    I browse the Classic area at that Bucks everytime I'm there. I love that they don't crush them until they have been fully picked over unlike the regular stuff that seems to cycle through in about 90 days tops.

    I have been mistaken for years. I always thought that all General Motors vehicles throughout the years manufactured only overhead valve engines as opposed to the old flat head mill's! Thanks for this enlightening video.Your videos are the best!!

      Pontiac featured flathead 6 and straight 8s until 1954, Cadillac had flathead V8s until 1948 Olds had flathead 6s and straight 8s until 1948. Only Chev and Buick were always OHV engines.

    You should plan a trip to Arizona if you want to see some classic junkyard iron. They don't rust away in the dry air. Half of Canada is there in the winter. Maybe you could catch a lift. The dude abides, dude.

    A '60 Pontiac! Thank you! I watched 'The Woods' (2006) here on TH-cam last night, and there's a beautiful example, toward the beginning of the movie. I wondered what it was. Thought maybe it was a Mercury, since there are no fins.

    I have seen a couple in restored show cars, but not anywhere else. You might find one on eBay, but the odds of finding one in a junkyard are pretty near zero. I might put the 8-track player in my 72 Fury, just for laughs!

    I want to give you a tip on something you could use to unseize engines I'm not sure if you can get this where you're at but it's called PB Blaster it's good for breaking Rusty things loose have a friend of mine has a 77 Mustang with a 302 in it it was seized up sprayed a whole can of PB Blaster in the cylinders let it sit for 24 hours and the engine turned over good stuff I see that you guys have a lot of seized engine sometimes thanks for the videos they're cool I like Stella she's a cool dog she's a unique Junkyard Dog

  • @coldwarmotors
    @coldwarmotors  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think they ended up here after someone had already used them as parts cars. They are very rare, but most of the trim has already been taken off. I don't think any of the old cars are being crushed until everything useful is gone. I did pull the 8-track; I have a few of them now, and lots of tapes!

    Cool stuff! If I ever buy an american car from the 70s I will certainly put an 8-track in it, it's a must have! For my '58 Plymouth I'm looking for something even more special - I'd like to have a 45RPM record player. But I guess I'll have to keep on looking forever, they are impossible to find over here. Did you ever come across one of these units?

    I always thought these Caddy Coupés are highly desirable and expensive cars? How could they end up in a junkyard like this? I hope they don't crush them before all good parts are gone or maybe someone will get the chance to rescue one or another.
    Did you pull that 8-track player? These are rare in Germany but I came across two home units during the years and even have some tapes...pretty odd stuff for me! :)

  • @marcomalo02
    @marcomalo02 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question...a lot of the 50s and 60s full size cars you drag in have six cylinder engines with standard transmissions. All these would be V8 autos down here. I think I remember that owners are taxed on displacement in the UK. Same in Canada perhaps?

    • @mrdanforth3744
      @mrdanforth3744 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Figure if you lived in Canada your pay would be 25% lower, taxes 25% higher, cars 25% more expensive and gas about twice what you pay. Good reasons for six cylinder cars and small cars to be more popular.

    It's too bad there isn't a classics section at the Bucks in Saskatoon, in fact there aren't any junk yards around here anymore that have anything old.

    Does that 59 Pontiac have a six pot motor with a two barrel? Thought they were only offered with V8's.

    • @mrdanforth3744
      @mrdanforth3744 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Canadian Pontiacs were different. Starting in 55 US Pontiacs were all V8s but Canada offered a 261 cu in six borrowed from Chev trucks.
