As a diehard leaf fan I can say the man broke my heart many times. But the game will not be the same with him leaving. Bergeron and merchant are two of the best ambassadors the game has had. I’m honoured to have been lucky enough to see him play and will always remember his greatness
From a Rangers fan since 1979,he was always nothing but class, integrity, guts and a privilege to watch. While I have to detest the logo, I can respect the man. And I absolutely respect this man. Best of luck in the future. I hope they retire his number.
From a lifelong Pens fan. Bergy and Lidstroms style of play is how I modeled my life in sports and out of it. Scrapy competitive and defense over offense. Honestly I may hate ya Bs fans and your team but I got to be honest. Y'all know hockey and Bergy was so special to the game just like Ovi and Sid. He'll be missed and thank you Boston and Bergy for so many awesome matchups. Hell of a career Merci beaucoup Patrice.
Although I am a Habs fan living in Montreal, I am first and foremost, a hockey fan and Patrice was the epitamy of the role model any aspiring young hockey player should emulate. I will miss seeing him play and I hope his after career is as amazing as his career was. Good luck and make most of your retirement as you made most of the talent you possessed.
Same thing back at Carey Price... We original sixers stick together also. Too many franchises that don't actually have ice, hockey players far too tan, taking our Stanley cup to beaches!
I miss you Bergeron. You did so much that a lot of players never have and never will. You won a Stanley Cup, you were the captain of the best hockey team in the world EVER, 6 Selke trophies and I can go on. I Already miss you. Good luck. Go B’s. Don’t poke the bear
While a majority of us knew this was coming (the hug with Marchand and the salute with tears in his eyes after game 7 convinced me he was finished) as Bruins fans, we are blessed to have witnessed 19 years of a master at his craft. Merci Patrice.
Thank you Patrice Bergeron for all the amazing years. Truly an outstanding hockey player, a class act captain and a WARRIOR! The guy played several times while being injured, even with an herniated disc on his last playoffs. He did all this 'cause he hated to let his team down. True heart of gold. He'll always be my favorite player! I'll even say he was the Jean Béliveau of the 21st century. Patrice Bergeron, a pride from Quebec City 💪
As a habs fan, I have nothing but respect for Bergeron. A real class act and such a talented player. I always wished he played for the habs. You guys had a really good one
From Vegas - Bergy is one of those people who is special no matter what team you're rooting for. I love hearing the heartfelt messages from his teammates, but he needs to know that many of us are wishing fond wishes and a happy retirement. My only disappointment is that we did not get to meet the Bruins in the Cup finals before his retirement. ❤❤❤
You can feel the love, and the respect they have for him. I wish him all the best in his retirement, he gave everything he had, and then some, now it’s time for him to enjoy his new life, as a Habs’ fan,I couldn’t be happier to see him retire after years of owning us, as a fan of game; I will miss him.
Congratulations on a great career. Although I was always rooting for my Panthers, you were easily one of the most admired, respected, and skilled players in the league. A true gentleman in all things. I wish you future success and health in the years to come.
I may not be a Boston bruins fan and all (Pittsburgh penguins fan) but Patrice had an impact on the ice for his teammates, and the fans, and his rivals. Good luck on retirement for the greatest two way player in nhl history! Respect
Leafs fan here. As much as I hate the Bruins and how much pain Bergy has caused me by being a dominant force on those B's teams, he's still an absolute legend and a class act. Enjoy retirement
pens fan here but ive always respected the bruins and that video brought a tear to my eye that was def a close family bergeron had in the lockeroom what a legend
This is a day I never wanted to experience. Bergy has been the best end-to-end, a spokesman for the sport, his dedication to family, friends, and even many other players on other teams.
As a fairly new hockey fan (Knights fan) I’m glad I got to see the magical player that is Patrice Bergeron play. Congratulations, Bergy. Enjoy retirement.
What every kid would want in a leader. Nothing but a class act. Hockey, The City of Boston and the Bruins will never be the same😢 thank you bergy for putting it all out on the ice and playing the right way. Watching games on NESN and at the Garden will never be the same again #37totherafters
Such a great person and example for all hockey players worldwide and his bringing up the class of the game meant a lot to people. Hall of famer for his character on the inside too. He says he got it from his Mom 🙏. He will leave a void and be missed as a mentor big time. Will miss watching him win face-offs and back-check all the way and pick up all the pucks after.
Congrats Bergy with respect from a Blackhawks fan. A complete hockey player. Though the city of Boston will miss you, the rest of the league will certainly breathe a sigh of relief when they don’t see the #37 Bruin sweater lined up against them. Incredible career & future HOF’er. Good luck Patrice!
Wishing u nothing but the absolute best in retirement Bergy! When I was younger my favourite team was the Penguins so watching you and the B’s play them was truly a special treat for me. I’ll forever miss and cherish those days. My dads always been the biggest fan of u guys so this team, especially u, have been really close to me. Was hoping to see you and the rest of the B’s face my Bolts in the playoffs but obviously stuff didn’t go the way people were hoping. Thats ok tho bc you and everyone else gave it your all until the very end! Wishing u the very best in the next chapter of your life! Thank u so much for everything Bergy! (:
Bruins fans, this is your moment, and your guy. But I just wanted to say that as a Leafs fan, and team Sweden fan, I have no reason to like Bergeron. He's been the cause of many ruined nights for me. But I always did like him. It was impossible not to. I was never sad to see him at the handshake line, whether he was wearing black and red, or black and yellow. How lucky you guys have been to have had this guy at the helm for so many years.
I remember a certain spring night in 2013; after a certain overtime goal, the bartender at the Charlottetown watering hole I attended said, "you hit a note that would have made Mariah Carey proud." Bergeron, IMO, was the 3rd best centre man in B's history, behind Phil Esposito and Milt Scmidt. As a person of class, he ranks up there with Jean Beliveau, Bobby Orr and Jean Ratelle.
Jean Ratelle was such a gentleman on the ice. He didn't really fit the Don Cherry mold but he was a joy to watch. I'm so glad I had the chance to watch him play.
Dear Bergy, You are one of the greatest, see you in the same categories of legend like Bob Gainey was. Hope you have a great after hockey life. My Respect, A Habs fan
Thanks Bergeron for everything you did to be a BRUIN! One of the best ever so go and enjoy family life and take care of yourself you have a full locker room who knows how to be like Bergy!
Congratulations Mr. Bergeron. You’re the standard for a defensive forward for an entire generation. You were fun to watch-even for a Leaf fan. 1st ballot HOF for me.
Bergy was a good human being. Yes he was a tremendous leader but the reason everyone likes him is because of the person he is, he's a class act all the way, he played the game the right way and he always stayed humble. Merci Patrice pour une cariere exceptional!!!
This was announced on July 19th apparently-I didn't see it until today, and I had been watching. Because a reporter posted a photo of Brad marchand at practice last week. On the opposite shoulder of his jersey, there was a letter-and it was not the letter "A", it's strongly appeared to be the letter "C". We could see the edge of the letter I don't think it was a joke nor photoshopped, so I was waiting and watching and nothing popped up until today on my feeds Apparently he announced his retirement July 19th, day after his 38th birthday, so it appears it leaked out and he had to say something. Or he was just waiting for his birthday as his own deadline but it was pretty clear last week, "C" was on a #63 jersey

It would have been nice for him to and on a higher note but he knows his body best.
I'd rather not see him go out like Chara or Thomas.
I'm asking folks- you think we'll see the Quebec Nordiques return under him?
Or do you think he'll find a place in the Bruins organization?
That would be funny if the next nordiques team was an affiliation team of the Boston Bruins!
@@TheFoolintherainn If you think Bergeron in the lineup is why Boston lost in the first round I'm guessing baseball is your favourite sport.
A legend and clearly a first ballot Hall of Famer, much love and respect from Ottawa!
Nah definitely not HOFer he's trash Canadian
Bonne retraite Pat et bon retour à la maison !
As a diehard leaf fan I can say the man broke my heart many times. But the game will not be the same with him leaving. Bergeron and merchant are two of the best ambassadors the game has had. I’m honoured to have been lucky enough to see him play and will always remember his greatness
As a lifetime Flyers fan.Bergy is such a great player and a greater human.Hope to meet him some day.
From a Rangers fan since 1979,he was always nothing but class, integrity, guts and a privilege to watch. While I have to detest the logo, I can respect the man. And I absolutely respect this man. Best of luck in the future. I hope they retire his number.
Congrats Bergy - hell of a career. It's clear how much you mean to your teammates, us Bs fans, the city of Boston, and hockey fans in general.
Thank you Bergy!!! We still love you
I miss you Bergeron. You did so much that a lot of players never have and never will. You won a Stanley Cup, you were the captain of the best hockey team in the world EVER, 6 Selke trophies and I can go on. I Already miss you. Good luck. Go B’s. Don’t poke the bear
I’m not a Bruins fan but this is truly beautiful
Enjoy your retirement Bergy you deserve it
Bergy was the Best, thanks for the Memories.
Thank you Patrice 💛🖤💛🖤
Absolutely one of the best to ever lace em up. Both on and off the ice.
As a lifelong bruins fan, this is the most bitter sweet video I’ve ever watched. Thank you Bergy💛
Habs fan here.........Mr. Bergeron had excellent teamates. Great hockey team right there. Patrice Bergeron = Jean Béliveau.
A classy player being respected by his teammates. Priceless
Don’t like the bruins but Bergeron is easily the most likeable guy on the team and in the league . Hell of a player. Respect
thanks for everything bergy, we will miss you so much 🥹🤍
You can feel the love, and the respect they have for him. I wish him all the best in his retirement, he gave everything he had, and then some, now it’s time for him to enjoy his new life, as a Habs’ fan,I couldn’t be happier to see him retire after years of owning us, as a fan of game; I will miss him.
Thank you for everything Bergy ❤❤❤
I am sad, really sad! Thank you for everything Bergy, enjoy retirement Captain😩😢
HOF for sure! amazing man and career! You will be missed! Aloha from Hilo Hawaii!
pens fan here but ive always respected the bruins and that video brought a tear to my eye that was def a close family bergeron had in the lockeroom what a legend
This is a day I never wanted to experience. Bergy has been the best end-to-end, a spokesman for the sport, his dedication to family, friends, and even many other players on other teams.
Grats on the next step in your life, Patrice. Nothing but respect and admiration from this Blues fan.
It was a pleasure to watch your whole career bergy , you have givin me alot of great memories ... gl man
As a fairly new hockey fan (Knights fan) I’m glad I got to see the magical player that is Patrice Bergeron play. Congratulations, Bergy. Enjoy retirement.
Thank you Patrice for all the years.
Such a heartfelt video! you will be missed ! Bless you and your family !
Thank you Bergy we thank you the most in bruins history
I not crying your crying😭😭😭😭😭😭
What every kid would want in a leader. Nothing but a class act. Hockey, The City of Boston and the Bruins will never be the same😢 thank you bergy for putting it all out on the ice and playing the right way. Watching games on NESN and at the Garden will never be the same again #37totherafters
Congrats from a Nucks fan, respect Bergy!
I was hoping he would stick around for another year or two but hockey is a demanding game. Happy retirement sir.
Thanks Patrice
Such a great person and example for all hockey players worldwide and his bringing up the class of the game meant a lot to people. Hall of famer for his character on the inside too. He says he got it from his Mom 🙏. He will leave a void and be missed as a mentor big time. Will miss watching him win face-offs and back-check all the way and pick up all the pucks after.
Congratulations on 19 years! you will be missed on the ice lets go bruins!
Even as an Avs fan, this makes me sad. Probably the best 2 way forward to play the game.
Thanks Patrice🖤💛👏👏👏🤩😥..what a leader..
Sure will miss him the heart beat of the bruins for the last decade of not longer
Love ya Bergy
Congratulations
My Respect,
A Habs fan
From a life long Sabres fan. PB#37 pure class act , excellent career, Hall of famer, 2 way Beast . Well done hats off !!!!!!
We will miss you Bergy wonderful video of the guys saying their goodbyes but Brad seems to be touched by this departure the most
i will miss him
retire number 37
I second this
Third! It’s time for 37 to retire to the Garden.
Please
Ahh damn, the Krecji one got me
Thanks Bergeron for everything you did to be a BRUIN! One of the best ever so go and enjoy family life and take care of yourself you have a full locker room who knows how to be like Bergy!
I’m not crying, you’re crying!🥲
Congratulations Mr. Bergeron. You’re the standard for a defensive forward for an entire generation. You were fun to watch-even for a Leaf fan. 1st ballot HOF for me.
Thank you, Bergy ❤
😢..... I knew it was coming, still.... I wasn't ready.
Thanks for the memories #FOREVERBOSTON #RETIRE37
Next step…Hall of Fame! Thanks Bergie for 19years of great hockey!!!
Bergy was a good human being. Yes he was a tremendous leader but the reason everyone likes him is because of the person he is, he's a class act all the way, he played the game the right way and he always stayed humble. Merci Patrice pour une cariere exceptional!!!
Inspirational
Damn I wish they could have won him that Cup again.
Broke my heart in 2014. One of the greatest to ever play the game. Enjoy Retirement Berg.
thanks Bergy, one of the truly great men in this world
Legend. And I’m a Canucks fan so that’s saying a lot.
37 should be going to the rafters opening night!!
Congrats on an incredible career Bergy.
From a habs fan
Thanks Bergy.
Congratulations on a amazing career. Enjoy retirement. Cheers 🇨🇦
Marchand is taking it hard
Congrats Patrice, enjoy life! Marchand, you have the numbers to be the next Cpt. for Bruins; I believe in you!!!💛🖤💛
This was announced on July 19th apparently-I didn't see it until today, and I had been watching.
Because a reporter posted a photo of Brad marchand at practice last week. On the opposite shoulder of his jersey, there was a letter-and it was not the letter "A", it's strongly appeared to be the letter "C". We could see the edge of the letter
I don't think it was a joke nor photoshopped, so I was waiting and watching and nothing popped up until today on my feeds
Apparently he announced his retirement July 19th, day after his 38th birthday, so it appears it leaked out and he had to say something.
Or he was just waiting for his birthday as his own deadline
but it was pretty clear last week, "C" was on a #63 jersey
Congrats to him he will be missed
