I also just realised that for the installation year you wrote 1981, it’s 1982 btw. According to newspaper articles the occupation permit for the “first phase” of the mall was only given in November/December 1982 and most of the mall opened in early 1983, so most of the lift parts should’ve been manufactured within 1982 itself and the very earliest the lift could’ve possibly completed installation is in 3Q1982. The apartments portion was completed in 1983. The Fujitec technicians also confirmed the original dot matrix indicators are original from 1982 and were wired into the new controllers so it’s very sad they aren’t being kept during the replacement. There was 1980s footage which I found in some documentary which showed the exterior indicators of the 2 lifts as well.
Let's be real, many companies now can't get creative with cab designs, can they? Miss the old era where OTIS, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, and GoldStar offered circular, hexagonal, or octagonal cabs. Now the only "out of the box" new scenic installations so far we've seen in Indonesia is the TKEs at Gajah Mada Plaza. The Grand Diamond Hotel in Yogyakarta, formerly GQ, also has similar cabs, but they are....Pillar instead.
Not all elevator companies are like that. Some of them like Mitsubishi, KONE and TKE still offer traditional style panoramic cabs in different designs. Even mediocre Chinese generics as well. Lippo Malls had probably realized about the former 1981 Hitachis being somewhat "iconic" so they decided to replace them into TKEs with rounded panoramic cabs instead. And overall they fit quite well with the mall's new contemporary look.
We are the worst example of a throw away society where nothing lasts forever and instead we replace them with cheap crap that will never last a fraction of what they replace I like to call it - progress, in the opposite direction
The ones in the apartment block aren't scenic. Floor 6 is the management office which are only accessible by another set of passenger elevators as well as the fireman's elevator.

Already gone?
Both gone
@@idl3k_elev speaking as a gen z, that’s damn sad. They look nice
I have a question, what's the point in Singapore for mods and replacements?
Because Singapore is a modern city and they don't like old stuffs so they replace them with modern stuff.
I remember that building codes here also require lifts to be replaced/renovated at least once every 28 yrs

@ilz4950 Same thing like in South Korea, their newly revised elevator regulation requires elevators older than 20 or 25 years to be replaced.
what was the first elevator that IDL3K was filmed?
A Toshiba at Pacific Place Jakarta (10 January 2009). Sadly the video have long gone :(
@@idl3k_elev oh nice
they could have replaced it with a different design, not a plain and boring one
Why cant they just mod the elevator instead?
IKR? Like the elevators at Wisma Atria where after the recent mod the existing cabs were retained (although refurbished to a shiny bronze appearance).
I'm wondering what's the model of these elevators?
I'm not sure, but the newly replaced ones now should be ZEXIA.
Ah i c. Thanks for the info!
The elevator box looks boring. Lucky Plaza And Cuppage Plaza are the only ones that are bubble lift
Though the ones at Lucky Plaza had their form slightly altered after the KONE mod in 2005; they used to be bullet shaped.
@@idl3k_elevHow about the Far East Plaza Apartment. And how come floor 6 is disabled in the passenger lifts

😭😭😭😭
The old one was better, but has been replaced... :(
I think @IDL3K - Elevator Enthusiast ( have lots of money and he travels the world )
Not to sound rude or anything but the reason why I travel around the world so often because I'm now working in a cruise ship.
i am not rude but you are very lucky ( you work on a cruise ship and travel the world )
