Sad that the default is false, alot of people that don't realize gamerules exist might miss this cool feature.
Hopefully they are changeable without cheats
@@fortun8diamond Aren't all gamerules changeable when creating a new world?
@@Dan0RG for those with existing worlds
If they defaulted to true, then a lot of redstone machines would break when those players update their worlds
@@PBTophie Eh only really niche machines used by few people. This should be a default feature
Maybe the real fishton is the friends we made along the way
Fishton?
fished along the way* 🙄
@@samuelhulme8347 the piston with wet fish sound from the previous snapshot
Every minecart builder has thought about building a minecart rail through a nether portal but I didn't think it'd ever actually be viable.
Literal gamechanger.
Or simply bringing my horse to the Nether much more conveniently as a form of fast travel without the grind of ice boats
@@user-tzzglsstle585e38 Or simply moving villagers in a boat through nether from a faraway village in the early game without having to break the boat, then try to get them in it again on the other side).
The piston sound revert is awesome! I feel the lower attenuation distance is weird and unnecessary, though; the volume is okay, but now you can't hear the piston from about 8 blocks away, while other components like dispensers and trapdoors will continue to be noisy. I think it makes more sense to be silent at about 16 blocks like the others, so it doesn't get too quiet too soon.
Really, the issue is just that it's TOO loud, not that it's heard from too far away. We LIKE hearing pistons, that's why we rioted when the new sound dropped. It's just that too many of them at once hurts
I agree
Maybe it could be changed so that a single piston produces the normal old sounds from before, without the short attenuation distance, but pistons that fire while another piston is moving would be quieter
@@ttmfndng201 or just only let one piston make noise at a time? Or they could make the piston sound event a thing that activates only once if any pistons are firing (which would be functionally the same thing, just different code)
Yeah it sounds good on paper but in gameplay it is just odd. Having everything else be louder while pistons end up being silent is kind of jarring.
The fish-ston was such a mess glad they just made it quieter.
Now it's out of balance with other noisy components, like droppers.
@@TheRealWormbo i hope they make it just slighly louder and make it so we can hear it from a bit further away but atleast the fish sound is gone
@@TheRealWormboI agree
The portal thing needs to be on by default
on by default in new worlds, keep off in old worlds to not break anything
@@IsaacDaBoatSloth Honestly, that's probably the best solution.
thanks for the revert 🐟
I get they're trying to avoid breaking farms that use entities in boats to collide other entities out of a portal. But IMO the gamerule should be enabled by default.
Maybe a compromise would be keeping it disabled specifically when upgrading worlds older than 1.21?
I'd personally like to see the Minecraft community to get away from considering the default gamerules to be sacrosanct. It's kind of funny that there's general acceptance of mods like Audio Player or datapacks like More Mob Heads but if you play with keepInventory you're a "cheater."
@@GSBarlev Tbf, comparing mob heads (purely cosmetic) and other small qol datapacks to something that completely changes the consequences of a particular game mechanic is quite unfair.
Not that I disagree with the overall comment tho
@@GSBarlev🤓☝️ I'd like you to know that the mods you mentioned adds only cosmetic and QoL changes, which doesn't help players cheat. On the other hand, "keep inventory" definitely sounds like cheating if we think from other game's perspective, which makes people feel it must be kept off.
0:26 I feel like this should be on by default, this has a lot more use to a regular player than when it is of (it's also more intuitive if it's on), and if someone has a use for it when it's off; chances are, they are knowledgeable enough to turn it off in the gamerule unlike someone who is just normally playing the game.
It breaks existing contraptions where a boat with entities in it was put into a portal to automatically push mobs that came through said portal out. I assume they don't want to break existing worlds. That being said, it feels like a massive waste making it off by default
@@mrkirby8622 I'm completely aware of this.
But this has such an easy solution which is simply not touching any existing world's gamerule at all.
Benefits outweighs the already solvable drawbacks.
@mrkirby8622 Tho the boat is already inside the nether portal, so it shouldn’t pass through it unless it gets out of the portal and back in. At least that’s what I think
I swear to god every other snapshot something about soul speed is broken...
I reckon it’s a just a dev focusing on long standing boot enchantments bugs recently, they’ve also been fixing frost walker as well
@@redacted0_5they remade/refactored all the enchantments from scratch a couple snapshots ago to make them data driven, so they’re fixing bugs caused by that (and fixing older bugs in the process)
According to some mod dev, this snapshot a lot rewrites a lot of the stuff, especially half of the vertex code
I think its because technically speaking soul speed has the most complicated JSON of any enchantment. It was difficult to translate it into the new format without breaking all of the edge cases.
I’m glad that they reverted that terrible piston sound
Thank you, slicedlime.
YES!!! YES!!!!! CUSTOM JUKEBOX RECORDS HERE WE COME 🔥🔥🔥
WE'RE MAKING CUSTOM RECORDS WITH THIS ONE
I haven't dug into the code yet-as someone who maintains a custom music disc mod, I'm curious to see what is happening to the current discs (and, if they're now all data-driven, how the world upgrade process works).
@@GSBarlevall discs are data driven. You can even define the compactor output.
@@samuelhulme8347 That's wild-so if I have a MusicDisc(.)CAT item in a 1.20 world, when I upgrade the world, it'll get replaced with a generic MusicDisc item with "Cat" encoded as NBT?
@@GSBarlev what's the name of the mod?
OHhhHhHhh YESSSSSSSSSSSSS we’re back piston fans! :D
Mettaton ahh comment
The portal update is going to be huge for chunk loaders and automated transport systems. The rollercoasters we can create are going to be fun as heck, but I'm excited about the utility.
The piston sound, I feel, is closer to what we wanted. A dedicated slider for Redstone blocks would be ideal, but this is better than the LEGO piston sound they offered previously.
They reverted the piston sound!
Now revert the copper bulb
Yet another mod fix to include I suppose...
wish the portal game rule was on by default, it would be a game changer
Adult polar bears just tank the damage like it's no big deal 😂
I'm so glad that the panic mechanic for most mobs are updated, I'm so tired of my free roam animals somehow randomly dying just because there's a single cactus in my desert build lol
THIS! This new gamerule will bring life to the rails and minecarts! They may be not the fastest on their own, but with proper Nether portal infrastructure they might become one of the fastest methods of travel especially without the delay.
Thank you for reverting the Piston Sound
Honestly I still believe the piston sound could be changed to some softer sound so it makes sense for the sound to be quiet but just not a sound that sounds this… wet?
(Maybe something in between the lever sound and the old (or I guess current) piston sound)
1.20.5-6 players keep crashing was introduced in Minecraft 1.20.5 Pre-release 2 of "Invalid data in packets sent from a server will now cause the game client to disconnect". So instead of adjusting that, they just gave more bug info for them to fix it themselves lol
About the pistons I liked Mubo's video, it really showed some neat things you could do with the new sound. All the sound was a bit wet. Keep up the good work!
Ah my favourite word, soiunds
*[soiunds intensify]*
It makes me really happy to see they're actually addressing core game design rot with these last couple updates. Passenger portaling is something that should have been in the game far earlier in its development. Better late than never and I'm really looking forward to them tackling other known pain points in the game, such as combat, durability, hunger and enchanting.
Thanks for making this guys
Thank you for making these videos!
im glad teh audio is getting tweaked in places, glass and anvil are instant swicth off the sound for me
NOOOOO they fixed projectile boosting D:
(Hitting wind charges right after shooting them was really cool)
Thank you for reverting the piston sound
Server links are the must have! It would be cool if they could have click event and hover event like text component does.
the piston revert is definitely better... but I'm still very much open to a sound rework of old game-sounds.
Thank you for reverting the piston sound.
I see there was a ticket about ender pearls not working when thrown through portals that got fixed, but was then reverted afterward - I assume the fix for that still needs more time?
Thank god the piston sound was reverted!
The minecart portal change is awesome.
2:45 I think you got it the other way around, they still do what you demonstrated, but the bugfix was that they also do it without being aggro on you
Very cool snapshot ! Keep up the great work :D
Thank you!
Hey SlicedLime! I really love your videos. They're very informative.
I was wondering if you could make a clear distinction between bugs from an earlier snapshot that was fixed, or bugs from a full version release that was fixed. Sometimes I see a bug fix and think "oh, was that a bug? I didn't even know that"
If it's too much effort to figure out which is which, can you just put the bug ID number on screen? To get a sense of when it was reported or to look it up easier.
Thank you!
Thanks for not replacing the piston sound, but just lowered it a bit!
I feel some other sounds should be lowered as well... Nether portals, cows, ...etc...
Goodbye fishton, you won't be missed
I love the instant portal transport thing, I can imagine a lot of uses for that.
Yay! Custom records is amazing!
BRO THOSE LEGO NETHER MORTAL SETS IN MINECARTS FROM YEARS AGO IS FINALLY TRUE!
Mortal?
@@samuelhulme8347 fo some reason i was trying to say module
More datapack news to come? Aaaaaah! You spoil us! How exciting. First custom paintings and now records too.
ofc my first attempt will be a foxhead that plays "What does the fox say!"
Thank you for reverting the piston sound back to its original sound. Now, what else is changed?
I originally agreed with the idea of reducing the sound of pistons and keeping the original sound. But after hearing it, it still seems weird.
I think a better idea would be to keep the original sound and loudness, but implement a feature where you can wax pistons to silence them.
Its really cool how many useful features have been added to servers thats gonna be huge for stores and bug reporting definitely a brilliant idea well done👍
The components minecraft:attribute_modifiers, minecraft:banner_patterns and minecraft:base_color do not work on custom shields.
Yay for the good piston sound again!
1.21 will be the best and most applauded minecraft update in a while. I don't know what's gotten to Mojang, but they are making me proud of them lately.
Scared for the datapack layout change. I guess it doesn't bother too much since they already changed so much with commands
I wish the gamerule was on by default. It would make rails a bit more viable compared to elytras
Aww yiss old piston sounds :D
WAIT THE PISTONS ARE QUIETER!??! So they didn't just revert it, that's actually awesome, pistons that are a little out of the way will make for far quieter contraptions :>
new portal update is really cool!
Double Door is my favorite character in Minceraft
Nice the fixed the pistons. honestly not sure why anyone thought it'd be permanent anyways. Mojang does listen to feedback.
They've refused to revert things once or twice (copper bulb)
Ha good one
they dont really do it often but sometimes they listen
Hasn't there been a portal delay time setting in world edit? Momentum has always carried through portals but due to delay you never see it all you have to do is set delay to 0 then you can even fly through portals.
The sounds chapter is misspelled.
What did it used to be? It looks fine now.
@@chickenfarmer321 It was spelled soiunds.
excellent work mr lime
The piston sound really makes a machine, it was like replacing an old classic car engine and replacing it with an electric one. Why not make a quiet piston recipe instead?
And the MC-266441 is still isn't fixed... the oldest Trial Chamber bug involving misplaced blocks. What happened to Heartless_Moesh? The current Trial Chambers are a complete mess if you explore them more than one time - holes in the ceiling, unfinished ladders and stairs are still present. It's like, the most reported chamber-related bug
Yo all jokes aside you might want to consider switching the default for riding entities and portals.
What about multilingual servers? Are the server links going to support multiple translation strings depending on the client language?
A translation string is just a key. A server can send a resource pack with any number of languages.
Portal thing should be applied on across the whole game, not just riding entites, and be the default.
These are small changes but pretty good ones
the piston sound got reverted. Thank you for listening to the feedback, Mojang.
With the new nether portal gamerule I can make the Lego nether railways work like in real life!
hey can we have a release where the new gamerule is on by default and dragon skip just so happens to be unpatched
Default should be on imo. Thats really cool!
Appreciate the vids
"peenix sc cursed edition"
Eating food is a universal human experience that extends far beyond the basic act of nourishment. It encompasses cultural traditions, social interactions, sensory pleasures, and health considerations, shaping our identities and lifestyles. This essay delves into the multifaceted significance of eating food, exploring its roles in nourishment, cultural heritage, social bonding, and personal well-being.
What are exactly are soiunds?!?
But how much lime could slicedlime slice if slicedlime could slice lime?
Copper bulb still not reverted... ;_;
Imagine how much more efficient TangoTek's villager gift farm will be now that you can go through portals with no delay.
As long as chunk loading is still fine.
Does this mean I can ride horses through Nether Portals now?
Also, I'm kinda curious if players are capable of teleporting while riding a mob (specifically a horse). I remember a few years ago trying to find a way to make it happened but couldn't. This and the nether portal thing were 2 giant roadblocks that made me lose interest in a Minecraft Map I planned on making.
LETS GOOOOOOO
Why is objects traveling through a nether portal a gamerule and not enabled by default? with every update it feels like the gamerules are becoming more random and specific
I’d kind of like for the portal game rule to be true by default, an inter-dimensional rail line would be crazy but of course my world predates 1.21 by two major versions
Glad the fishtons are no more though :D
yay piston
The portal gamerule should be on True as default.
My favorite part of the video is 2:42
I still think the different piston sound was a good one. I don't know what people were complaining about.
I like that you guys put out gamerules for these old bugs as a fix for them.
However, I do not understand why you decided to put the default on false. This is probably something most people would like to have activated by default and simply introducing it as a disabled gamerule effectively does nothing for regular Survival players.
That realm change seems like a really really bad idea. There should at least be the option for the owner of the realm to disable that
Can you make a video covering the new data pack version?
Rewatch the video. SlicedLime mentioned making one for the updated Data Pack version towards the end of this video :)
keep piston loud!!
Is Java going to get /camera in the future?
I love you slicedlime
Why isn't the gamerule defaulting to on? Only reason I can see is legacy redstone reasons, which makes sense to have as a gamerule, but to not default it to on in the next minecraft version feels crazy. :-( I hate the default effect.
I love you slicedlime ❤❤❤
I think that the new gamerule should be true by default, I mean come on, it's a portal
"piston soubd reverted" good news
Letss gooo, they listened to usssss
Man, make the piston go back to the new sound.
I feel like the realm update would be a bigger deal if enfranchised players used realms.
Can this entity gamerule be changed without cheats?
All gamerules can be set when creating a world, or changed using the /gamerule command.
You can't change a gamerule in an existing world unless commands are enabled.
New gamerule should be true by default
