- We're taking on the final forms of Lavos in this double remix of World Revolution and Last Battle from Chrono Trigger!

Chrono Trigger does not deserve the neglect I have given it. I think I mention on every Q&A live stream that I need to get back to Chrono Trigger, and today we're FINALLY doing it! And what better way to get back to it than with the most requested song, World Revolution, followed by the Last Battle theme?

You ask, what puts Lavos above all others?
Well, he figured out the player knows how 3-part bosses work and hid himself in one of the minions instead of being the big shooty thing.
Squire Doodad oh yeah, that’s a really cool part of the fight, and I’m happy other RPG’s don’t do it. Makes this feel more special.
Part of it is that everything prior has TRAINED you to target the big guy for the quick kill, in particular, Lavos Boss Rush is generally a push over due to no increase in stats, so you see all the old 3 part bosses where you dealt with the minions first because of shit like Delta Counter, and just punch through the core in one shot... and then Lavos Heart is Arms and Head again, reinforcing that Secondary Parts and Core concept, which makes Lavos Core turning it on you a really good twist, and it helps fill that point of intelligent manipulation of life, even in final combat, it continues to manipulate you with long con plays like that
@@syrelian my D&D knowledge helped me. I aimed for the supports first then the core.
I accidentilly murdered lavos by targeting that one support bit to begin with because 'Yea one of these support goons needs to die NOW.'

So it finally clicked how they created lavos' roar, and it's admittedly stupid but awesome...
They tried recreating a t Rex's roar on the highest note on the electronic guitar then put it down through the snes' synthesizer...

Me at 2:00: OMFG THEY COVERED THE CORE THEME??!!!
The drums and synth give it that characteristic SNES sound, but the guitars elevate the sound to an eldritch roar.
This theme is just legendary. One final hope against a massive, intimidating evil for the first half, and the second half has the most amount of possibilities, timelines collapsing in on one another because all the timelines were built upon Lavos destroying the world.
It makes sense that you'd be warping in and out of all the time periods while fighting this thing. The fate of the entire world, and all the timelines hang in the balance on this fight, and you're the only thing capable of stopping the evil. This theme does a really good job of making you feel like the world's last hope for survival
You got that one part in Last Battle that alternates left/right tracks!

This is the best Chrono Trigger cover I have ever heard. It respects the original in every way, and builds upon it with great heart and mastery. This is pure love. Yasunori Mitsuda should be very proud and amazed.
Only a legend could make the Lavos scream work THAT well on guitar.

@@imptwins Well he did say in his updated cover of Dancing Mad that he wanted to move onto some new stuff so I wouldn't hold your breath, but if we're lucky it could happen next time he does a batch of remakes!

@@mystycitty3118 Honestly it could actually work really well, the only thing that bugs me about the song is that really grating synthesized sitar noise. It'd probably wind up sounding like metal polka or something.

Not true at all. This game might be the easiest JRPG I've ever played and there are no exceptionally difficult bosses either.

I have always thought this particular piece of game music was absolutely untouchable, perfect as it was, never needed anything added, no changes.
But GaMetal proved that even something so purely perfect can be interpreted in a way that makes it better. Well done dude, this is my favorite boss theme of all time, and you did it JUSTICE.

A little tale from my work days:
I used to work in a multimedia shop, in the video games section. To have something on the background, when there wasn't any nice set of recent trailers we could put, we usually went with the game OSTs, mostly RPG ones due to how contemplative they often are.
One day, we went with Chrono Trigger's OST. With Lavos' theme having its own distinctive creepy cry. The moment the cry was let out, one customer turned back with a face of shock and a "LAVOS !" exclamation I'll never forget to this day.
Maaan...imma just...bask in the sheer greatness fused with my nostalgic trip back in time to facing Lavos the first time.
Amazing! Lavos' theme is really atmospheric and im glad you didn't skip the final battle.
This. This creates a wave of nostalgia I don’t even have because I’ve never played Chrono Trigger but THIS STUFF ROCKS. Obligatory request though: a Fire Emblem Battle Medley similar to Premium arrange but hitting every game through Three Houses with strikes, enemy attacks, boss themes, etc. bonus points if you can include the following tracks
-Clash of Two Virtues (FE 1/3/11/12)
-The Scions Dance in Purgatory (deserving of its own cover as well) (FE15)
-against Arvis (FE4)
-Applying Justice - Raydrick (FE5, also in the Premium arrange)
-In the Name of Bern (FE6)
-Swiftly with Grace (FE7)
That’s all I can think of for now, but any of these would more than make my day.

An absolutely excellent remix of two of the greatest final boss themes from one of the greatest games in history.
I cleared this game not long ago, and boy, did I fall in love with it hard, this final theme felt SO GOOD for it too, like, super fitting, and the leitmotifs were present in great ways. Love it

Y'know, @GaMetal, I used to be someone who disliked the solos you put into your remixes. But today, nearing the end without a solo yet, I realized that if there was a GaMetal remix without a solo, it just wouldn't feel right. Guess I've been won over!
Then the solo kicked in and all was right with the world.
I've been waiting for years for another truly outstanding remix of World Revolution, and that glorious day has finally come.
@Lavos I'm also a big fan of Lucifer TYPE-R 2ND-side's remix of the song. I hadn't heard of Malcom Robinson's until just now, so thank you for turning me on to it!
World Revolution has got to be one of my favorite songs (of anything) and nobody has done a decent job covering it until you. I had looked for years (OCR - 15 years ago and further) and when I found this about a year ago I was blown away. I probably still listen to this 2-3 times a week if not more. Awesome work man keep doing your thing! This really means a lot to me and I'm sure other songs you have done do the same for others' favorite games/pieces.
