I think that steep single track where expletive was used, my partner(at the time) & I cycled that Rd in the eighties. You were right to describe the places as idyllic. I went back recently in my Campervan & it scared me driving in a van. I couldn’t believe we had cycled it all those years ago, & not felt unsafe. The arrogance of youth lol.
Nice video! Brings back many happy memories of our trip! We like the camper van too. We did our trip with a rooftop tent on a Landrover, which made it hard to stealth camp, and those west coast winds are strong!
Great video we are going to Scotland June but think we we will do the 300 rote never been to Scotland before we hired a motorhome so hear we go ,,,,got to say you have a beautiful voice and very clear to listen to on your cometary ,thank for the ride take care keep safe,John 🌹🥂👀🌈
Great couple of Scotland vlogs, we both really enjoyed watching your adventures. Maybe see you on the road as we're not too far from you and we visit Essex regularly. Take care peeps , keep up the good work! Tony & Claire.
Really nice couple, looks like they made a massive effort to highlight the NC500 (so well done to them), not a fan of the music but that's small change really. Nice Video.
Great video we plan on doing this at some point and the info will be helpful, would you mind me asking what you are using for your music ? Really like it and I’m thinking of using epidemic sounds but not sure it’s worth it thanks
You absolutely made the right decision not to visit Inverness. We made a short stop there in the beginning of September and became very uncomfortable about how lapse the attitude to covid was especially around the fast food places. We just made a comfort stop and left. Loved touring the 500 and will be back as the weather was not on our side on this visit. It was a lot quieter when we drove along it.
Hi guys. Lovely video really enjoyed it. Laughed me cod's of when you came down that hill. Nice drive Ben😜. Definitely on my list of trips to do. Thanks for sharing, brilliant 👍. Working my way through rest of videos ☺️. Big thumbs up from me. ATB Dave 😊👍 aka wackyswanderings also Essex 😊😊👍
Hiya Dave, thanks for watching we're glad you enjoyed video! Yeah that hill was scary but it was pretty hilarious when we watched the footage back 😆 Oh cool, a fellow Essex van lifer, may see you around! All the best.
@@Thecampervanlife no van🥴 Landover and Harley 😁 usually hiking. That's where I found you guys when watching your WHW video, loved it. Now watching your van build 👍, may see you out their someday as do attend van life meet ups in my Landy. Anyhoo ATB you be good, you be safe, and you keep smiling 😁👍 Dave aka wackyswanderings 👍
absolutely breathtaking! great job with the video, and your dog is adorable. i detect saluki? i'm definitely taking this trip as soon as possible! i'm in love with Scotland ...i was there september of 2019 and can't wait to go back! thank you for making this! i'm looking forward to the sequel.
Hi Janet, thank you so much, we are so happy you enjoyed the video! Our dog is a collie x lurcher and she absolutely loved Scotland as much as we did 😃 you can see the 2nd part of this trip now, our Skye video is up on our channel 👍 thanks for watching!
Bit late , but great Vidio guys, did you plan your days or just stop when you fancied. Also how did you get info on places to visit off the nc500. Cheers penguin peter 🐧🐧
Thankyou! We had a loose plan, just a general idea of where we wanted to end up each day but we just stopped as and when we fancied along the route, apart from Sandwood Bay, we planned that day. We watched all of the NC500 videos TH-cam had to offer 😂 we also used a guidebook which was helpful, there's a link to the one we used in the video description 👍
@@Thecampervanlife yer sounds like my style, that’s what 4 wheels are about on the moment. Thanks for the tip, will have alook at the guide book Penguin Peter 🐧🐧
We have our own facilities on board the campervan so wasn't a concern for us. There are some public toilets around in the more built up areas but these can be few and far between.
Nice van, nice video.....but I'm wondering how nobody else has commented asking how you managed to travel from Essex to the top of Scotland when it's meant to be Stay at Home / Essential Travel only?? I live in the central belt of Scotland and I'm not allowed to travel the 3hrs to Inverness, unless for my work as I am a key-worker. Been hearing some folk have been getting stopped at the border and told to turn round and return home? I plan to do the NC500 but only when travel ban has been lifted. Cheers
Hiya, there is the scenic B869 which takes you around Clashnessie & Stoer, lots of narrow winding & steep parts but amazing! And then the famous Applecross Pass with hairpin turns!
Hiya, we stayed in a camp site the first night only and we booked that on the same day. Other than that we 'wild' camped using an app called park4night, which is great for free park ups 👍
@@Thecampervanlife you are obviously unaware that to park on land at the side of the road without permission is a criminal offence under the trespass scotland act 1865, you have NO rights under the land reform act as you are ocupying a vehicle.Just because it has been put on an "app" by some irresponsible idiot doesn't give you any right to park It is extremely irresponsible to ill-inform the public in this way, you brought next to no benefit to the region and this sort of behaviour is what is really pi@@ing off the local communities
I enjoyed your video, thank you. Can you tell me: Where is the scenic area and treacherous road you encountered between Sandwood Beach and Lochinver? (approx 13:30 on the video) Now I will watch your Skye video.
Thank you so much for watching, we're glad you enjoyed the video. Of course, that was the incredibly scenic B869 which takes you around Clashnessie, Stoer & Achmelvich. Like you say, treacherous but an absolutely breathtaking drive 👍
You should do, Isle of Lewis/Harris then Isle of Skye. Google the beaches of Harris, the most famous being Luskentyre beach 😍, get ferry from Ullapool to Stornoway, even the ferry ride on the outdoor deck is an amazing experience, try Stornoway black pudding 👌, explore the beaches of Lewis, then head south to Harris, trust me if you think parts of the NC500 resembles the Caribbean, wait to you see the beaches of Harris such as Luskentyre, Seliebost, Scarista, Horgabost, and many more
Thanks for your comment. We will definitely add your recommendations to the list! We will be going back someday as there are still tons of places we want to see. The beaches on Harris looks absolutely stunning 😍
Fantastic video, I'm off tomorrow, downloaded the app you suggested. I just have a question, you mentioned refilling water, did you visit a campsite for this or somewhere else? That's my only worry to be honest! A lot of campsites are closed now so wondering if a petrol station or garage place would be wise.
Yeah we stayed at a campsite in order to use their facilities and fill up our water. I'm sure there will be places along the way to fill up too though, park4night is good at scoping out park ups with services. Take some bottled water too, just in case! We hope you have a brilliant trip! 👍
Hi, I loved this video. Me and my partner are planning to do this hopefully august time. Would you mind commenting the route you took? Thanks for the entertainment! 👍🏼
Hiya, glad you enjoyed the video. We started in Inverness and worked our way around anti-clockwise, so up to John O'Groats first along the North coast and then down the West Coast. There's a link in the video description to the guide book we used which was very useful along the way. It really is a great road trip!
