I wouldn't want to be responsible for fitting the tracks onto that monster!! Any former soldiers with tracked vehicle experience will know what I mean!😳
I'm not the first to say it, but at 9:35, it is a track frame and rollers for a large P&H mining shovel. The car itself (PHMX 4428) belongs to the builder, P&H Mining Equipment. The heavy welded-in brackets and I-beams to hold it in place was neat to see. Pay attention to that, modelers.
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains in multiple locations, I like them, they're awesome, @Virtual Railfan, thank you very much and have a nice day and night.
Dear 89 in PA, a cool caboose in Revy, that wonderful passenger car en route to Strasburg, and those fabulous storms and clouds--and the music at the end, as always, was perfect--especially the part where the FRED went away just as the music faded. Another great one!

The VIA Rail Trains at Kearney looked really modern and 'latest' specification - and clean too, in all that rain. I was hoping to see the Switcher at Paradise spot the Hopper on the Interchange, however it was great to see No.89 with a well-loaded Passenger Train. Moguls are my favourite Locomotive Wheel Configuration.
The comments about under carriage for a machine are right, I would guess a mining shovel. Pretty sure it's not a dozer or excavator, maybe a big crane? Regardless, it's neat to see something like that on a flat car. Kind of unusual to not see it on a truck.
Carousel machine for an airport. Baggage comes up and out the angled chute and the horizontal wheels move the angled plates [to be installed] around the circumference.
The heavy metal on the yellow bulkhead flat car came from Komatsu either manufactured in Milwaukee or coming from an East Coast port. In the last month several of their cars were seen going east empty to apparently pick something up that came over by ship. The reporting marks are a reflection upon the previous owner of the car P&H Harnischfeger cranes which was purchased by Komatsu
@@reggiep671yes it does both inner and outer. Trailing initials & # really easy to read. While they look like regular Flats I remember they can carry about one and a half times the weight. Sensei built you can see all the welding that has occurred to hold their unique loadings in place. They probably only get used two or three times a year and most of these were built specially by Maxon car of the Twin Cities
Is the NS coach at Strasburg because they just acquired it or did someone send it there for restoration? And to which rail line do those bilevels in Burlington belong to. Also, it's nice to see that kid dressed up as a locomotive.
No idea where those bilevels are going. They probably came from the tourist railroad in Saratoga, NY, that folded a while back. Those are Long Island Railroad C1s. The C1 was the prototype for the main production run of C3 bilevels. Of course, the two types are not compatible (different HEP systems), so the C1s became oddballs and were retired early, getting scattered to various tourist operations around the Northeast.
At 5:24 it look exactly like an SD45 right? Well in front of the F just to the right of the steps it says SD40-2 HP3000 a SD45 has 3600 HP. What is this locomotive then? Edit: is this a SD40-2 with a SD45 body?!
When a whole passenger train is the only freight, do they observe the freight train speed limit, or can the open it up to the passenger train speed limit?
OCS trains run at freight speed for the most part. The engines are limited to max freight speed. Same applies when a freight engine is pulling an AMTRAK train.
Whatever it is, will sure look gigantic once assembled. Nature must be going bonkers watching homosapiens building all sorts of crazy stuff. 😌 🙏 Live Long N Prosper
There is an exception if you are stopped not actively performing any safety sensitive tasks, only then, if the other crew member agrees that you can use your phone, you can use it. I'm not sure what the rules are about both employees using phones at the same time however. Someone will have to inform me on that part.
Guess posting links to other sites is banned. Ugh. If you are interested in a little more information regarding that large item at 10:00, apparently there is a company that sells parts for them. Boundary Equipment. Hopefully this is allowed.
At Horseshoe Curve the rear helper sets (two engines with cabs outward) are usually crewed, because they only stay with the train for a short distance. They assist with power uphill and braking downhill. Elsewhere, as per NW611's reply, they're controlled by radio from the leading cab.
No turning facilities at Paradise so engines in reverse to there and run forward return to Strasburg (so a 50/50 split). This means forward facing engines for the crowds at station. Also incidentally with grade up to Strasburg makes it easier to maintain boiler water level over crown sheets.

That was a track assemble for a very big dozer. Laying on its side.
LOL, I was way off. I was guessing a ski-lift terminal.
hey I thought it was a ski lift thingy too! 😭 Until I noticed that both ends had wheels lol, now I’m also pretty sure it’s a dozer’s track assembly 👍🏾
Think so too, the large 'sprocket' is probably the 'drive sprocket' and the others are just rollers.
looked like part of an engine or something
I think it’s some type of chain drive.
That was the left roller blade for the Jolly Green Giant. Ho ho ho.
Beat me to it!!
Beat me too, but didn't see until after I said it.
My first thought too
9:36 Looks like a large single crawler assembly, as in a crawler crane or excavator, but without the track.
Spot on, a track sponson assembly for a crane, dozer or hoe.
I wouldn't want to be responsible for fitting the tracks onto that monster!! Any former soldiers with tracked vehicle experience will know what I mean!😳

So cool to see the Monongahela heritage unit at 0:50, I have an HO scale model of 8025 on my layout!
Definitely a large track drive
Yes!! Its one side of a crane crawler track without the track. Thats one big crane!!!
Bet it has something to do with a ski lift or a gondola, something of that sort?

Saw a similar VIA train in Chicago south suburbs about a month ago. I think it was only a single train with the UP lead engine.
it is part of a chairlift or ski lift
Prefer watching trains vs river cruise ships!😂😅

The VIA train sets rolled through Blue Island (Chicago) in the last day or two. On their way to Canada I would assume.
Does anyone know where the LIRR C1 coaches are being sent to in Burlington IA at 12:25? Another set for the Keewatin Railway, maybe?
I was wondering the same thing

Hi Virtual Railfan & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks Virtual Railfan &Friends Randy
Someone heading to the mine today. It's very rare to see it. Assembly of a power shovel.
I agree. I think it is for an electric powered mining crane. The box on the training end of the assembly probably holds the electric motor.
I was thinking crawler crane
Green Giant's roller blade.
simple: that thing is the thingamabob
9:33 The thing in the thumbnail does not get explained. Does anyone here know what it is?
It's the track frame for a P&H (Komatsu) mining shovel.
Look It's 2 Via Rail Trains
That is NOT a track assembly for a dozer. That is a 132,500 pound steel crawler frame assembly, part of a a P&H 2800XPC electric shovel.
Close, it has holes for 16 super bolts on each side for mounting to the carbody which would likely make it for a 4100. The 2800 has 12 per side.
The thing at 9:57 looks lile either a dozer or excavator track or a tram wire rollor akak the wheels for a tram wire conteces to the poles
I'm wondering if that odd piece of equipment on the flat car is part of the undercarriage for possibly mining equipment, dozer perhaps?
9:49 with two big wheels and 9 small wheels, I think it's a track system
I think a end unit for a rotory coal shovel in Montana
Looks like Luke Skywalkers speeder
The part in ??? looks like the side wheel set for a Tank, just like the one I installed on my vintage 1980's GI JOE Mauler Tank toy.
Awesome video

The bulkhead was really clean, almost like they painted it after it was loaded.

I think it’s going to a inclimepain in Johnstown
David ward7570 is right! It's for a mine company!
Yeah I'm thinking it's a dozer track guide or a Aerial Tram guide rollers or motor
Looks like a left side frame for a Cat rope shovel .
Something for Parker Schnable!!!
10:08 I think that’s a big crane track
At the very beginning was that a new via train ore did it brake down ???
New equipment being delivered.

Something to guide something big passing smoothly by!? 😮 🤔

Hi
Roller blades for the Jolly Grern Giant?
I saw one of those before. I'ts a Wingwong for a Wobbydong.
Why did they wait till the caboose went by to zoom in on it??

Yes. It's an SD45 remanufactured with a prime mover and electrical components of an SD40-2. It's a common conversion for old SD45s.
Okay good to know thank you!
Could that be the drive mechanism for a ski lift or gondola?
is it from a ship the ancher?
At 10:09 WTH is Dat!???😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
2:45 Why do they ship those large power transformers with empty flatcars between them?
Most likely so they don't overload bridges

I see somebody is using the former prototype multilevel LIRR cars in Iowa
Question, the engines that are at the end of a train, are those manned by anybody?
No. those are what are called DPU’s (Distributed Power Unit) but some times they are manned. But that’s usually on short line railroads.
@NW611 thank you
At Horseshoe Curve the rear helper sets (two engines with cabs outward) are usually crewed, because they only stay with the train for a short distance. They assist with power uphill and braking downhill.

What happened to the Livestream in Princeton Indiana? Did it get taken down?
So what exactly WAS the thing on the Ft Madison cam at 10:02??
Crawler track drive train for a bulldozer or excavator, but without the track,
Why do they run the steam engines backwards all the time at Paradise?
No turning facilities at Paradise so engines in reverse to there and run forward return to Strasburg (so a 50/50 split). This means forward facing engines for the crowds at station. Also incidentally with grade up to Strasburg makes it easier to maintain boiler water level over crown sheets.
