Just finished this job and your video made it so much easier. I bought one of this telescope magnets (very little one) and took the magnet out and it fit inside the 10mm socket and held the bolts perfectly for removing and installing on the pulley. Highly recommended if anyone is about to do this job. Was a perfect use of 3 bucks.
Thanks you! Great video, I only needed the thermostat part, but the pump part was very well explained, , was able to see exatly were the parts were located.
Thanks for a great video that reminds me why I'm never getting rid of my 92 Toyota shortbed pickup. That eco water pump job would drive anybody that doesn't have a lift absolutely crazy. My neighbor has a very clean fairly well optioned 2004 but the water pump needs replacement....I was thinking about buying his car so that I would have some emergency backup in case my Toy went down. This job, on such a routine replacement is way over the edge so I'm going to pass on buying his car...but good luck to anybody that has to go thru this nightmare. Better have a fifth of Jack Daniels standing by lol.

There's another 2.2 liter 4 cylinder engine Chevy uses for this same year.Look at the eight number on the Vin one has a F or the number 4.The other motor has spark plug wires on it.This ecotec has a black plate on top of the head with the spark plug boots built into it.The other engine is a little aggravating to remove the water pump, just not as bad as this one.
Chevrolet makes this water pump so aggravating so you won't want to replace it yourself. That's just as aggravating as their earlier 4.6 liter dohc north star water pump that is a pump that has to be cogged into a hollow chamber that is part of the engine block, ridiculous idea????
I'm thankful for this video it made my job easier, I'm not a mechanic but I have learned a lot from my dad and friends, and for sure from TH-cam. I just replaced the water pump in a buick verano 2015, 2,4cc, they use the same water pump, but the new water pump make a noise like a turbine (actually like turbo engines)... Any idea? I was thinking that maybe I tight the bolts too much or something like that
I removed the bolts inside the water pump before placing the blue tool. Now that I’m trying to put the bolts back in it doesn’t tight up . Do you think is because the timing chain fell off ?
We have to do this job on one with a turbo. I'm hoping we don't have to pull the turbo out. Also doing the whole timing chain job so fortunately the sprocket part will be easy. I think the impeller came loose. Engine runs fine but zero coolant circulation.
@@RustBeltAuto haven't touched it yet. Was running fine then suddenly overheated. Radiator cold, heater core cold, no coolant leaks. Engine runs perfect, just overheats due to no circulation. Much of the development work on this project was carried out by Lotus Engineering, Hethel, United Kingdom. Copied that off of Wikipedia. It's youropeean.
GM incorporated that motor into all there car brands. Just as guilty as the designers. No surprise why Toyota snd other makes have been so successful. Just incorporate a simple external mounted water pump and boom - done deal.

Used one of the magnet sticks to start each bolt inside motor and didn’t drop any for anyone watching in the future 🎉
