I bought a vintage Chanel square mini handbag that is not ridiculously overpriced as my entry level piece. It's made of lambskin and straw that looks like a wicker and it aged so well!! I really believe vintage pieces are high quality products. I am so pleased that it is trendy now! I did not even know until you brought it up. YAYYYY what a score!! Can't wait to wear it!!
What a great video! I grew up wearing and loving vintage (and thrift) in high school in the '80s and in the '90s and never thought twice about designers or the fashion world. I'm guessing it's different in NYC! I remember looking in some shops there during those years and could not believe how much even the thrift and vintage clothes cost. I just bought what I liked and what suited my body. I was tiny then and you are so right, Karen, vintage is so much smaller! Finding small vintage clothes was much easier than finding small regular clothes. Now, however, I'm not tiny (not very big, but definitely bigger), and I've put off searching vintage shops until I feel like I can find some good options for my shape.

There are so many good ideas here. In my humble opinion you could have easily made several videos with expanded some of the examples/talking points. For example, cutting the boots. To you it must seem simple but I’m thinking 1) what kind of scissors do I use 2) how do I cut them to match 3) where on the leg do I cut 4) what if I make a mistake 5) etc

I sew my own clothes but i can only second what you say about tailoring. Not only for vintage clothes but for new RTW too! I used to shop vintage as crazy when in my 20s (slim+always out and about THEN) and still they were tiny! mainly dresses and handbags (and hats when I could find some) I still adore anything retro/vintage and am learning to sew for that reason...my favorite pieces are 1. dresses my aunts made (and wore) back in the days...silk/crepe/shantung with precious buttons, 40/50/60s style 2.dresses and coats from my mum more 70s 3.handbags...the super dainty small wrist ones in satin/silk/structured but also the 70s brown reddish leather ones...well guess I could go on...oh! brooches!!! 40s...
Your such a delight to watch, and I always learn something new. I purchased 2 Chanel jackets that were made in the early 90's. I took them into my tailor and had them removed. I wear them with jeans and tee-shirts.
I did thrift store antique clothes in the 70s before it was vogue!I would embroider and restyle them and look very "different" from everyone else!!!Loved it!

I just love your vídeos and you have amazing ideias. I do love and have lotes of vintage things and now it's easier to get them here in Portugal. Normally i did get them when where in London or in N.york because it was really hard to find them here. Favorita vintage pincel =. FRinge, wet velvet conta, long silk dresses and normally using the way you use. With jeans, boots, mixing a Very "chancel" coat with riped jeans.

Lovevthe vid but I have such a hard time finding vintage clothes, one thing I can find though are nice vintage bags. One of my sisters can walk into a vintage store and find the sharpest clothes, coats, bagsyou name it. She even found a pair of Jimmy Choo black pumps! The odds of me finding something like that...never would happen. My sister gives me the same advice you just gave out, still can't find anything but I'm going to keep trying. Thanks Karen

Ahhh delicious...vintage and Karen what could be better! I have some beaded jackets tops I found vintage and what a great idea on how to mix with jeans! I am a sucker for great fabrics such as vintage silk charmeuse blouses and silk shirts, they feel good on the skin and they look great with jeans. I hand wash all mine except designer. A very few get a sueded texture but sueded silk feels wonderful. With all these I fit to my shoulder and first thing to go are indeed the shoulder pads. LOVE your style sensibility.

Your such a delight to watch, and I always learn something new. I purchased 2 Chanel jackets that were made in the early 90's. I took them into my tailor and had them removed. I wear them with jeans and tee-shirts.
and you'll have those Chanel jackets forever!! best way to wear them too

I did thrift store antique clothes in the 70s before it was vogue!I would embroider and restyle them and look very "different" from everyone else!!!Loved it!

So much so hat you're almost the only fashion youtube I follow, and perhaps others might fi more with my needs considering I m a small pale white girl and what compliments your body would probably not look good on me, but still, I just love how you explain everything. I feel like I'm learning lots from your videos.
I've got the shirt version of the Carole little dress you have and every time I wear it I get so many compliments. The colors are incredible. It even makes me happy seeing it in my closet, if you ever sell that dress,I'd buy it off of you in a blink of an eye.

you speak so beautifuly, have such creative ideas and it's so much fun to see how happy creating a good outfit (in your mind) gets you! I sew most of my own clothes and buy lots second hand and alter them for fit or to modernise them a bit.

I just love your vídeos and you have amazing ideias. I do love and have lotes of vintage things and now it's easier to get them here in Portugal. Normally i did get them when where in London or in N.york because it was really hard to find them here. Favorita vintage pincel =. FRinge, wet velvet conta, long silk dresses and normally using the way you use. With jeans, boots, mixing a Very "chancel" coat with riped jeans.

Thanks for another great vid Karen. I love buying vintage and I find the best outerwear for next to nothing. I also take the shoulder pads out of jackets and make a beeline for the bags! I love finding classics that are so well made as well as wearing something nobody has. Look forward to your next vid 😎

Lovevthe vid but I have such a hard time finding vintage clothes, one thing I can find though are nice vintage bags. One of my sisters can walk into a vintage store and find the sharpest clothes, coats, bagsyou name it. She even found a pair of Jimmy Choo black pumps! The odds of me finding something like that...never would happen. My sister gives me the same advice you just gave out, still can't find anything but I'm going to keep trying. Thanks Karen
Oh, God, this video just makes me wanna run to the nearest thrift shop! What great finds, Karen!! I also got into thrifting when I was a kid, it is the best high I get out of shopping, I don't get that excited shopping at a regular store.

Ahhh delicious...vintage and Karen what could be better! I have some beaded jackets tops I found vintage and what a great idea on how to mix with jeans! I am a sucker for great fabrics such as vintage silk charmeuse blouses and silk shirts, they feel good on the skin and they look great with jeans. I hand wash all mine except designer. A very few get a sueded texture but sueded silk feels wonderful. With all these I fit to my shoulder and first thing to go are indeed the shoulder pads. LOVE your style sensibility.
