This is what I love about Jonny. You see, most rock remix channels have the guitar dominate everything, and oversaturate the remix with guitars. However, Jonny gives chances for Synth, Drums, or Bass take the spotlight and support the guitar, and background guitar seems to be minimized with Jonny’s works.
Finally someone puts it into words
and it really makes sense for the Synth to be put forward on this song, given that Uematsu is a Synth player/keyboardist when he plays with The Black Mages, or when he appears in games (ex: the game Granblue Fantasy, which he composed some of the earlier songs for, has him as a summon that powers up your team by playing a steampunk synth... it's great)

Sabin's blitz commands are so much easier to do in the mobile version

GodDAMN good job on those drums. I don't mean just playing them, the arrangement is spectacular.
They are really something else.
I feel like the drums make or break metal covers. There's so many covers out there that fall flat because of weak drums. Leaf Xceed is another remixer who has some amazing drum work even if it is synthesized, check out his track 'Eclipse of Time,' it's a Chrono Trigger medley and it's so freaking good.
