Cat took like 12 machete blows and still was holding on. This is why you need a firearm when in the woods around dangerous animals
Well, no, it was fucked within the first one or two blows, to be clear - that was along the spine which definitely did damage that would have killed the cat eventually even if it escaped - but cats are actually shockingly stupid and stubborn when it comes to knowing when to fuck off - partly because they get their claws hooked in and it's hard for them to get them off and just run. It was tangled up with the dog and not in a good position to run off so it went into latch-on and lock-down mode, not understanding that the attacks were coming from the outside, not the dog.
That, or the machete is incredibly dull - a good, sharp machete swung by a strong arm would - I GUARANTEE you - at least partially sever the spine if swung correctly on the first blow. My bet is it's a combination of both - the blade could be a LOT sharper and has probably been siting there rusting in a truck bed forever, plus the cougar is too focused on trying to win the fight with the dog to realize it's being literally killed by the man. Also you can see at one point the dog gets in the way and is almost hit, so the man is having to be careful with his swings too to protect the dog. He's swinging more softly as a result with a likely blunt machete. I've seen a GOOD machete cut a deer carcass literally in half in one blow though so...yeah, a properly maintained, really sharp one will cleave that spine right away, swung properly.
Easier said than done of course - if it were my dog I'd be careful not to hit my boy either. Personally? If the end on it were sharp and I couldn't get a good swing in, I'd get to the back side of it - away from the claws - and stab it between the ribs.
Mankind was doing just fine prior to firearms. In the Native American tribes it was a practiced ceremony/rite of passage to take on a mountain lion and slay it in order to prove worthiness and strength to their tribal leaders.
@@ElMalito187 yeah they was getting they ass tore up too.
Why do people who live in places like this not have 2 powerful fighting dogs that have each others back and will fight to the death. That mountain lion would retreat. Also have a firearm as well.

Note for anyone else that ever has to do this is in an emergency use the tip and stab instead. I’m actually really surprised that the cougar just refused to let go even after being hacked at so many times. Most cats would’ve just given up and ran to find another meal after the first couple whacks. There’s no reason to go down for a meal unless it was really really desperate and it didn’t seem like it was malnourished. Weird.
*EDIT - I googled it. The cougar was indeed very desperate. After officials examined the body, they concluded it had been starving and was close to death due to many infected porcupine quills in its paws and and mouth. It probably had not eaten for weeks when they found it. Unfortunately the dog that belonged to the man’s girlfriend did not survive and had to be put down several days later due to its massive injuries.

Anyone else know that lion and other animal skins are durable as fuck so no animal gets damaged easily
They're exceptionally durable to attacks from bladed weapons such as claws. The difference between claws and a machete though is the fact that claws have a puncture component to them which sneaks through the natural armor that fur gives. It's why spears and bows and thrusting weapons were the go-to tool of choice for hunting for thousands of years. Very few mammals developed defenses to puncturing attacks with exceptions such as the pangolin and armadillo existing.

Thank goodness the owner aint some pansy sheep like most people are.
I know right!?!
You know he’s definitely not a liberal a liberal would have just started saying your an anti dogite your racist bigot to the mountain lion that’s it plus crying.
Owner was more loyal than the other dog!
Like the dude fighting the kangaroo. Do anything to protect your fury babies
I feel bad for the dog and feel bad for the mountain lion at the same time like bro is bleeding all over the floor
27 strikes ….. this is to show the strength of wild animals
He don't want to kill that animal he didn't use full power
@@shaunjack2840 oh i would, free exotic animal pelt
Dude, canines and felines are extremely easy to kill.... this guy was just too bland with this young lion!!!!
@Dev_ChrisDev blud think he's gonna be able to kill a cougar,Probably would lose to a bobcat
@@PerfectCell.475 do u not know what guns are "blud"
Puma died on the first three blows, but you can tell the brain reflex was to clinch the jaw and that might be why it seems like it was still in the fight
That same reflex was making him way his tail? It was still wagging when the video ended.
Yeah I am pretty sure dead animals can't move their tail around.
@TimothySams-eu4gq thanks, I didn't think so.
@@9889stephanie They can. It’s just nerves. We had to put down my family dog and was told it’s very common for there to be a little movement after it dies.
Yes, animals and humans can still have some movement or twitching for up to an hour after death.
This is so much Oregon. Damn.... how is it that with this much real life Oregon still leans left? I don't get it.
Sometimes you got to stab, not slash
its kinda hard to stab with a civilian machete especially one thats a dull like his, almost more tool, meant to clear brush
@@hellboy4112pause, angle, thrust, repeat, guys a legend regardless.
Exactly
The overwhelming majority of machetes I’ve come across have rounded tips for the exact reason that they are not, nor have they ever been, designed for stabbing. It’s literally a chopping tool.
@@n.j.crawleryes, you are correct
For how much I like lions i would definitely do the same to protect my dogs
Yep
Damn, that lion was fucking stubborn
Damn im sure that blonde dog didnt recover from that suicide hold the cougar sank in. Poor thing.
The brown dog would get these hands for not helping lol.
What about the guy recording could have warned him with his horn but decided to pull his phone out and record
@@abimhhgrrcunzolebh1688 exactly
@@abimhhgrrcunzolebh1688 yes good point but it could be argued that the feline just did not care. I mean he did not care about the machete in his neck 26×.
😂
@@abimhhgrrcunzolebh1688In his defense, he always has that damn phone in his hands
