Cats also have a fantastic memory of those they love. I have a friend who had two feral cats who were afraid of everyone. I once cat sitted for her when she was gone for a month. The cats got used to me because I fed them. Many years later, after a long absence, I went to visit my friend. We were talking in the kitchen. Upon, hearing my voice, the cats came running to greet me. They don’t forget.

One of my kitties was very close to a canary I had already when I brought him home. Corky's health started to decline shortly afterwards. I'm sorry for your loss. I got my cat for my partner last year, but he unfortunately passed away over the holidays. I was never a cat person, but I'm really lucky to have this cat to cheer me up with his affectionate head butts and cuddles.
i just adopted a cat a week ago. She started to behave like a naughty cat since yesterday and I m so happy. She is so happy n relaxed now in her new home :)
The special moments with my kitty are never missed. In fact, I can't go to the bathroom without her pushing the door open and walking in, only to walk right back out. 😮
I've burst into tears several times in front of my kitty, for various reasons, and I've gotten the impression that she's confused and I've apologized...not sure how much she understands, though. She does understand her name :).
She’s very concerned as cats pick up on emotions. Just reassure her you may be sad or unwell but not to worry. Give lots of slow blinks as they are cat kisses
Cats absolutely respond - and respond appropriately, to human emotions. Provided they have a connection with that human - sometimes it doesn't even take long. It just takes attentiveness - pay attention to them like you would a human you liked and they'll probably respond to it in noticeable ways.
Our indoor cat is so cuddly that she lays next to me and deliberately drapes her tail over my arm. If your cat "hugs" you with his tail, it is kitty cat affection of the highest degree.
You are absolutely correct, and I'm sorry for your loss - whenever it took place. I also hope you'll share your love with another kitty - she/he will be different of course, but I'm sure you'll form a wonderful bond with them as well ❤
When my 20 years old cat (best friend) died, I thought I will never have any pet again. After 2 month his veterinary doctor called me and said, that she saved a kitten from death and was taking care of his health for some period, and as he was already healthy, she was looking for a home for him. I still was very depressed because of my BBF died, but doctor convinced me to at least came and meet the kitten. Well, ofcource I came back home with this kitten)) He was a pure devil, but it totally helped me to switch from depression to completely new things, as I had to deal with this pure devil kitten. Now he is 8 and I cant imagine my life without my beast, even that I wasnt prepared for this cat at all 8 years ago. Actually, now I have 2 cats because when the beast was 4, we adopted him a friend (it seemed to me, that he needed someone else to play with).
My kitten is laid up on me right now knocked out. Lol He's been sleeping on my chest last 3 hrs. He checks all these boxes. I love him so much. He's my first ever cat. I've had him a month now, but we bonded the second I met him at the shelter. ❤❤
When you want a cat, put yourself in a situation where the cat picks you. Sit or lay on the floor or ground and see what happens, Whisper sweet nonsense and slow blink. Talk gently and smile. Put out food if they are colony cats. The cat or kitten that wants to come home with you will let you know. A hint: if a bonded pair both show interest, take the two -- they and you can be very happy together (there is more than enough love to go around)!!!! BTW, you will know a bonded pair if they just seem "together" - you will know. Love, peace.
When my cat (or other cat) shows me their tail, I gently pet it. Cats sniff each others' bums as a greetings so as a hoomin I pet the tail as a hello and goodbye. They seem to like it.
I had a lilac point Siamese that was my soulmate. Followed me everywhere, laid on my shoulders while I cleaned. Wrapped his tail around my arm when we slept at night, he even mocked me calling him with his meows. He would even get severe depression when I was out of town for more than a few days 💔. I lost him far to early do to a tragic accident, but I will love him always…❤
In two weeks my daughter and I are bringing home our kittens!!! Weve visited them weekly since they were born and honestly, I believe our kittens chose us! My autistic teen daughter has the sweetest sparkly ✨️ bouncey-est, most playful, lil grey and white Tiger markings kitty ever, her name is Bluebell cos she's almost blue she's so grey and the bluebells flowered here in the UK 🇬🇧 the week they were born, and I have the floppy-est, snuggley, prettiest, gentle lap kitten you've ever met and I suffer from a chronic pain condition that leaves me sat down with heat pads a lot, so perfect! Shes fluffy and grey with white socks and tummy and I've called her Ziggy Stardust ⭐️ and we are both in love cos they are so STINKIN CUTE!!! ❤❤❤❤
I found a kitten in my front garden, and now it follows me around the house gurlging, playing, purring. It sleeps with me. Were best friends 😊 and we literally communicate super well, it's hilarious I love her
My “Buddy” had a semi feral mom. I became a friend and she would bring me “presents”. She would always hang out with me on my porch. When her litter dropped she had disappeared then she brought the litter one by one to my porch hiding under my porch. As they got bigger they would be playing all around me. I had become family with them. Buddy learned to climb my pants leg to at first sit on my lap. Later he climbed up and laid down on my chest inside my jacket or sweater where he would sleep almost all day. Even if I got up and walked around he was content to stay inside my jacket. He was the best and everything I could have ever asked for. My Buddy.
What an incredible story you have with Buddy and his semi-feral mom! It's truly heartwarming how she trusted you enough to bring her kittens to your porch, making you a part of their extended family. It's amazing how animals can sense kindness and return it with such loyalty and affection. Buddy sounds like he was more than just a pet; he was a true companion. Stories like yours remind us of the extraordinary relationships we can build with animals when we offer them our love and patience. Thanks for sharing this beautiful bond you had with My Buddy. 🐾💖
@@Feline_Fanatics That’s how he got his name. I actually loved him so. He would come out as soon as he knew it was me. Every day he would crawl up just to cuddle all day with me. I was heartbroken when he tried following mom around at night and was hit and killed. I wondered where he was one day and then saw his body in the road. I’ll never forget that guy. He was all the best and I’ve always had cats but never have I seen one so loving. His warmth his playful demeanor he was the best. That was Buddy. I miss him so.

I always go back to their natural habitat and then it makes so much sense. Cats (and dogs) are desinged for grassland hunting. Thats why they communicate with their tails, thats why they have feremones that come off when they rub on things. They are built to run through grass and not be seen becasue they are shorter than the grass that they are around. When they want to hide, they put their tail down and no other cat can see them. But when they want to communicate with eachother, they put their tail up above the grass and other cats can see it. The tip then communicates whatever they want to communicate with the group. They see the tails of other cats (dogs are the same) and when they no longer want to talk, their tails come down again. It's almost like talking ships used to do by waving flags. The feremones things, well they rub past all the grass that they are goingg through and it leaves smell trails that they can follow. so they "see" the scent of all the different cats going all different directions, look in that direction and either see a tail (come here and look at this) or not (don't come here, I'm hunting something). Closed eyes means "I'm comfortable to close my eyes and you won't steal my food/toy or attack me or if you do get food, you will share" Slow blink means "I'm pretty comfortable with you - but I don't trust you too much lols" When you slow blink at your cat, you are saying the same thing back to them. Genuinely, it all makes sence when you take it back to their natural environment. Crying and kneeding mean "I'm a baby and havn't grown up yet, so baby me". I just say that they are saying "I'm baby!!!". Trilling means "I'm here" or "I'm going now". When my cat trills near me, I normally trill back letting them know that I'm here too and realise they are here.
When I told my husband Mitz says “mom” he snickered- the other night he got all excited and said “oh my god hun, she said mooomm in here” now I laugh at him
We live in the suburbs with an acre of property. Our cat goes outside a good bit. When she is outside our fenced in backyard she acts like she doesn’t know who we are. Once she comes into the backyard over the fence she knows us again. It’s a bit zany, but we have become accustomed to it.
Cats are so very cute and finds a way to make you calm. At dinner time our cats, we have 2 they need to be at the feed mat having a snack when we are eating. If the snack is consumed and they want a bit more my boy reaches and taps my shoulder to indicate more please, he is sooo gentle when he ask.
My cat sometimes sits beside me but kinda on me...the equivalent of someone resting their arm on your shoulder. He sits with me like this when we watch TV sometimes. We dont play with rest and relaxation in my house!
Cats in pain purr, too. Maybe part of self-calming? The slow blink means you're not a threat (i.e. predator) and therefore no need to be visually vigilant.
4:48 my cat always reacted to my voice, beside when he took my place. Then it's like he was deaf. Not even an ear twitch when i called him. He knew he was on my place, and ignored my calls to get my place back ... lil critter xD
I spoiled my Maine Coon cat with tuna, ice cream, etc. I brushed him twice a day because he was always picking up twigs, small pinecones, on his outdoor adventures. I had to put a pillow on my lap so that he could take his long naps on ME! He was quite a cat. Every now and then, I would catch him staring at me. He looked at me like I was a GOD.

Yes pretty much. As far as I remember reading on it, it is excitement and/or spreading their scent. My cat does this almost every morning and I interpret it as being excited I've awakened so I can give them pets and food lol
This sounds more like over-stimulation. The first bites could be saying back off. There might be other clues that are very subtle. Stop petting before you want to. There are a lot of good videos explaining this issue. All the best.
Actually all of this could be boiled down to ONE point. Does your cat AVOID you? If it's more often than not? You in the I'm just tolerating you faze. But if they literally attack you to draw blood? Your definitely in the I HATE you GUTS faze. I received a young cast off cat from a family and their cat had kittens and Pepper was the left-over no one really wanted and well I realized that I was lonely to an unhealthy degree. My parents retired to another state with WARMER weather and my only surviving sister wouldn't care whether I was alive or dead so I have NO family anymore on that note and as far as me being social? Good luck for those who work third shift. I'm plenty social at work but on the same note? Can't be too much as we are ALL here to get a job done. The trigger that happened? I found a motherless kitten and fell in love with him INSTANTLY even after the first five SECONDS of picking him up? He was shitting on me?!? But I also knew he was just a baby so I couldn't be mad at him at all and he was starving and badly malnourished. It took a month to actually get him health... then I made the BIGGEST mistake I could make. I gave him grilled chicken from work. He LOVED it and just about refused to eat anything else. Well, it was seasoned with lime juice which I knew but I didn't realize how TOXIC lime is to cats. A few weeks later he had a seizure and died that same day. Named him Buddy because I desperately needed a buddy and after fighting with him for almost two months to help him live? Only after I did some serious research I finally figured out I poisoned him. Here I was trying to treat him for worms... but nope, it was the grilled chicken. His fleas were hard too because I knew in his weaken state? Even flea collars could kill him. Then a co-worked told me her mom has a cat she wants to get rid of and that's HOW I have Pepper now. Refused to change the cat's name BECAUSE she knows it and? She's a snuggle angel. I though it would take a couple weeks of her GETTING to know me before she warmed up to me. Nope, it was IMMEDIATE. This cat trusted a perfect stranger on day one. I don't know how or WHY she accepted me instantly. But I DO know if I let her? She would have me holding her ALL DAY. She is a extremely sweet cat. But cats are like people too and just as there is always a bad apple in a group of people? Sometimes you CAN run into a bad apple of a cat too, granted it's more rare. Some cats are easily TRIGGERED and you don't have to be the source if or when 'other' people abused them. I STILL can't believe Pepper let me walk away with her taking her from here current family so easily but I've also made a point of NOT letting her regret it either. Cats are a responsibility and it's up to YOU to figure them out and once you take in a pet? You are basically making it YOUR family.
Oh, absolutely! My cat does the same thing, but when she spots flies and mosquitoes. So, you're definitely not alone in witnessing this cute behavior! 🐱🐦🐜
Does anyone know what it means if your cats do a little paw twitch with one of there front paws while walking/sitting or both paws when they are laying down??
Besides stretching and showing relaxation, these twitches can sometimes be a cat's way of communicating. For example, a slight twitch while sitting or standing might indicate anticipation or excitement about something, like when they're focusing on a bird outside the window or getting ready to pounce on a toy. When they're lying down, the twitching, especially if it's both paws, can indeed be related to dreaming, as their muscles might react to whatever adventure they're having in dreamland. Cats also have a special reflex known as the "pedal reflex," which can cause a twitching motion in their paws when their pads are touched. However, if you notice the twitching is excessive or seems to be causing your cat discomfort, it could be worth mentioning to your vet, just to rule out any medical issues.
Enjoyed the video and have observed this in my (should say his) cat. However 0 purrs or nervous meows at the vet. Wild growls and constant spitting at her. Any suggestions? The vet had to knock her out to examine her the last time. Anesthesia isn't good for humans-much less a cat who cannot always communicate side effects.
One suggestion might be to gradually acclimate your cat to the carrier and car rides by making them a part of regular life, not just for vet visits. Also, consider using calming pheromone sprays in the carrier and on blankets, or even a shirt with your scent in the carrier to help soothe your cat. Some vets offer or recommend sedatives or anti-anxiety medication that can be given before a visit, which might be less intense than anesthesia.
I have 6 cats and they all do pretty much everything you have listed here. I have one of my cats who will follow me to the toilet and she always turns her back on me to show me her bum. I love my cats dearly and I know they love me back.
Looking at it from the cats perspective would it be better to have one cat or two cats ? If you have two cats is it better to have them from the same litter so they would have that bond or does it matter ? If you have two cats should you have 2 litter boxes or one ? Same with the food bowl is it ok to share food bowl ?
Cats do love some company, so having a buddy can be awesome for them, especially if you're away a lot. If you're thinking of getting two, grabbing siblings from the same litter can make things smoother since they've already got that sibling bond going on. But if you find two cuties from different places-they can still become besties with a bit of patience and proper introductions. Now, about the practical stuff: definitely aim for a litter box for each cat, plus one extra if you can swing it, to keep the peace. And food bowls? Some cats are totally ok sharing, but others might give you the stink eye over it. Watching how they get along can help you figure out if you need to double up on those too. 🐾🏡
Definitely a well kept secret. I've so many strides in my dealings with people I've bonded to over the years simply because I made the decision to take my pants down and spread my cheeks. My relationships became so good with these amazing folk that they called police for welfare checks for a few years after just to make sure I was doing okay! I don't ever hear from any of them anymore but I know that's just because our friendships are just that strong! Infact, I can already think of a few new friends I have made that I think I'm ready to show my trust to. 😊
Cats also have a fantastic memory of those they love. I have a friend who had two feral cats who were afraid of everyone. I once cat sitted for her when she was gone for a month. Absolutely. They don't forget, but they don't hold grudges too long either. They live in the moment.
I watched this video despite I don't have any pets yet. that's how much I love cats.

By naughty, I hope you mean playful. A cat takes weeks to decompress and relax.
@@kathymc234 yes I mean playful. And started to show me belly. :) yesterday she brought her tuna to my bed 😂
I miss my girl so much. She checked pretty much all these boxes and I don't know if I'll ever have a cat like her again.
Please adopt another when the time is right, you have a lot of love to share.
A cat deserves a Human like you. Perhaps you should visit a shelter and see who you connect with
I understand. But if you love cats, give it some time, and then adopt again. 2 out 3 euthanasia's in a shelter are cats. Please save a life.
My kitten is laid up on me right now knocked out. Lol He's been sleeping on my chest last 3 hrs.
He checks all these boxes. I love him so much. He's my first ever cat. I've had him a month now, but we bonded the second I met him at the shelter. ❤❤
Great video! Right on all points. Cat's are so wonderful.
They're absurdly adorable. Cats are fantastic company when ya get to know them. Maybe I should get another cat finally.
Watched this video with my cat Nova laying on my lap, she was quite intrigued seeing all the different kitties in the video😂
I don't need to wonder if my cat loves me, he makes it crystal clear every day!!!
I am so sorry you lost your precious cat, especially to an accident. May the love you had help you find your way to happiness again.
Were best friends 😊 and we literally communicate super well, it's hilarious I love her
I like these videos because of the knowledge I've learned about my cat's communication skills
@@HVSJR-n5q I'm so incredibly sorry. What a heartbreaking moment it must have been to find him like that. It sounds like he was a true friend. It's clear he was one in a million. I hope these memories of him, of all the love and the special moments you shared, can bring you some comfort.
I have high-functioning autism and my cat shows a lot of affection to me.
All these are true 🥰
Most of a cats language/communication is with its body ❤🐱
@@Shannon-Smith yes 💯❤🙏🇬🇧
I love cats so much. They are the best.
My two cents.
I love cats more than my wife.
When I told my husband Mitz says “mom” he snickered- the other night he got all excited and said “oh my god hun, she said mooomm in here” now I laugh at him
What a lovely video!
I didn't realize "love bites" were a sign of affection until years after our last cat died. 😢
Interesting video, thanks for sharing!
Gotta go hug my cats now, brb.
My cat sometimes sits beside me but kinda on me...the equivalent of someone resting their arm on your shoulder. He sits with me like this when we watch TV sometimes. We dont play with rest and relaxation in my house!
Same here. Then I feel guilty when I have to get up because it wakes her up!😄
Thanks for this! 😊❤
Cats in pain purr, too. Maybe part of self-calming?
The slow blink means you're not a threat (i.e. predator) and therefore no need to be visually vigilant.
Slow blink back to your cat❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My cat is such a sweetheart, I have a lot of nightmares and in response to that my cat will cuddle with me
My first cat is about a year old now and shes coverted me to a cat person. Plus my cat is 100% the best cat ever 😊
Omg! My cat loves me soooo much. She bites me all the time and sticks her butt in my face. Lol! I thought she didn't like me.

What about when your cat’s tail quivers at the tip? I think that it means that he’s glad I’m home.
Yes pretty much. As far as I remember reading on it, it is excitement and/or spreading their scent. My cat does this almost every morning and I interpret it as being excited I've awakened so I can give them pets and food lol
what about drooling all over u ... mine when im petting him drools . .. its almost dog like . hes picked up on some of the dogs behaviors too
My cat switches from love bites to bite bite so fast, and for no reason
Never mentioned the affection if it's a boy or girl cat.❤
My cat makes a bird chirping sound. Does anyone else’s cat do this?
@@Feline_Fanatics awesome thank you! I figured it was from excitement cause it usually happens when I get home to 2 of the 3 of my cats!
My cat has never purred. Never. I wonder why?
When I sit in a chair, he sits on the armrest. i’ve moved to a different chair, so does he.

Among humans, it is also a sign of trust to show the asshole to others
Definitely a well kept secret. I've so many strides in my dealings with people I've bonded to over the years simply because I made the decision to take my pants down and spread my cheeks. My relationships became so good with these amazing folk that they called police for welfare checks for a few years after just to make sure I was doing okay! I don't ever hear from any of them anymore but I know that's just because our friendships are just that strong!
Infact, I can already think of a few new friends I have made that I think I'm ready to show my trust to. 😊

First time hearing about gurgling. My male cat does that when he is excited. I was wondering why he did it since I had never heard about it.

Not sure what he meant by gurgling
