Wow, I'm not sure I've ever seen a video game cutscene take itself so seriously and deliver so adeptly. The graphics are stunning, the dialogue is reminiscent of old Chinese dramas, and its thoughtful cinematography is refreshing for an art form that tends to default to static close-ups, loud action sequences, and constant dialogue prompts. This development team is clearly inspired and I'm very interested to see what other surprises await us.
If I'm not mistaken, these are the spider demons from the novel, but here they are shown in a very sympathetic light and I'm looking forward to seeing what the twist is. Seems like Wukong is disguising himself to marry the eldest spider. Is it a ruse or something else?
in the original novel there are seven spider monsters (the old one might be one of them) and they were defeat and caught by a goddess invited by wukong(the real one). in this game it's seems there is one spider managed to escape and now she asked her dauthers kidnapping someone for her “wedding" (player, maybe the new wukong?) ps: female spiders will eat the male after they intercoursed.

Well, I’m only guess the author chose the Tang Dynasty for it was “Golden Age of China”, and it was around that time the real Xuanzang (which Wukong’s master based off) traveled to India retrieve the Buddhist scriptures.

Feel kinda like Professor Snape in Harry Potter, a tragic figure trapped in the web of love, and yes irony intended.
Pilgrimage to the West is the best-known fantasy novel in China. The 'BLACK MYTH WUKONG' storyline isn't expected to exactly mirror the plot of the old fable. The game sounds great. It's so sad and beautiful.❤

there are two trailer this year， one is here， the other one they choose to release on NVIDIA’s official account( in Chinese social media it is....I don’t know where would they bring it out in YTB) this one revealed human-like (surely we know they are not real human) female character for the first time, the other one is a gameplay showing the detail of collecting, save&loading, and of course the progress of fighting system.

Everything implies that the groom met her a long time, and defeated her. That last scene with the white hair spider was most likely a scene of the past when the groom first met and fought the mom.

nah. It should capture the essence of the conversation, Chinese becomes too complicated when translated word for word. It becomes too poetic for casual speach and sounds pretty awkward. For this year the date was August 4th. Women would traditionally wear the qi pao, the Chinese dress, among other traditions. A lot of Asian cultures also have a version of this festival. In Korea it's called Chilseok festival. In Japan it's called Tanabata, which is a festival that shows up in mostly romance or romcom anime. If you've seen Tonikawa: Over the Moon for You, the whole story revolves around this legend.
The Chinese Pantheon is pretty damn interesting on par with Japanese/Indian Pantheon. If we get Wukong as the main character, Erlang Shen should be one of the main boss.
