- My Botox & Fillers Disaster, Quiche & The Voice
I am a 60 year old professional musician going through menopause, aging and divorce. I talk here about having fillers put in my face and having Botox injected.
The side effects were headache, drooping eye lids, uneven fillers and permanent ridges where the fillers were injected.
I can’t sleep so I make Quiche in the middle of the night...lol.
4 Eggs/3 cups grated SWISS & Cheddar cheese/ 1/2 c onions/8 oz. broccoli / 1/ 2 c heavy cream/ 1/2 cup of Parmesan Cheese/ salt & pepper ( a dash) BAKE at 350 for 1 hour
Try This Recipe!!! ( I double this recipe and make one with spinach and one with brocoli)

I love my children and grandchildren, I miss them so much but am ever so grateful for my wonderful life. I am poor but very rich indeed.

Unless you're performing some kind of "magic" with your camera, you absolutely do NOT need any kind of botox, filler, face lift, or any other cosmetic surgery! For Heaven's sake, you're beautiful just the way you are. You've been gifted with naturally classic beauty. Keep making those quiches.....they look delicious! xo

Its really nice to see someone who doesnt care for the botox and fillers for a change.. Im sorry about your experience, I would have been horrified!! But Im also very tired of seeing these beautiful women who talk and share about serums and such and then later come to find out that its not the serums that are working, but the botox or fillers.. Myself Im looking to age naturally and to find things that naturally help without needles or all that other.. Your videos are just so tender and kind, I cant get enough of what you share! I love how artistic and beautiful they are, its like watching/being with a friend

I just love you so much! I live your ability to express what many of us can’t. My grandchildren, whom I have had in my life since birth , along with mothering them, are moving away. So far away... the loneliness I feel is so huge. It’s grief , I know it is. Learning to accept it has been challenging
Yes, I try to explain to people how when a loved one moves away it's almost like they have died and no one understands. I hope you have found something to help with the grief and loneliness.

I had Botox injections over a 3 year period, then the last time I was injected I could suddenly not walk, sit up had extreme vertigo (still have) it's been almost a year now and I have not recovered enough to do basic physical things, my mobility is extremely limited, I am constantly battling vertigo and nausea and anguishing head pain when I move. I am not even 40 yet, was a fitness competitor and now I live in my bed...thank you for telling/sharing your Botox experience, people need to know the risks... It can ruin your life, it happened to me and There has been NO medical support whatsoever for this for me because they say it's safe they treat you like its 'just your body' instead of the poison and what it can do to you. what people need to know is that if you are one of the unlucky ones you are truly on your own...you are just trapped inside your body and unlike cancer there is NO support. Thank you for sharing this, it's nice for one moment not to feel alone in this, thank you. Xo

I don't trust Botox ...after I was injected I felt so ill...and that crushing pain caused me such anxiety because I knew it would take months for it to wear off....my eye drooped so badly and when I went back the the doctors, they laughed at me. Is shooting Botox really worth the risks? I 100% agree with you...it is not worth it..When the story is written on our lives, no person would care if we had eleven lines...our legacy will be hopefully measured in our accomplishments of making this planet a better place to live for humanity, for animals and for the keen understanding that we are all beautiful just the way we are and deserving of respect. When I watch this older video I cry. I was so profoundly lonely and scared. I made it through...and so much of the reason I smile now is becasue of all you great ladies that walk this life with me!

Nothing better than the smell of that quiche colking. Soul food!!! I know how you feel..my son lives 3000 miles away in California and I only see him a few times a year. My daughter lives with me part time but is engaged and will marry soon and move to NH. I can't tell you how many early mornings I am still awake and looking for a distraction. Next time...I'm making quiche Lorraine. Thanks for your recipe. Definitely trying it.

A very sad story from your life.I know we all have stories ,but it takes a special gal to tell it like it is. Your honesty is do appreciated. I am 65 and the last few days I have been very obvious of signs of aging. Listening to your story today I think I will embrace Mr face...just as I am.

I just discovered your channel, so I'm going back to when you began and progress to the year 2021. One of your comments you stated is " you may be poor but rich in spirit" you talk about your income of bringing in $900 dollars a month and doing extra jobs to make ends meet. How were you able to even get Botox and fillers when cosmetic procedures are usually not covered with insurance? I would not even be able to afford a consultation. I'm not being facetious or come across as sarcastic. I thought you might be able to share some tips how I could enjoy a few luxuries for myself. You are a fresh of breath air and enjoy your videos. Hi Jesse...I have no answers here for you; in fact, was wondering the same...(love her honesty) and how we can jot down (I’ll never remember !) even more women to enjoy.....and watch their videos.....I just wanted to say an early morning Hello to you and mention how we’re both here 6 years “late”....and how I’ve always wondered how to even check for any replies to my comments....never mind six years too late ! In addition to all symptoms you had, I had blood in urine due to UI and sever back and joint pain. Double vision and headaches. No Botox for me every again. Good luck with everything , wishing you all the best and thanks for sharing.

Hi Susan....I watched a few of your newer videos starting about a month ago ..and then found this one. I have to say its my fav so far. You really connected with me because this is how I feel right now. I also felt like that other times in my life when I was alone and things weren't working out. It makes you seem human and that every day is not a happy one. I have to say that I felt that I wanted to be your friend and tell you things would be ok and that you weren't alone. Looking at you in this video, it's hard to believe that you went through all of that or that you are 60 years old. You look fabulous!!
Such a sweet video. As for not having family near, have you ever thought of visiting some of the retirement homes? they so love visitors and singers. When my mother was in an assisted living facility, I got so attached to some of the residents. When my mother died, they were so comforting to me. There was a little old man that set in the hallway and sometimes played his harmonica.I went to my mothers room the day after she died, to pack up her things. I was alone and crying. Feeling guilt and doubt of how I handled her with her illness and the fact I was not with her when she died. ( my dad had just died two months before) Then I heard the soft harmonica from the hallway. It was Amazing Grace and It was so beautiful.. It was like a comforting blanket being wrapped around me. I felt and knew in tht instant that my prayers had been answered and my mother was with the Lord and free from physical and mental illness. That the rest of my life here would be without her, but I would be just fine. And when I get to missing her so much, the sound of that harmonica enters my very soul and I am, once again, comforted. Then there was another resident that would play the piano in the common area. I was told he had dementia, had forgotten most everything, but could still play the piano. It was during a hard time for me and I think I got more comfort and joy from those residents than I could give them. then there are the childrens hospital. I have a friend that goes there on a regular basis. And another that goes to the ICU for infants, just to hold and rock them. You have the gift of music, but I feel that you have so much more..............

Oh and Susan. The residents (and caretakers) love when visitors bring their dogs for a visit. You just have to check with them on the requirements. If Cooper is friendly and not easily stressed at strange environments, he would be great to go with you. I was in the process of getting my dog cleaned up and worked with so he could go with me to visit mom and the residents. My mom would have loved that. Like me, she loved animals.
Oh Susan, I just cried my eyes out......at the end of the video when you started talking about missing your kids and not having any family close by any more. That is my life right now. I told you in another post that I have been divorced...a couple of times. I am currently married, but separated; my current husband is a musician, so that tells you all you need to know about him..ugh! LOL, I also play piano and we performed together on and off since we met in 7th grade......so you can imagine. Sean is back on the road...doing his thing. I have 6 children and they are all grown. Don't get me wrong. I have been counting down the days until the youngest left last year...LOL, but the past few months so much has changed and I am not the same. I have realized that after raising all of these children alone.....and enjoying it along the way; But, a lot of it was hard as hell. It was terrifying some times. But now, I feel so alone. I have cried for the past couple of months on and off and I don't know what to do. I live in Daytona Beach. I can see the sunrise over the ocean from my bedroom window...I shouldn't feel so sad and depressed ...(cant have animals here, so I so wish I had a Dezi in my life. I remember my dogs were always my best friends like yours are) I love the beach....but @ 55 years old for the first time in my life, I am alone and I really feel lost. It just felt good to hear you express how you felt. I really don't have any "real" friends any more... My kids are doing their own things.....some are doing well and some not well at all. I blame myself and I know I shouldn't.....but it has been hard lately. I just wanted to say thank you....it was nice to have someone to cry with even if you are thousands of miles away....Thank You. I wish you were closer. You and I are so alike we would have an absolute blast together~! Keep doing what your are doing. You have no idea how many lives you are touching. oxoxo Dar

I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan were my three children and seven grandchildren still reside. My husband and I moved to Wisconsin in 2000 when he was offered a good job. The winters are sunny here and not as much snow. I take the S.S. Badger over to Michigan in the summer therefore only seeing my children once a year so I sympathize with you. Your an inspiration.

Susan where you have a problem on your face where the needle went in for botox, buy a glass bottle of Castor Oil and rub it on that area and it will fix that problem and your face will be very smooth and soft. Go to Google and research it. You will be amazed and very happy you used Castor oil. God bless you and prosper you in every area of your life. I am a faithful fan and admire you so much. Hi, Im new to you channel and this is the first video I've watched.. Im so sorry about the experience you had with the plastic surgeon.. Ive always been afraid to get anything done to my face even though now at the age of 45 I would love to have my eye lids lifted my face pulled back a little.. LOL but .. don't have the nerve, probably never will... Those quiche's looked delicious! I just went to your website and listened to some of your songs and I must say they are beautiful.. I can't hold a note in a bucket but I admit to having a very good ear for music and talent and your voice is beautiful.. I think I will buy your record.. I was watching old episodes tonight, never knew you had two son's had only heard you talk about the one. I have two boy's and a daughter too. I miss them all. I think Thanksgiving and Christmas can be really sad times of year.

Morning Susan. Wow, you should NOT have had that kind of experience w/ botox. You had a bad practioner, I'd say. Botox is actually used to treat migraines and fillers, if injected correctly do not leave injection marks. sorry about that for you. I guess there's a risk w any medical procedure. Donna Rhodes Hi Donna! When I started to get the headaches and drooping lid I called the doctor right away and they told me that those side effects sometimes happen ( and I was thinking why didn't you warn me and then I was thinking how stupid I was that I didn't research it!). I didn't have my eyes done because they said I was a smoker and I would not heal right unless I quit. So that was good. The filler left the ridges in my opinion because in that area I had acne scars (?). I am looking forward to seeing a new doctor and asking what happened. Looking back, I wish I had donated the $1200 to charity! I think it's funny since i quit smoking and put on 20 pounds that I supplied my own filler...free! LOL...thank you for being here Donna...have a great week-end!

Yes! You should do a Quiche video. I actually made your Quiche recipe tonight, even though it is so hot out here in California. 101 degrees today. The quiche came out perfect! Please do a video of you cooking up something in the kitchen. Your unique sense of humor always has me cracking up.

Very few times do I take the time to sign in and comment or "thumbs up" a video, but I did to yours. I found your video because I had a bad experience with Botox the first time I had it. It made my eyebrows droop and changed my appearance and made me feel unattractive for many months. I can swear that's what gave me a wonky eye 29 because prior to that I did not have one! Recently, I found a certified dermatologist who is supposed to be Beverly Hill's new "Thing" but the second time he used Voluma and Belotero things looked worse. I returned to him for a touch up because he did a fantastic job the first time, and confidently walked into his second office for the second time. End results? One chipmunk cheek bigger than the other, worse under eye darkness, hollows, and wrinkles than I walked in with. I have felt sad since then and now face potentially being charged to have this dissolved or redone. You wasted over a thousand, I wasted $2000 and have looser skin, pigmentation, skin discoloration, oh...but I bet he'll tell me it looks good to him when I walk in there. Hmmm. Will see how it goes. Your video was encouraging to see as it reminds me that other women go through this in the pursuit of staying young. (Sigh!) I like how graceful you are in sharing your story and the end made me teary eyed as I can also relate to you missing family and them not being near you. Good luck with your music making and thanks for being open about sharing on topics many of us can relate to. I am sure many find comfort and support through your videos.
You also have your TH-cam family :0) I think the American Voice is so much better than the UK you seem to have much better artists out there and the audience are loyal and buy the records where as here they disapear without a trace sadly. The nursing homes would loveto have you and Cooper. I work in a nursing home and the residents love when visitors come.

Your disaster story is exactly why I remain on the fence about having anything done myself. I would love to get some filler on sides of mouth, but just can't bring myself to take action on it. If I knew someone in my area that could recommend someone, I probably would go through with it. Your album and cover (you looked beautiful by the way) are really something to be proud of. Your music is beautiful. Loved your table scape with the glorious quiches starting at 8:06. I had to pause and look at everything you had displayed. So lovely. Can Cooper see the squirrels? Laurie
trixiegirlism Oh that is so sweet of you to say Laurie...nothing like baking and filming in the middle of the night...that wasn't a voice over so I think I was sort of sleep walking :) and talking about my sons. Cooper can see shadows and sometimes when deer are by the window he goes crazy!!! So I think he can see a little or maybe that's just wishful thinking. I am going to have to have my upper lids done and I think my insurance should cover it...that will make me very happy but all the rest of it...they say never say never, but I don't think it's for me.
Another thing we have in common:. Writing music from age 10! I'm so sorry to hear about the headaches you had. How long did they last? Your quiche look wonderful!!!!
