We take a look at how the Forerunner managed to defeat their creators, the Precursor, during the Forerunner-Precursor War -- leading to events which would see the flood unleashed upon the galaxy.

If there are pure and not so a angry precursors left, I wonder what would they think of their hate filled and parasitic cousins (the flood).
Imagine a benevolent precursor beating the absolute shit out of a gravemind.
That really depends. It's entirely possible that the Precursors had a sense of morality far different from humanity. Perhaps the Flood would look like a necessary measure to unify the disparate species of the galaxy.
Or, as one theory goes, the Flood could be considered a test of sorts; if humanity can defeat the Flood in a full war without resorting to galactic genocide like the Forerunners, then humans will be ready for the Mantle.

The Precursor interpretation of 'Living Time' was that the universe itself was a living entitity, with sentient life as its sensory organ. As such, it was their duty to experience all that existence could offer, striving for a sense of 'sweetness' (this 'sweetness' has no known sensational equivalent amongst sentients so far save for perhaps the Graveminds so it is dificult to describe, but any experience added to it, not just morally 'good' ones or ones that made a Precursor happy; pain and suffering qualified just as well).
In this vein Precursors would take many different forms and live through life at various levels of evolutionary and technological stages, sometimes being as advanced as the Forerunners while at other times being barely jellyfish. Seeing as they were metaphysical in consciousness and had a back up memory in the form of the domain, they could easily though this. All this to enchance the 'sweetness' that the universe experienced by providing it with an as diverse as possible barrage of experiences.
Its my personal headcanon that Precursors liked humanity better than Forerunners precisely because humans were volatile, diverse and prone to being in constant flux: they provided a plethora of 'sweetness' for the universe, whereas the Forerunners proved their unworthyness by being docile and stagnant (Halo Warfleet describes them being created as 'adjutants and companions' for the Precursors).
So circling back to the original question of 'how would a pure precursor view the Flood', I think it would not neccesarily view them poorly: the Flood, through all the minds crushed in its folds as well as the experiences of all those who fight it surely provide plenty of 'sweetness' for the universe.

Jedi Spartan 38 sometimes I feel that way. I mean, sometimes I feel that individuality and mortality is beyond me. I get that way in the happiest moments in my life where I only think of the present and those around me and when accidents happen where I get hurt, I forget I’m bleeding or don’t notice it until someone reminds me. I even fought a dog once in a moment like that when it got loose. I was surprisingly calm when I snapped it’s neck. I got bite quite a few times. But its like the pain stopped before reaching my brain or something.
I call those moments now my Precursor moments.
As for the lack of individuality, it’s a very nice feeling too though rare. Happens when I’m with my parents and they need help with something, I help them without any regard to myself. Of course they return the favor but not because I ask them to, they just do it out of gratitude. So yea. Those moments are fun too.

I can sum it up using Star Wars.
Precursor: "Strike me down and I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine."
Forerunner: "Then let me show you the true nature of the force."
If anything it's the precursors that would know the true nature of the force
You should make a video explaining the Precursors in general. Thier abilities and feats are mindboggling. They are absolutely one of the most OP factions in fiction

They should all be reduced immortal ordinary men and transported to Skyrim, where they can live asininely in a Land of jerks like the jerks they are.
The Precursors are 4 Dimensional Species that achieved Tier 1 and flourished beyond the confines of a singular Galaxy. After the trauma of being defeated by The Treacherous Forerunners, The Precursors decided to do two things:
1. Go into Stasis/Suspended animation kinda like Cryostasis.
2. Ground up their 3 Dimensional bodies/Avatars.
Note: They are 4 Dimensional beings unlike us 3 Dimensional ones. If you destroy a 3 Dimensional being’s 3 Dimensional body, you’ve effectively killed that being but it doesn’t work the same way for a 4 Dimensional being. Thus the precursors aren’t dead simply because the Forerunners destroyed their 3 Dimensional bodies.
The part of the universe we can interact with as 3 Dimensional beings is composed of only those 3 Dimensions. So you can’t truly “kill” a Precursor. Unless you find a way to eliminate that final dimension. (This of course is excluding the soul cause that’s a separate topic)
Main point: The 3 Dimensional dust created by grounding up Precursor bodies OR more accurately their AVATARS, is the dust they use to reincarnate themselves. It’s essentially Reincarnation Remains/dust.
Conclusion: A Precursor decided to corrupt the dust of it’s brethren. It took the dust and corrupted it into a Bioweapon that is activated by coming into contact with “life” aka Biomass. The Precursor did so because it wanted revenge against the Forerunners for “biting the hand that fed” them. The flood are NOT Precursor. They are a bioweapon abomination that is the Anti-thesis of life created by corrupting/weaponizing the remains/Dust of a Precursor’s 3 Dimensional Avatar.
Example: You take the ashes of a cremated human and corrupt it to make a bioweapon that used life itself against its targets. It doesn’t make the bioweapon a Human Being, that’s faulty logic.
Reminder: To be a Human Being, you have to be made from the union of a Human being’s Egg and another Human Being’s Sperm. That’s a basic scientific fact.

that's describing literally everything in every fiction, and in all of history lmfao.
Easiest way is that: Since precursors have the living time concept on their side they basicly ascended and can "become one with the force" and thus return. For most of them its like a game: You start a round and the easy ai suddendly buggs out and beats you. One the one side you laugh and just watch the firework knowning that you can't really lose and even win if you want and put effort in it, but since its just a game and you above all that you just keep watching. On the other hand it hurts your ego a bit. So you start a new round with new settings and as new faction/race. Midway you encouter a bug in your faction but "all of it just works" so its "not a bug but a feature" and you keep playing... this time with the goal to show the ai who is the boss here because it turns out your ego got more hurt than you want to admit.

Was the dust really defective? The Primordial was the first Gravemind, yet did not make themselves dust. I think the precursors decided upon this after a while.
I believe that the precursors were so enlightened that they were above violence. The very stuff had become foreign to them. We know they seeded and nurtured species. They were completely taken aback at the violence of one of their pioneer species.
…Then they created the flood!
Honestly a big point of halo if you can’t tell when somebody was lying and when somebody was telling the truth back then. Each interpretation had large basis of truth but some more self-serving and others were based on the restricted experiences and internal bias of the teller.
Is it that they wouldn’t defend themselves or they couldn’t? Should they have let violence go unrebuked? If they created the flood where they truly above destroying their creations to start anew?

The Precursors consistently committed genocide whenever they decided a species wasn't growing up right. In fact, that was their plan with the Forerunners after they determined that the Ancient Humans were destined to take the mantle. The Forerunners found out and pre-emptively struck to prevent themselves from being wiped out.

I find it hard to believe that the forerunners would try to war against space gods if it wasn’t something really bad, The precursors tried to allude away from this conclusion tactfully. At the same time it was precisely the forerunners hubris that was demonstrated time and time again in the amoral decisions including debasing an entire species, The forerunners were definitely not worthy of the mantle even if humanity was waging a desperate war, to outright genetically alter an entire species goes a bit too far as well as stripping them of any hope of achieving the wealth and commodity they had before. In the books there are actually precursors that are dedicated to joy that are completely foreign to the flood in pathology and form. The librarian’s Geas lead her to save the last one or two precursors to start a new on another planet and the books alluded to the fact that they were very wide in interests and in form. The flood was actually a corrupted precursor and it was alluded to that even after the primordial merged with the flood in mind the flood still didn’t have access to all of its knowledge.
With the future of the Halo Universe uncertain, I wonder what would happen to the Galaxy should anyone discover those Anti-Precursor Forerunner fleets that are probably floating on the fringe of the Galaxy

Jonathan Swavely Thats really tough. Forerunners have the edge in technology. But IOM has the numbers and sheer size and scale. IMO probably even have more men than the Forerunner has bullets (or whatever they shot out from their guns). If I have to put a bet on it. I would say IOM takes it 6/10 times

Remember those forerunners were desendants of the warrior caste that exiled themselves, they only followed orders and were told by their superiors that the precursors were planning on wiping them, only the high ranking/leaders of the forerunners at the time would have know if that were true.
Therefor judging by the conflicting stories, and info from the primordial, gravemind ect, It appears the forerunners did indeed instigate the war, explaining why the precursors became bitter, it makes no sense for them to seek revenge if it was their fault, makes them seem petty and their whole moral philosophy pointless.
One can asume the forerunners may have decided on a pre-emptive strike incase they were possibly going to be wiped out since the precursors have done so before to "failed spieces".
We can speculate that the forerunners reacted rashly to the news, fearing being wiped out or being superseded by humanity they choose to attack to protect there own interests, only proving how unworthy they are by doing so, the precursors allowed themselves to be defeated and marvelled in the violence.
After being brought to near extinction, they hid, and with the passage of time they created, cultivated and minipulated the flood to pass judgement upon the forerunners and to in turn test humanities worthiness for the mantle.
As long as humanity doesnt mass genocide the galaxy to save themselves unlike the forerunners, I think we should pass.

Id love to know how the first order even got the funds to build such a base when the empire was barley able to crank out the 1st and 2nd death star. Let alone how no one new about it. The Emperor has some mind blowing feats but still...even with that, I think the Imperium is gonna get buried by the sheer manufacturing capabilities of the Forerunners.
I've been wondering now for awhile if the Halo Array's main weapon is based upon, or even an up-scaled retrofit of the weapon(s) the ancient forerunner fleet used in their war of extermination against the Precursors. The upper levels of forerunner government had knowledge of what happened in their ancient history so i can't imagine they didn't have access to tech from that time.

also I used to think that the Flood may have been something the Precursors intended to use as a final test for their Heirs to prove themselves against, of course that was before I read the Forerunner trilogy

What if some of the precursors escaped the milky way and became flood and have already consumed multiple galaxies waiting for the flood in the milky way to be killed and then strike or maybe unite these conquered galaxies into one giant flood being
There are Precursors outside the Milky Way that survived, this is a fact. The Flood IS the Precursors, or what is left of the ones that got wiped out as dust that combined, along with the mind of the last surviving Precursor in the Milky Way, known as the Primordial. Two Precursors survived the genocide of the Forerunners, and took refuge in a dwarf galaxy called Path Kethona. Some Forerunners that didn't agree with the genocide found them and tried to hide them and save them. The Forerunners didn't have the ability to heal them, and despite the fact that the Precursors could have healed themselves, they decided to let nature take it's course after hearing what happened to their species.
The flood are what is left of the Precursors that relished in killing, destruction and violence. The ones that relished creation, peace, and healing no longer exist as the last two in existence died off on Path Kethona.

I firmly believe that the Precursors attempted to wipe out the forerunners and the forerunners fought back. The Forerunner being so violent and warlike as a species cut through the procurers with bloody swath never before seen. The sheer shock and awe used by the forerunners left the precursors unable to(not unwilling) to fight back. I think the pure rage and violent predisposition of the forerunners allowed them to decimate the more advanced species.
