Just bought a similar one 2002 525d manual with Gps bluetooth touch screen central computer ( after matket android ) and reverse camera. The car is just perfect. Highly recommend.

@@arlind530d yup it's such a good car but so much heavier than my previous 530d e39 and the quality (especially for plastics and EVERY buttons) is not as good as the e39 (really) but I don't regret my choice at all
Hello , i have E36 with M50 engine 192 hp , when i hit 200 km/h at 5 th gear and 6500 rpm i really worry about the engine ! Do you think its bad for the mecanic especially the water pump ?

Even though I now drive as a daily a Mazda 6 MPS with a measly 274hp (USA MAP) , I miss my old BMW E39.
When I'll get bored of the MPS6 i think I'll buy myself again an E39 and slap a turbo on it 😊

Very nice, 530d 142kw is the best diesel engine, automatic gearbox goes to 250kmh bc have TCC and rpm dont goes to red line

You should make some modifications in ECU, and can take more speed... You need to change Speed limiter and some Torque limiters... may be some boost on high revs and you can take 250kmh on stock engine... I take 230 on old M47 engine...
But i think its better to drive without a 6 Speed gearbox with max 4500 rpm...
250kmh would bring this engine to 4900rpm in 5th gear, there is no sense, it simple can't be done without 6th gear.
You should keep the camera recording the speedometer even if you're out from the autobahn

There is no limiter in the e39d. Simply no more revs, the gearbox is too short.

Why do you need to be so aggressive on the shifts.. Like.. The car is almost 20 years old. I bet you can enjoy it without dumping the clutch every gear.
Some people here needs basic understanding how engine develop power trough rpm range, also look at diesel power curve when you claim that this engine can reach 250-255kmh @4900-5000rpm.
I know you all are enthusiast but it will bring light on this subject, top speed, gear ratios etc.
It stops in a very weird way at 230kmh it's almost like it wants to go more but it's restricted does anyone know why ,is it a limiter or something?
Old comment, but for everyone reading, engine reached point where it doesn't make any more power needed for higher speed, so it cant accelerate any more, furthermore peek power is probably around 4k rpm and dropping after that but it keeps accelerating after that because because it can achieve 230kmh with, let's say ~180hp, so it's not problem to accelerate even if the engine dropping power.
It looks like the engine is at maximum revolutions.
wow it hit rev limiter at 230km/h .no 6th gear ? nowadays 6 Th gear is considered standard especially for diesel powered cars.

Hi, do you know if e39 530d automatic specifically, came with GM and ZF transmissions or just GM? Which is better? I've been reading that the GM had a max rated torque of 300/350 nm while the 530d pumps out 390/410 nm. Is the ZF better?

awww you can see on the consumption gauge how the engine is rev limiting :( - it defenately needs another gear or just a limiter on 5k rpm :)
Sims to have some electronic limitator, look like the car can do more than 230 km/h, You can see the tachometer didn't go above 4500 rpm.

and e39 fuel level indicators are not that great, mine is pretty stupid it goes up while i am driving, i get a good reading after 30-40 minutes of driving
@@caddy4350 lol yeah my old e39 did the same, sometimes you'd fire it up only for the fuel gauge to go below 0 for about 10 minutes.

my 525d e39 M57D25 163HP manual I was driving 220km / h and it was not the maximum speed ...
yes i had one, max speed 230 . i remap it and max speed upgrade to 240. A 530d is not faster because gearbox has same ratio, only wheels change. there is not limiter speed on 525d and 530d
I don't think in that concrete case we have more thant 180 - 190 hp, 40 horses gone away for aging.
The car is in poor condition. Everything creaks. It is heard how the suspension makes blows on bumps.

Typical wannabe chiptuning. 230 is real barely 220: It was even stock quicker. No real power gain just some torque limiter removed for quicker feel. And god what is this engine noisy and rough. Any modern 4 cyl diesel sounds better. This car is outdated and at end of life.
