
Excellent ! 💙
who is this guy he looks just like chopin!
@jlmojica7 , this man does look kind of like Chopin. He is a great romantic music pianist named Krystian Zimerman!
❤❤❤❤❤
young zimerman...
He was filming with the 1975 iphone prototype!
HE IS POLISH!:)
his shirt changes between the first and second piece
Ok...
Thanks you uproader!
Where did you find the vidio?
Since no one has said how bad the cameraman's work is, I thought I'd mention it's pretty terrible, unlike Zimmerman's playing. lol
Lol true
zoom out cameraman! zimerman is superb but the camera is not.
you understand polish then? There is a 3 part interview floating around, but it's subtitled in Japanese -_-
someone has commented that they would translate, so here' to hoping :D
昔のツィメルマン綺麗、、、
Jaki młody!
Rubinstein was Zimerman's TEACHER ;o)
Sarah Meister It's really?
François René Duchable was Rubinstein"s student and recorded the twenty four chopin-Etudes not two !

Face shot, fga, face shot, fga....cameraman...have your stuff out by tomorrow morning
貴重な映像だ
@1Thompsonmusic for hell sake, its not all you have to do
nice playing and very relaxed, you camera man are fired, shocking and lacking in artist rendition.
@jlmojica7 Krystian Zimerman ... Why ?
Haha, tell me about it...
the cameraman needs to learn how to zoom out for god's sake.
A look at the video and I get an epileptic insult thanks to the stupid camerawork. Perhaps they thought, a rooky behind a great artist will make him even greater.
Is he Chopin??
Yes he is
...a little too easy for my liking :-)
This is Luke Skywalker
