- Cobras, E-types, Lotuses, Austin Healeys and more battled for the Moss Trophy at the 80th Goodwood Members' Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport. Evoking the road-based GT classes of the early 1960s, and bringing a touch of Revival to 80MM this was a classic battle between American V8 and British straight six.

When Buncombe took the lead, I cheered for him! When Cottingham chased him down, I cheered for HIM! Great racing!
Love it! This is real racing, exciting and such beautiful mechanisms. Thank you gentlemen for your dedication.
Lovely to see them dancing around like that. Great to watch the control these guys have. It must be so much fun to be able to slide them around like that. 😊
All wheel drift. I own a TR-250
These cars are much like the ones I used to race back in the '60s. You know. Slot cars at my friend Gary's house. For a kid, it was just as much fun as these guys have at Goodwood. :)
PS My fave was a Jaguar D-Type. With the Le Mans fin. A brutal terror on that plastic track.
D-Type is, imho, the prettiest of all the Jags with the E-Type a very close second. Glad you mentioned it, Tex.
1960s, the era with the most beautiful cars ever made. I love seeing these cars driven hard. Long live Goodwood!🙂
Unfortunately no Ginettas, the most beautiful car of them all.
Glorious to see such exquisite machines really having their legs stretched. Marvellous stuff.
Brilliant racing, and of course, wonderful commentary by the announcers.
It must be amazing to look underneath the hood and the chassis of these beauties 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇮🇹
One of the most beautiful races ever
That green DB4 is simply one of the most beautiful cars ever built!
Superb race. The early narrow-bodied cobras showcase the Cobra's comparatively ancient underpinnings. Even with an excellent power-to-weight ratio, the transverse leaf and body-on-frame chassis from AC is nothing compared to the coilovers with double wishbones and semi-monocoque of the E-type. It's incredible to think how advanced they were for the early 60s.
The only reason that the Jaguar was competitive was that it was out braking the Cobra- Braking was the #1 strength of the AC, due to it weighing way less than any other car. I think that these E-Type weigh far less than they did in period.
Cobra grunt ,love it
I love these videos, they remind me how once cars were painfully beautiful and racing was really exciting. Being a yank it’s a bit amusing to hear the gentle but perfectly understandable bias of the Brit announcers.
Interesting to see that a much heavier Jag XKE, with less power than a Cobra but somehow, these two, are quite a match here at Goodwood. And the skinny tires must be mandatory here as no Cobra past the first year of production ever used such sinny rubber. I know some drivers are much better than others but these two cars battle a lot here and the Jag seems to have the upper hand at times.
In the era when these cars were new and racing, no Jag ever was faster than the 289 cid Cobra ! I lived through this time and have all the magazines to prove it as the Cobra walked over everything including the lead-sled Vetts. And at this small circuite you don't see many Vetts even competing.
One of the best races of the year - of any type - anywhere.
Imagine if those Cobra's had the big 429 cube engines some came with instead of the baby 289 cu these ones have. All the rest would get lapped.
Great racing
Lovely to see the E Type, not as a posers car, but as a sleek racing machine.
Great battle between the AC Cobra and the E-Type.
The definition of crazy fun! ❤
Just wonderful.
No trailer queens here, just proper racers, awesome!
Real racing - I can watch this all day long......Sooooooo much more entertaining then NASCAR.
More fun than F1.
Absolutely
As much as I like the lines of an E-Type, I'd rather have that 250.
The license plate on the E-Type from the thumbnail is original and amazing. Anyone know where it's from?
I was intrigued by your comment and spen the last half hour searching and the only ones that even look to come close are either from Pennsylvania or Ney York from the late 60'-to the early 70's
I looked at plates from all over the world 😅
@@thatfordguy2268 damn, that's great to hear
the best
I never see an e type. Can’t believe how many are on this track
juste nos Peugeot 505 turbo vous ferait des grosse misère 😁✋🇫🇷🤝🇬🇧
Who fitted that wheel...Barns Wallis?
Why isn't the mini cooper in the mix?
E-type weight = 2721 vs AC cobra weight of 2200 lbs. Something isnt right about the E-Types at Goodwood.
In the 60's, they were not competitive on the track with the AC.
The Jaguar engines these days give out SOOO much more power than in the '60s
I had the exact same thought. Maybe the Cobras in this race are wheel/tire limited or maybe these are 260 ci, not 289? No matter, absolutely beautiful cars.
The E-types are very tuneable, let’s put it that way😉
@@Thou1 like Newey’s cheaty e type!
@@Rattlecanjeff Yep, and everything else cheaty about that thing…let’s hope it doesn’t make a return to this year’s Revival🤞

I love these cars but I wish you would do a better job of identifying the models themselves
🏁🏁🏁🏁👏👏👏👏
What's the value of those car?
Is that a real Ferrari 250?? Real Aston’s? Wow
J ai jamais compris pourquoi vous avait vendu cette ac cobra c était quoi avant une AMG non
Superior racing to current F1. These cars have actual clutches and a shifter to row!
5 min in and no mention of either DB4 GT and it’s getting uncomfortable.
