    One of the main reasons why resistant starch improves health, is that it feeds the friendly bacteria in the intestine and increases production of short-chain fatty acids like butyrate.

    We peel and boil them in the Caribbean and eat them as a side dish with the meal or mash them like potatoes. They're also great made into a pie or used for scalloped green bananas. They're also a delicious treat when fried. Amazing how something common to one culture is odd to another.

      We all come from different places and backgrounds for sure. Like, on some Micronesian islands and I'm sure other places, people eat breadfruit. In Hawaii it's taro for the starch. Most people have no idea what either of those are, I'd bet. And the thing we might associate with Italians the most, pasta, was supposed to have come from China. Europeans used to think tomatoes were poisonous, too, and some thought corn was only fit for pigs. Some places eat rotten shark, some eat ... questionable ... eggs, Vietnamese culture loves fish sauce ...

    get the bob’s red mill potato 🥔 starch. It has no flavor. Just mix in water or smoothie. Take it morning and before bed.

    Don't forget raw old fashion rolled oats. I eat this daily (as a dessert after meals in a recipe I made by making some healthy changes to a "no-bake cookie" recipe) ... So delicious!

    You can also boil those green bananas and eat it with some steamed greens, curries etc. Caribbean people know what I’m talking about!

    I watched a number of Thai rice tests.
    Cooked; cold; refrigerated & recooked. Most were buttered & salted. Buttering seemed to lower the blood sugar spikes. But all spiked, measurements taken at the 30 , 60,120 & 180 minute marks. At least this particular type of white rice blows her theories into dust! Better luck next time.

    Green bananas must be cooked.Just cut the both ends ,boil in a little salt for 15-20mins.Add a little oil in the boiling water to prevent your pot from getting the gluelike stain from the bananas .Its definitely a resistance starch ,and perfect for weight loss.Caribbean ppl food ,that why we have less obesity problem here.

    Just learning about prebiotics after years of no benefit probiotics. Question I have is is resistant starch any different than normal fiber like chia seeds or avocado etc that I'm already eating?

      Resistant starch triggering IBS.(you probably have candida
      overgrowth) you need to fix that. That would take such things as Neem oil, Pau d'arco, garlic, clove, black seed oil, etc.

    Horrible advice eating things because it’s harder for your body to break down you don’t want starch processing in your body for a long time starch isn’t natural. They don’t even know what a plantain is “how do I eat this banana “ it’s not a green banana 😂

    This story about resistant starches is of little value. First you talk about what is resistant starch. Then you talk about benefits throughout most of the discussion. Then you make a few hints about possible sources which is incomplete. Then you hint that if you take some starches like potato and then cool them, they become resistant. That is false. You still get a glucose spike. The whole presentation is worthless. Next time do more research and find answers to the right questions. Where can you get resistant starch? How do you prepare it for consumption? What is recipe? If someone takes what you call prepared resistant starch and you measure glucose after eating it, did you measure a glucose spike? Otherwise this presentation is false advertising!

      It is not false. There's very solid research out there. Do your homework and benefit, instead of just complaining and writing it off.
