    Jose Bautista credited the leg kick to him being a monster home run hitter

    One day at batting cages with my son after watching a short clip of yours, and my half-a$$ instruction, he went 3/4 today and the non-hit was a walk. His bat speed is WAY improved. Thank you, sir!

      a walk is not an out. it does not count as an at bat, he was 3/3 with a walk. not 3/4.

    New to the channel and love what you’re doing. I didn’t fully understand the active roll of the hands in generating bat speed. I always turned my shoulders and “released the barrel” never really thought of the hands as a active force generator in the way you demonstrate. I feel like I’ve learned a lot in the two days that I’ve watched your videos.

    I have just subscribed, I play golf & I see a lot of power in your swing, so I will try to adopt your swing to golf, all I have to do to transition is to hit down with left hip then push up with left leg on impact to gain momentum.

    Just wanted to say THANK YOU!! I will send you some videos of my son and what we are doing. He is 7, almost 8. Today at his game I told him, "All you have to do is keep that front foot up!!" He did and he was ripping it!!! I can't wait to work on the drills and he cant either! He also wants to make sure I say thank you from him too!

    New to the channel but a big fan....I do have a question. Are there any adjustments to make your overall technique apply to older guys like me who play adult slow pitch softball? Since the pitches are coming at us at a different angle? Do we still apply the lean etc...

    • @TeachermanHitting
      @TeachermanHitting  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Same principles still apply, but have more leeway to "get away" with certain things due to increased reaction time.

    • @jjmarcos
      @jjmarcos 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would not use any of his techniques for slow pitch softball. The main thing (from what I can gather) his technique does is it sacrifices some power for increased reaction/ accuracy in hitting fast balls. If you have all the time in the world to react to a pitch you want to swing with as much power as you can generate.. ie put the arm swing back in.

    • @robbievalentine8239

      As someone who plays both, due to the arc of the softball, I would rec more cut on the swing than baseball, but the theory applies yes.

    At batting practice, the coach placed a spare tire laying flat underneath my son’s left foot to keep his weight on the right foot while his left foot was lifted up and stayed up. To my surprise, he started crushing every ball to the outfield consistently. Wish he could put that tire there during game time.😂

    I was doing this my whole life it’s crazy your teaching it now my coaches could never understand where I got my bat speed I used to tell them it’s all about the trigger (coil) and snap (hip explosion) I really learned how to do it playing summer softball during the off season I would sub for the older kids when I was in the younger division and smack balls over everybody’s heads yea them were the days by far the best hitting instructor I’ve seen in all my years forsure keep up the good work !

    Question about the swing. Once you supinate your hand and adduct your arm and fire your hips. Is there a specific motion with the hands at follow through? because it feels like a pushing motion after the supination and adduction

    • @TeachermanHitting
      @TeachermanHitting  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Should not feel like a push at any point. Should instead feel like you're releasing energy.

    • @danielVonMises
      @danielVonMises 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are pushing through with your rear pec (back door) as the scapula unloads and weight of bat transfers forward but it should be seamless.

    • @TeachermanHitting
      @TeachermanHitting  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@slapdookieonastick4746 Bryce is a great example. His no stride approach with two strikes has same underlying "engine" as his leg kick, it's just hiding underneath a different stance and timing mechanism. Also keep in mind that down =/ weighted. Nelson Cruz gets his foot "down" early, but that front leg does not get weighted until he's ready to launch.
