Are those drum brakes on the front or hidden disks? What's the front suspension and steering like and how is it compared to an IFS car with a rack n pinion? What's the deal with those old school wire wheels (specs and pattern) and how the heck do you find tires for it/what tires is it running? Lastly, if you had 10k-20k that you could sink into just this car, how would you change it, if at all?

Front brakes are drums from international truck with hydraulic wheel cylinders from a trailer with surge brakes. Front suspension is parallel leafs with lever action shocks. Wheels are 30s international 18x4, the are ( on 4.5 bolt center. Tires are 185/50-18 from m&h. I dont know that I’d change all that much with this one regardless of money available. Maybe go from lexan windows to glass. If I had another 10-20k I’d probably just build another car!

@@Pistonranch The lugs are "(" on 4.5? did you mean 9? Because 9 is on the "(" key on desktop. Unless you're replying on mobile then IDK. _checks video for a moment with the wheels off_ Looks like 5 lug to me. As far as the rest, I appreciate the answer. I suppose you have a point with "build another car" and I totally understand that. Not many people would sink 20k into 30's tech and a 30's body that's all still _very_ 30's aside from the powertrain at this point.
I'd be one of the few. IDK, I just feel "why not?" you know? Why NOT try to have your classic cake, and eat it by making it handle modernly, too? Hell, disc brakes are mandatory for me at this point because I personally hate everything about drums. So... I guess on some level, aside from disc brakes, a better presenting exhaust, creature comforts like glass and ac/heat, and maybe satin or matte clear the body to protect against further degredation; I wouldn't try _too_ hard to make this car be something it's not unless I was absolutel emotionally devoted to it.
Though I'm still curious as to how well someone could get a double solid axle car to handle the twisties and stuff. I hear, the lower the speed and smoother the surface, the less your suspension type matters. Obviously suspension _tuning_ (rates, damping, roll, mechanical grip) will still matter greatly, but stuff like solid axle vs independent, or even any given independent type compared to another matters much less the slower your "racing" speeds are and the smoother your surface is. Unless you have swing axles. From what I understand, swing axles are always ass, lol.
