      Cheers Michael :-) Yep knee has remained good today so hoping that I've seen the last of that injury if I keep being careful. It was fun running with Fordy and he did a great job catching me up and getting his PB. That ice cream was something special!

      Thanks :-) For me it was all about the knee and I was fortunate that it came good. Paul and Fordy and some of the others we met on the day got some great PBs. It was a flat and fast course so great PB potential. I reckon I'll be back another year when hopefully I'll be fully fit and can go for it.

      Cheers mate :-) I'm very thankful that I didn't get a reoccurence of the injury and could enjoy the day. Will give it plenty of time to rest this week and still have some physio sessions left to do but certainly looks positive at the moment.

      Thanks mate :-) It's a bit of a relief to say the least. I had all sorts of visions of a DNF vlog but fortunately that didn;t happen and it turned out to be a great day out beside the seaside.

      Thanks Sarah :-) It's great meeting up with other running TH-camrs at races. But did you see the National Running Show, there were loads of us. Cameras all over the place - haha.

      Here We Are Running yes, that looked awesome 😎 might have to go one year, but I know I will go crazy with my credit card at the stalls 😱🤗

      Certainly worth going, the talks are really good as well but yes, you do need to make sure you don't get too carried away at the stalls :-)

    Well done, great to see you rested up and came back strong! I am out with a knee issue at the moment, but not been as good as you and given it some proper rest. I am stuck between a rock and hard place as I have a 50k at the end of the month. Mind me asking what injury you had and what helped? Mine seems to be tight quads pulling on the top of the knee.

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks :-) It's never easy resting but sometimes we just have to. My injury was just below the knee. After the Run Gatwick half marathon it was noticeable even when walking but going up / down stairs was the worse. I had 4 physio sessions (including ultasound treatment) and daily stretching. I had 2.5 weeks of zero running and then in the 1.5 weeks prior to the Southend Half I did a 3.5K easy run, and a 5k and 10K steady run. Giving it a complete week of rest this week and will try and start up a normal routine at the weekend. Hope your knee recovers in time for your 50k. Are you seeing a physio about it?

    • @TheLukejitsu
      @TheLukejitsu 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Saw a PT last week who taped me up (not sure it did much to be honest) and have a follow up on Thursday. I have stopped all running now, and just do a lot of core work and stretches. Mine feels ok after just a couple of days rest, but as soon as I run again it comes back. I think maybe I need to take a more sober return to running and ease back in.

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you are right. After my first week of no running, I wasn't noticing the injury but a did a short jog up a slight incline to speak to someone and straight away the pain was back. Sometimes we just need to avoid running longer than we'd like to let it heal.

    Good run mate, but what a dreary course! The Colchester HM route looks nicer I have to say.

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jason. I've not done Colchester before. Southend is a very flat course so ideal if you want to challenge for a PB but it is two laps and it's at the quieter end of the Southend sea front. It's a shame that they can't close off the busier end (which is probably more interesting) and make it a single lap.

    • @jasonlee3247
      @jasonlee3247 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here We Are Running I’ve not done either, but the organisers at Colchester have a TH-cam video and the course doesn’t look too bad. I’m not keen on those lap races, or those where you go up and back down the other side of cones.
      Another chap on here has a video of Gosport (I think) and that course seems very similar to Southend.
