    Wait, so how do those tact switches cost £0.146 on the website you showed and $8 on MPC stuff.... that's 55 times markup!!

    I saw a video where a guy took the buttons out and repaired(he didn't replace, but fixed it) his buttons with alcohol soak and then applied voltage to a carbonated water solution and placed them in there for a few minutes and they were good as new

    Thanks for the vid bro !
    Fixed it with success, had to deal with a few problems but ended being ok.
    Did a few ones with your method but forget others, so did some more without cutting the nails of the tact-switches but just removed them by desolding on the back. Find it easier.
    Still, cheers mate !

      That’s what I ended up having to do. It’s hard to get under the tact switches so that’s a good solution. I need to fix some more buttons so hopefully that works again. Or just buy some nice cutters.

    Just a couple of ideas to add...you only need to remove the screws at the front on the bottom plate ...and to remove the tact switches you can just heat the contacts and tug the switch out at the same time ...no need to cut but you still need to desolder which is much easier once the switches are removed.

    thanks! you say in the video you need 6x6x5mm switches (SKHHAMA010) but your link goes to 6x6x4.3mm (SKHHALA010) - which are preferable?

    Peace, I know this video is old however I am in need of assistance. I recently changed the tact cursor switches in my 2000, now none of the buttons work. The machine boots perfectly and all ribbons are connected. Any assistance is appreciated...

    I got the same volume- and record-gain knobs like the ones in your video from mpcstuff. Couldn' t get them to stay in place cause I don' t know how to get that screw tight and secure. My knobs wobble around. Any advice?

    About the price of these tactile switches... same goes with the RAM, you can buy 3 times cheaper laptop RAM that suits your MPC perfectly rather than buying the AKAI RAM... Theyre both the same, do the same thing last a same time span... I did that exactly, google it up.

    Question: Does anyone know how to repair the data wheel on the Mpc500, when it does not move the selections on the data screen.
    An heavy object was placed on top of it during an incident that pressed down to hard on the wheel, during a moment when all equipment was being moved, the object wasnt too heavy, yet heavy enough to injure it, so when spinning the wheel, it does nothing on the data screen. Yet sometimes it does, with great effort. Upon removing the casing of the mpc500, and removing the wheel, i noticed it is structured differently then other mpcs underneath.
    What can be done to secure the wheels grip, or must something be done with the object underneath?

      did you find a fix?

    • @LawrinMaxwellsmpc500
      @LawrinMaxwellsmpc500 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      had the same problem on my first mpc 500, you can buy the data wheel and it's required pieces that need soldering off of eBay. you need a soldering iron to fix it. it's a common problem I never fixed mine I figured out how to manipulate the data wheel but it still was difficult to get results on screen. I relented and bought a second mpc 500. on this unit I'll make sure I'm more careful. I hope you can fix your unit bro. ..

    Thank you for the video. I have one quick question: Before you removed the tact switch, does the actual plastic button just pop out and then back in after you replaced the tact switch or is there any soldering involved with the actual plastic button. Thank you kindly.

    • @mastaboog749
      @mastaboog749 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you didn't figure it out already you can just pop the rubber buttons off when the case is removed.
