One of the problems with zombie games that have a zombie team is that it’s always their job to literally throw themselves at the humans until they happen to kill someone. Playing a game where you die repeatedly isn’t fun. To quote Kaluka, “Nobody wants to play a game where they lose all the time. People already have that, it’s called a job.” The only time dying repeatedly is fun is if it happens in increasingly comedic ways each time.
this is exactly why i hate playing z-team on mutation and why I get so tilted from the lack of z-coordination

We need an RE style zombie game on the platform, would greatly shake up the genre and could be a huge success if handled well enough, RE5 style multiplayer might be the way to go, but all of this requires Devs to take risks, which I'm 99% sure most Roblox Devs won't dare to do

I spent 5 years moderating ingame for R2DA and I seen all the drama. I think what made R2DA fun was the small group of friends you could get together with and mess around with the bugs and the glitchy code. (any bug that was funny we would just call PR logic) I respect R2D for being there for the people who waited for a remake for over a year, but I can understand that nothing could fix the issues R2DA had with balancing. The real R2D was the friends we made along the way.
Hear me out. R2D is a bad game. The only part that’s good is the nostalgia. Any new player cannot get into it. It’s overall not a fun experience and the graphics are kinda just horrible. Play G&B

I still remember when Chronos came out, playerbase peaked and was the most fun time ever. In fact the experience from start of the game to Chronos was probably the best years the game had.

@@bobertbwild1350 r2d wasn't bad all of the time, only when it almost reached its deathrow, afterwards people decided to remake not the older r2d (before 2020) but the newest one (which is the worst one tbh), and from now on, r2d is just awful to play at times, i mean i still play with friends for fun but it isn't that fun than it was before.

I can absolutely attest to what you said about R2D being unfriendly to newcomers. When I played it all I did was spawn in as a zombie, and get spawn killed for the entire round. Once I was able to play as a human I couldn’t get a single kill because once they came into my sight a better player would get them in half a second.

"your struggle is unrelatable" is basically a summary what it means to grind a roblox game waste of time and not relatable or really translatable in 99% of anything.
Right now, the best zombie game is guts and blackpowder, it is mad eby devs who made left 4 die a gem which is based on l4d. If you want to win in guts and blackpowder you need to have good teammates and know how blood iron muskets work. Even with it's flaws, it's the best

The thing I miss most about old zombie games is they actually designed the map so 10 people could stick together and hold a area with their back safe, these current ones make you run around and split up for no reason. To make it more engaging? but theres ways for zombies to breach a strong line of people

Bro I agree with this, I remember playing a shit ton of Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 and playing a bunch of survivals/campaigns, people really forget how amazing it felt just holding in with a bunch of friends, randoms, strangers you named it.
The best way to handle the undead is to make them not function as just "another undead but a lil stronger" make player undeads a genuine threat that the people HAVE to gun down.
It’s so weird that “games inspired by l4d” or more specifically it’s “versus” mode, fail to realize that they had you play as the specials, since playing as a *regular zombie* meant to be fodder, isn’t fun.
That’s part of the issue with games like R2D, you are often *forced* to play a fodder zombie until RNG favors you and gives you something useful. It’s like Halo’s Infection game mode, except in that mode you don’t get anything to break the stalemate. Sure, making all zombie players play as a special it wouldn’t help with the survivors who have the OP weapons, but it’d be a stepping stone into making survivors at least *try to play* as the zombies once they die. Have fodder zombies be replaced with NPCs that routinely spawn, so survivors are constantly pressured, and if you want to give some extra team-related goals to the zombies (besides killing all survivors), make it so they can collectively help upgrade the NPC fodder zombies. Maybe it can be stats or an actual upgrade (like adding a new type of fodder into the mix or increasing its chances of spawning/how many spawn with each horde).
Also doesn’t help that a lot of maps (at least in R2D) are very open, and don’t encourage groups of players finding spots to actually hold out. Even when that does happen, zombies can barely break through and get anyone.
A lot of Roblox devs actually know very little or nothing at all about actual game development and balance. I've been on-and-off Roblox since 2012, and by far the most common theme among semi-popular to even the trendy games is this; Roblox devs will be "inspired" by an already established franchise or successful product, but they won't have a single clue as to what made it work in the first place. Countless Roblox devs wanted to emulate Left 4 Dead, but had no idea what made it great in the first place. Roblox devs wanted to make horror games, but had no idea what actually made games scary in the first place. The result is a swathe of games that don't feel like the popular IP they're "inspired" by, rather they feel like a shameful bastardization of something vaguely resembling an existing IP, only on the surface. It's sad to see that this cycle continues well after 2012 when I started; I figured at this point Roblox devs would finally at least take some time to figure out what made their inspiration so great in the first place.
Basically, Roblox devs are several decades behind everyone else on game design principles and philosophies. They're still figuring out shit that every other game dev community figured out in the 90's.
@@Daedalus-YT As a guy that played the older roblox game back then, this statement is true, one of the biggest reasons why so many devs failed is because their simply not passionate about it, instead of saying "How can we make this game enjoyable? they simply want it "how can I make more money?" that's why games like Reason 2 die felt so unbalance and off, is because not only did the creator not care, but personally roblox, engine as a whole is simply not perfect.
@@NateDoesYT Yes, unfortunately a majority of the innovations made with ROBLOX games is just figuring out new ways to manipulate the player into spending as much robux as possible. It would be kinda funny if it wasn't so worrying, the lengths some people are willing to go to just to get some virtual funbucks, even willing to get little kids addicted to gambling, like games with cases that can be bought with robux.

Agreed, people really forget how amazing R2D truly was during it's prime, it got ruined sadly not just the cheaters but the staff/devs, drama and the community being hypocrites sadly.
cheaters are everywhere, but the devs also ruined their own game unironically. therefore it is a good riddance despite the great memories.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head. If anyone is familiar with the minecraft version of L4D "McInfected" literally everything in this video applies to how that game died as well. Made a game completely hostile and unfun to everyone except people with like 3k hours in the game and money whales. Then *shocked pikachu face* when the game bleeds players until its inevitable demise.

Ever since i left Reason 3 Die due to the lack of changes the owner lost interest on. I moved on to a better place working on a Undead Strike Classic game. Which takes place in 2019 sort of. Your videos helps to courage my work and to reveal the main issues on every game (especially R2D because they have never heard of players experiences over the years). Keep up with the great content👍.

with Ailbric being out of the picture for development on that game, and a beta being promised, I do really hope we get a solid R2DA continuation, not because Im "nostalgic" but because I find actual fun within the core concept of the game

At one point about R2D, the campaign time was reduced to 8 minutes but somehow the devs thought about changing it back to 10. And survivor used to have 10s sprint stamina that got mulched down to 5 when Christmas update dropped, at which is planned to be reverted... After 2 months of murking survivor team to be reliant on mounts.
And about the changes to make the game better, the community did go out of their way to suggest some pretty good ideas such as replacing gifts with event contracts, along with small QoL stuff but the devs only look up to submission 99% of the time because skins have more priority than QoL changes. And that 1% would just be Scott.
Also addendum for TUC:A. They should probably change the way so that servers wont just get early tank 3 minutes into survival consistently

You SHOULD play Re:infected. Never has it made playing zombies so fun.
It's based off the Counter Strike zombie maps/escape modes and they pull a fun twist of giving you special mutant zombies that can absolutely wreck servers. As someone who often played those gamemodes, I found myself preferring to be a zombie main due to how fun and chaotic it is once you get a special zombie that allows you to formulate a plan to infect.
This game is not easy for the human teams. They often lose. It is unforgiving and absolutely brutal.
22:18 You are right about never having to get ammo for it. The average survival round is 4 minutes long. To drain all the ammo of the gun it would take 162 seconds, (972 bullets/6 per second) assuming the fire rate of 6 means 6bullets/sec. Thats nearly 3 minutes not even accounting for reloading the fucking thing. Accounting for reloads, that adds an additional 208 seconds. (This is because the gun starts loaded already.) Assuming non-stop firing at the maximum speed, it would take you 370 seconds, or 6 minutes and 10 seconds to run out of ammo for the thing. Uncle Dane was exaggerating when he said you wouldn’t run out of the pistol’s 200 reserve ammo (12 in clip, 212 total) but with this you’re going to run out of time in the fucking round before you get close to running out.

All the zombie games are balanced in a way where progression becomes an arms race between zombies and survivors, as they become increasingly more powerful until it comes over to a point where gameplay is unfair for both sides. Ultimately, newer players suffer for it, as balance often revolves around the peak of either sides’ power (higher levels), leading to focused changes that neglect players starting out in an effort to keep experienced players engaged.

Ready 2 Die is a game created by Synween and arsa5x, the game is a revival of Reason 2 Die: Awakening by PlaceRebuilder, both games are free to play ROBLOX Multi-player Zombie Survival games. Survivors must survive while doing various objectives in order to win while fighting endless hordes of zombies, which will try to stop them from doing so. The game includes new additions and features that were not present in Reason 2 Die: Awakening.
Ready 2 Die had previously went under the name Reason 2 Die: Definitive Edition however was told to change as a request from PlaceRebuilder. For information about the game history, click here.
I want to hear your opinions on Demise of Eden, while it's another Left 4 Dead clone style zombie game, it at least tries to do something with survivor & zombie abilities and character interactions. Which is the main thing I'd be interested in hearing your opinions on, as very few of these games actually try to do anything related to like, characters and stuff that Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 had, and mainly hyperfocus on gameplay. The game itself is a passion project by its creator, Archeximus, and is a spin-off of the game Decaying Winter, so the game is kind of dead. And sadly, has no progression. Either way, I'd be interested to see what you'd think of how it does characters and interactions mainly.

It wasnt mentioned in the video, but the game is currently going under a lot of changes. the entire game is being recoded, primarily by our new programmer ur_lucky. So the bugs and inconsistencies we see ingame are on their way out

And I agree with the current problems you mentioned, it seems after all this time we can’t deviate from the cycle of gameplay that’s existed since 2019. What I notice is that we keep repeating mistakes and I think it’s due to the fact that the people who were previously, and currently in charge of game balance are just not analytical enough
I myself want to keep asking questions as to what’s wrong, I try to go in depth and here’s what I think:
The survivor team, HR’s in particular, are too powerful with weaponry
The zombie team struggles not only because of the power of survivors, but also because of the faultiness in the game’s maps. Level design is very underrated in consideration to the game’s balance. What I think happened is that the people in charge of balance see the zombies struggling to due to level design, thought that it’s because zombies aren’t powerful enough, and buffed their damage significantly all without wanting to change the survivor’s weapons. Except for the swarmer, all zombies types have been buffed in R2D in comparison to the base stats of their R2DA counterparts

The undead coming Armageddon is a good game. But the grind is so horrendous and the balancing is so aids its not even funny. That game will die if they dont balance it.

20:33 I’m happy that now you have the opposite problem of people volunteering as zombie and being dragged to the survivor team because there’s too many starter zombies. It happens to me way too often as of recently and it is funny as hell that it happens because the zombies are good. (Too good probably.)

I remember when Reason 2 Die shutdown, I didn't even know it was shutting down and I had just started to play it again after awhile, so after I had gotten back into it, it shutdown, unfortunate timing

i like zombie games but too many of them are basically just cod zombies
I want a zombie game where you have to survive until you find an escape like left for dead (incursion is a good example) or a sci fi style game where you have to research and fight off a zombie virus whilst getting better weapons and knowledge about the zombies
I feel like R2D just needs to work on its problems, its like got potential and I honestly find the game fun for a few hours until people vote shoot' em up town PVE, honestly spawn camping is very much a map issue and the moving of the spawns around in maps like boathouse singlehandedly fixes that, one thing though is that in some servers players just pick the same 3 maps leaving to you not really experiencing any variety, the addition of lower ranked guns like the Mac 10 and buffs to other ones like the python (its still kinda ass though) are nice improvements
I genuinely don’t like shoot em up town, I’d tether play cabin fever I find it so much more enjoyable

Mutation sounds like it might be fun, the mere thought of ramming a subspace-tripmine attached car into a zombie is pure comedy gold to me.

I mean to be honest Humans vs Zombies as a whole series felt like a roller coaster. One that got old very, very fast. We can all agree that the best time to play it was indeed v3 where the game was peak with uninfection and extreme survival and other modes until it broke after a roblox update and homer couldnt fix it because he had college. Being someone who has played the Return of Humans vs Zombies I will say it is an overall good game that could use some balancing tweaks to both sides. I liked the boss fighting thing because i cant name another zombie game with that in it. It's a great game but it got abandoned by all the developers who worked on it. Plus there isnt enough content for either side. The point requirement increases between items can go from $500 to $1200 very fast. It would be better if there were more things to buy in between those items, and they could've also made it a bit less grindy to get the items you want. But talking about this game getting updates is like talking to a brick wall. It's sad to see a game with a bunch of potential go to waste honestly. It hurts thinking what the game couldve turned into compared to what it is now.
As some one with over 300 hours in mutation I can say from experience. Humans can still be op, you just need a good load out. And the game can still be fun if you try to play a more interesting play style.

not sure how the old reason 2 die campaign reward was(i only played PvE when i started) but near closing the campaign was just super generous giving 3k xp and 3k gold for surviving
As someone who loved mutation, the anti-fun update really fucked everything up. I’m sure that, if that update would’ve never happened, the game would still have a normal amount of players

have you checked out the final stand 2? i dont think its like the other zombie games, its more wave defense based with loads of perk builds and cool stuff. dunno if it counts as a pve game instead of a zombie game, but have a glaze over it if you want to

a zombie game I really goddamn enjoy to play is Contact A-888, survival wave based pve with awesome gunplay (btw made by the same creator that made Decaying Winter, Arch). Absolutely fun to play, please try it out.

RE:Infected is fun to play as even though the players are strong, they are still one shot to most hits (except Area 51 Objective). That makes it more engaging you have to be more aware and the grind for weapons doesn’t matter. A mini gun is only a panic button and not needed. It’s nice, fun, and hard to win on some map. The maps that suck is Dummy Industrial and fucking Starter city.
i know this is a 2 month old video but... please consider checking out contact a-888, it's a pve wave based game that had also been abandoned but it's so good.... it was made by the same person who made decaying winter and anomalous activities (which, fun fact, c:a888 is actually in the same universe as aa apparently)
