@@Instanenceeasy... You're dealing with an original six hockey club. There's no need for the vitriol.
you don't know what this guy has done for the locker room. I've coached, there are very special people who know exactly what to say to get people to produce beyond their wildest dreams-for some reason, he has that magic.
We're listening to the players accolades, they're the ones telling us what he meant to them and their careers. So you're disrespecting the players. Professional hockey players who might know a thing or two that we don't.
Some of us knew because the Bruins were winning without bergeron... He was out the first four games of playoffs, Bruins took three out of those four games. When he returned? The Bruins went down two out of three games
That's interesting. And I'm betting that helped him make his decision.
But it doesn't make him "overrated."
Sports is about using good judgment. Especially hockey
We're looking at phenomenal statistics over a 19 year period
Many of us are going to feel the same way when Alex ovechkin hangs up his skates.
we're hockey fans-when these guys retire it means we are old!
I'd say he earned those selkie awards - look up with that award means, what it quantifies before you trash that also
what he does, doesn't show up on the stats like mcjesus or Matthews.
We're talking about a rare special two-way player.
Stop pissing on people's parades - you're making the ice yellow...
And I doubt you would have the guts to say any of this to any of the players faces so, go back to your cave.

Looking back with 2020 vision in my rearview mirror, Brad already knew last week.
a reporter posted a photo on Twitter -marchand at practice last week
on his opposite shoulder away from the camera, we could clearly see there was a letter, and it was not an "A", but the edges of the letter "C"
It could have been photoshopped, but it was pretty clear and posted by a legitimate reporter
Apparently he officially announced July 19th. don't understand how I missed it - because of that photo, I'd been watching for his announcement and it didn't come through until 4-5 days later. (I'm in another time zone)
But we've got to look at reality here- Bergeron was out the first four games of the playoffs. Bruins won three out of those four games.
When bergeron came back? We lost two out of the three last games.
The team went into panic mode. They lost control of that system & process.
I also noticed that Monty wasn't allowing them to fight back-because Ullmark had been taking quite a few cheap shots by the time he responded.
No way in hell would Matthew Tckahuck even try to put Freddy in a chokehold with the likes of Chara, Nick Ritchie or Milan lucic on ice or the bench.
As a matter-of-fact Lucic is going to show Freddy how to do a reversal the next time he's in a chokehold with his back on the ice. 😃
I just have a feeling that if we kept an enforcer around, bergeron's health might've been able to squeeze out a 20th season.
I don't like the cheap shots he's been taking. I don't remember seeing that with Chara or Nick Ritchie around? And we have scorers in the sin-bin, our lil ratt trying to play enforcer?
Just having Milan Lucic on the benches going to change the psychology of the game for so many players. He'll end their careers for them!
      Yet the reality is:
Bergeron came back for the last three games, and the Bruins lost 2 outta 3.
It's a tough pill to swallow and when it comes to heroes.
That's a reality none of us want to see.

@@johnbrowne2170yeah I think they needed to finally announce something because marchand was seen at practice with the "C"on the edge his uniform last week, photo showed up on Twitter, a Boston reporter.
I didn't think it was photoshopped
We couldn't see it because the letter was on the opposite side of the angle, yet it was clear that, whatever letter was on the opposite Jersey shoulder, was a "C" not an "A"
Was hoping bergie would make it the 20th only because that meant his body, father and baby were all okay.
As far as the Bruins? Well, his legacy is definitely still there-when he was out the first four games of the playoffs, Bruins took three out of four of those games
When he came back, Bruins went down 2 out of the last 3 games.
Ultimately, that could be what bergie's looking at. For some reason, when he was on ice those last three games, we didn't produce.
Did players let their guard down when he came back?
You think he'll join the Bruins organization?
Or do you think the Quebec nordiques will be back!

Can't be replaced. Captain, my captain.

    • @TheFoolintherainn
      @TheFoolintherainn 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Well ... No he can't be replaced. But I was wondering how his decision was going to go because he was out the first four games of playoffs. Bruins won three out of four of those games. When he came back? We really struggled-we lost two out of three games
And I'm betting he looked at that, probably studied those highlights.
But Boston has the best rehabs trainers and sports medicine unsurpassed in the world-I was hoping they could put Humpty Dumpty back together again lol!
All kidding aside, I was really hoping he'd come back because that would signal three things-his health, father and baby were all okay.
Apparently played that 82nd game in Montreal where he got hurt, because that would probably be the last time his father saw him play in Montreal, his father's been ill.
Alot of Bruins fans were pissed that he played that last game and wondered why in the hell he would right before playoffs? Because of his dad.
It seems to me his health has given in-and that makes me a bit sad but... His legacy is definitely there.
I'm wondering when he returned for the last three games of playoffs, if somehow the rest of the team took their foot off the gas pedal cuz he was back?
Or did his injuries slow down our game?
I put up a short footage last season of Charlie McAvoy coming up behind him pushing him with his stick in the rear end to help him speed up the ice!
I don't think the playoffs loss was one player or another, but it's interesting... His plus-minus rating took a dive the last three games of his career.
the team seemed to go into a panic. Lost their system when he came back
But I don't like the cheap shots he's been taking the last two years since Chara and Nik Richie left, we haven't replaced that enforcer.
No way in hell will Matthew Tkachuck try to put Freddy in a chokehold with Milan lucic around!
Might have been interesting if we had an enforcer on ice last season, I wonder whether bergie would have taken some of those cheap shots
But Don Sweeney's bringing back the 1972 big bad Bruins...
They set their franchise-record most winning regular season in 1970- 71 with a new coach and did not get the cup.
So they came back humiliated and the big bad Bruins got that cup in 72!
He's beefing up-no more injuring our scorers and having our little ratt sit in the sin-bin, trying to play enforcer.
I'm betting bergie is aware of the last three games and why they didn't go well
It would have been nice for him to and on a higher note but he knows his body best.
I'd rather not see him go out like Chara or Thomas.
I'm asking folks- you think we'll see the Quebec Nordiques return under him?
Or do you think he'll find a place in the Bruins organization?
That would be funny if the next nordiques team was an affiliation team of the Boston Bruins!

My only disappointment is that we did not get to meet the Bruins in the Cup finals before his retirement. ❤❤❤

You can feel the love, and the respect they have for him. I wish him all the best in his retirement, he gave everything he had, and then some, now it’s time for him to enjoy his new life, as a Habs’ fan,I couldn’t be happier to see him retire after years of owning us, as a fan of game; I will miss him.

Such a great person and example for all hockey players worldwide and his bringing up the class of the game meant a lot to people. Hall of famer for his character on the inside too. He says he got it from his Mom 🙏. He will leave a void and be missed as a mentor big time. Will miss watching him win face-offs and back-check all the way and pick up all the pucks after.

Wishing u nothing but the absolute best in retirement Bergy! When I was younger my favourite team was the Penguins so watching you and the B’s play them was truly a special treat for me. I’ll forever miss and cherish those days. My dads always been the biggest fan of u guys so this team, especially u, have been really close to me. Was hoping to see you and the rest of the B’s face my Bolts in the playoffs but obviously stuff didn’t go the way people were hoping. Thats ok tho bc you and everyone else gave it your all until the very end! Wishing u the very best in the next chapter of your life! Thank u so much for everything Bergy! (:

Bruins fans, this is your moment, and your guy. But I just wanted to say that as a Leafs fan, and team Sweden fan, I have no reason to like Bergeron. He's been the cause of many ruined nights for me. But I always did like him. It was impossible not to. I was never sad to see him at the handshake line, whether he was wearing black and red, or black and yellow.
How lucky you guys have been to have had this guy at the helm for so many years.

I remember a certain spring night in 2013; after a certain overtime goal, the bartender at the Charlottetown watering hole I attended said, "you hit a note that would have made Mariah Carey proud." Bergeron, IMO, was the 3rd best centre man in B's history, behind Phil Esposito and Milt Scmidt. As a person of class, he ranks up there with Jean Beliveau, Bobby Orr and Jean Ratelle.

    • @munkustrap2
      @munkustrap2 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Jean Ratelle was such a gentleman on the ice. He didn't really fit the Don Cherry mold but he was a joy to watch. I'm so glad I had the chance to watch him play.

This was announced on July 19th apparently-I didn't see it until today, and I had been watching.
Because a reporter posted a photo of Brad marchand at practice last week. On the opposite shoulder of his jersey, there was a letter-and it was not the letter "A", it's strongly appeared to be the letter "C". We could see the edge of the letter
I don't think it was a joke nor photoshopped, so I was waiting and watching and nothing popped up until today on my feeds
Apparently he announced his retirement July 19th, day after his 38th birthday, so it appears it leaked out and he had to say something.
Or he was just waiting for his birthday as his own deadline
but it was pretty clear last week, "C" was on a #63 jersey
