Ayyy Ben my DJ tutor from 10 years ago. hope ur doing well!!! loved having him as a tutor when i took the Complete DJ Course back in 2014 at Point Blank in London.
I mostly mix on turntables but I found this video very informative and entertaining aswell. I'm going to try these things whem I'm playing with my friends decks again!
There is a very efficient trick on the 'CDJ 900NXS2' that I haven’t seen anyone else know of. The trick involves holding down 'info' and selecting one of the other players, then clicking on the folder using the song selector wheel. This will allow the playlist from the other player to open on the player you are using. Personally, I have only managed to do this on the CDJ 900NXS2 line. In the 3000 models, the steps are the same, but the playlist doesn’t open; instead, it remains selected within 'songs'.
Whoa that is handy! Especially when it's time to mix in the next track on your deck and you want to continue browsing the same playlist without interrupting the flow.
Need to be careful with using the digital link out, as have had problems when using cheaper analog cables. I have experienced it sounding bit like a 'bit crunch' intermittently. Anyone else had this?
Thanks for the instant double, I always missed that (not having CDJ at home probably didn't help), it was there, if only I had better vision in the dark :)
I was exclusively Pioneer for 20 years. I got tired of hacking everything and just bought SC6000s. Denon made DJing fun again. But my kids like to putter around on the 3000s, and it's a statement of their durability.
Good tips, never considered using the roll that way, I think the Q button hack is a little long winded though. I imagine it would be more simple just using a Hot Q button (assuming all buttons aren't used already). Most decks that have the loop button option, usually have Hot Q buttons, but the same isn't always said the other way round.
Hot cues are only available on flagship CDJs (3000, 2000 etc) as well as XDJ-1000 series and all in ones. If you're using 900s or 850s and below, this would be the only way to cue with a broken button.
Good tips but i honestly prefer my dj controller on serato, much more fun and creative to use with the pads, effects etc.. even if its not the same quality I feel like playing on CDJ is boring and this things are expensive !!!!
7:12 it happens because DJs have seen other DJs hitting the cue button like 50 times to cue one track up… which is retarded as most the tracks they play are all the same bpm now as I found out covering a few jump up tunes while a dj had a piss.. literally didn’t have to touch the pitch once in 6 tracks I played.. At my pirate station I told the DJs to tap next to the button if they can’t count a track in in their head you only need to push it once to cue the track at the first beat and press play once.. if I did catch them doing it they got a finger poked in their ribs hard a few times and I said now you know how the deck feels 😂
AI track splitting into component instruments. Not there yet, but soon. Until then doing it from via other utilities and sampling the individuals tracks in does the job.
@@pointblankmusicschool I've not been keeping up with the latest tech (I DJed back when I had to sit with a stopwatch and count out my BPMS and write them down), but I don't think it's that far away, given that there's software that does it so well now.
tbf many of these tips (if not all of these tips, I'm not full through the video lol) are specific to the CDJ + club mixer situation, so not really something you gotta think about unless you're transitioning to using a club setup.
The first is not an hack... if the mixer is link connected with correct setting channel on players, beat effects follow instantly the pitch of the deck... only the cue substitution is a really hack. The others are just the functions of the gears ; read the manual and imagine.

who brings their own RCA cable or link cable? Clubs/venues should always have that prepared. we’re only required to make sure we have enough music to keep the party going
The idea is that you can salvage existing RCA cables if you run into this problem at a gig. These hacks aren't just for club/bar DJs! Mobile DJs bring their own kit and they could run into these problems too!

Rekordbox shows the Bpm 126.00.
But on the cdj 3000 the Bpm is 126.0.
The cdj need to show the same Bpm as rekordbox does.
An update would be nice.
Thank you some very nice tips

Doesn't Pro DJ Link set the mixer's BPM automatically to the playing deck's BPM without the need for tapping etc?
It does but only if the mixer is linked and many 2 deck setups are connected simply by a single ethernet cable and not a network hub.
Is it possible to listen a track without load it like in the rekordbox pc software ?
Nice tips ❤💯
Great info lads!
Once I was at a party where only 1 deck was working. The DJ's whole night mixed with roll.
That's pretty cool!

@pointblankmusicschool
What tracks were being played? Specifically looking for the artist that created "Believer (Original Mix)"
I mean, am I wrong when I say you can just config an xml on a usb, have an external midi pad set as shortcuts to minimize the effort of these hacks?
Hack 2 is a bummer, on a Denon SC6000, which costs 1000 Bucks less, you can just play 2 decks with one player, without the struggle of using rolls.
I was exclusively Pioneer for 20 years. I got tired of hacking everything and just bought SC6000s. Denon made DJing fun again. But my kids like to putter around on the 3000s, and it's a statement of their durability.

Why not just set cue points when loading music into your library and use the cue buttons? (And why did Pioneer put them above the platters?)
Lower end CDJs don’t have hot cues but they all have the memory function.
So usually that filter parameter discussed in last bonus tip should be Min or Max at 12o clock position?
Think of it as a 0-100% wet dry with 12’ o clock being 50%
