those records were usually done on small streams with a known community of GeoGuessr players who are at least somewhat reliable. plus most of the rounds there isn't anything to Google, and the skill of some players is immense and I don't think they would dirt their image by cheating
There is a solo category, and as Alok said, most chat assistents are known in the community, they are reliable.
It's also mostly streamers who try these records, and chat likes to matter and to get involved.
I understand, but "usually", "at least somewhat reliable" and "I don't think they would" aren't phrases you wanna use when talking about "official" actual records of people testing their own skills to compete with others. It should at least definitely be in a different category.

The horrendous building in Dudley he was probably thinking about was Cavendish House and it was finally knocked down earlier this year (doesn't mean it wouldn't be on Street View through)
@The505Guys Especially as they often replaced traditional architecture in many centuries-old grand buildings which actually had character. One of the bad things to come out of the 60s/70s unfortunately.
U.V.F stands for Ulster Volunteer Force - A paramilitary organisation, also if you see electrified railways its definitely not Northern Ireland, there are no electrified lines

The original UVF were the 36th Ulster division of the British Army who served in France In WW1 and were volunteers who were asked to join by Edward Carson. They were also known as Carson volunteers (YCV)
The U in U.V.F and the church instantly made me think that it was Northern Ireland.

A straight forward way of determining whether you are in England or Scotland is looking at windows on the buildings. Typically, English buildings have windows aligned with the external finish whereas Scotland set windows back 100mm for additional protection from the elements.
Interesting!
Add to that, there's a regulation in Scotland that all windows on new builds 4m+ above ground level have to be able to be cleaned from the inside. As a result they tend to be able to fully swivel. so by looking at the upstairs windows you on what look like new houses you can rule Scotland out a lot of the time!

Round 25 - I saw UVF, immediately thought "Ulster Volunteer Force" (it's a paramilitary group from the time of the Troubles), and was preparing myself for heartbreak. So glad you got it right!

Me, a railway nerd: there isn't any electrified railway in Northern Ireland.
BTW, the South Wales Main Line's electrification to Cardiff only completed in 2020, and I don't think street view has updated yet. So by the electric railway along, you can easily rule out Wales and Northern Ireland.

@@jacobhowson9596 I don't know about NI but for Wales our railways are still under Westminster control (our trains are controlled by Cardiff, our railway tracks by Westminster), and Westminster don't tend to bother spending money in Wales
So much of the UK is just naturally beautiful. I ended up emigrating for work but watching this reminds me where home really is. Some phenomenal knowledge here too 👏🏻

Great video as always Tom. Couple of little things to help just incase you weren't aware, England tends to have brick walls that serperate the farms, at least in the North, Scotland does not. so that's a big giveaway.
And Aberdeen has Blue Street signs. I was screaming Aberdeen at the TV. But well Done on the streak!

Dude you're the perfect man for the Storror manhunt. They put a bounty on finding them travelling the UK, check their instagram and youtube. You fould film your hunt.
The Walkden location had a telephone number on one of the buildings. The code was 0161, which you had on a previous round (the "brute" building). Had you spotted the number, I'm sure you would've remembered it was Manchester's area code.

Great video man! If it helps, remember to look at the crops when in rural areas: the staple produce in South England(wheat, beats, ect...) is different to Scotland(seed rape, potatoes and wheat in winter) and NI due to the climate.

A parkour group called „Storror“ is giving out 10.000£ if you find them in the next 10 days in the uk. They will post hints on youtube and instagram. First thing came to my mind was Geowizzard has a good chance of finding them with the help of their hints. They will be outdoors for the entire period.

That Northern Ireland guess was a good one. UVF was a massive clue but it's hard to blame you for not knowing what it stood for initially. The U is for Ulster though so good shout there and Holmes, yeah Eamonn Holmes was a good call too.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, you need to start learning some landline area codes for the UK! You can see numbers on vans and shops in most rounds, so so many rounds could be made much shorter, and it could make country streak a doddle
If you've used anki before, I feel like that would be the perfect way to learn them, too

It's true that the British Government did plant Scottish settlers in Northern Ireland but the reason for similar placenames is because of the shared Gaelic language brought by Gaels who migrated from Ireland to Scotland from around 500/600 AD

Clues for spotting house scheme locations are mostly the further south you go in the uk the window frames are more likely to be flush with the external brick while in Scotland windows are set further back into the external wall, it’s a weather thing to protect the windows from the elements. Like this so he can see this for future reference.
Also houses in Scotland are more prominent in rough casting rather than the red brick you see more down south in England
The west of Scotland uses a lot of red sandstone on buildings while the east of Scotland it’s mostly yellow sandstone
Aberdeen is granite, that’s why it’s known as the granite city.
