I bought this to replace my GORUCK Bullet 15L, because GORUCK hates water bottle pockets. I used it as a grab and go bag, and coffee shop type EDC. I don't hike, so that that wasn't a factor. I think this is a great all around bag. It does most things well enough. Evergoods listed dimensions are: 17.75" x 8.25" x 9.5" I'm tall, so I thought that would be an issue. It wasn't, and the bag was mostly comfortable. I didn't have lower bag digging, I felt the dig between my shoulders. I ended up selling the bag and going back to the 15L Bullet. I also bought an inexpensive bag, the Burton Day Hiker 22, which is a nice alternative to the MPL22.
Evergoods have dangle stoppers. They are done in a very unusual way. There are loops just above length adjusting buckles, these perfectly fit all extra straps and "stop the dangle")))
I know you've mentioned in a bunch of reviews about the stiffness/lack of elasticity in their mesh, but I think the ideology behind it is that they design and stitch most or all their pockets so they generally have independent volume. In most cases in which I've used their bags I've actually appreciated that the mesh allows visibility while still maintaining structure to prevent the pockets from sagging or expanding further in other areas. I think there's been a time or two where I've wanted a little stretch to make finagling something in or out easier. But generally I feel like anything with stretch ends up wearing out or losing elasticity over time with how I use it, so this works better for me as someone who uses a single bag and ancillary organization (pouches, etc) until they wear out. I understand that you as a reviewer probably don't run into this issue as much given the diverse range of products you test leading to less stress and strain being put onto any one item. Just a point of thought for comparison from a different view! Thanks for the work you do, cheers.
This is the only comfortable Evergoods bag IMO. Still doesn’t compare to something like Aer, but because this bag has a foam frame sheet and doesn’t have a 90 degree curve at the base, it’s the only one that doesn’t hurt my back.
There are other alternatives out there at a more friendly price point such as Osprey Daylight Plus that have worked really well for my travels and EDC. Nonetheless this review is helpful.
I like these kangaroo like pouches that were on the last couple of bags you reviewed. I think what's key for that is it has to have some give to it. For example, the Errant pro has one but really doesn't have give so that limits what can be stuffed in there (to be fair they market it as a magazine holder but you are limited to more flat like items). I love that you put a sweater in it 😊
I had the CTP in my cart more than once. I almost pulled the trigger but saw your video with all the loose straps. I can’t justify that price point not having them even if they are cheap.
can you make 2 videos for the backpack category : 1. edc, all rounder and travel size backpack collection those who do not have laptop storage or have it but it can be removed 2. edc and all around size backpack collections which is suitable or comfortable to use by motorcyclists or attached to a motorbike sorry if my english not good
Need some bag recommendations for a week long trip to Disney World. Want something lightweight, breathable (Florida is hot!), dual exterior water bottle pockets (one for myself, one of my child), no tech compartment (not taking a laptop into the park), a decent sized quick access area to hold grab and go supplies (wipes/tissues/etc), something around 18-24L, water resistant in-case of a rainstorm, and something colorful. Do you have any suggestions? As an aside, seems like a good topic for a video (Best ## bags to take to a theme park!)
This one seems to have the least aggressive curve. It's the only evergoods bag that's ok comfortable. I can't carry the CPL. This one I do like. I can't find those webholders though. I use those Velcro cable ties. Necessary when buying an evergoods bag... But would have like a stretchy one but I would have to sew those on.
Thanks, Aaron, great content as always! Any suggestions about how to clean backpacks (both internal and external)? I often find myself putting dirty clothes and groceries inside backpacks, and when I go hiking, backpacks get dust and dirt naturally.
Thanks so much! The cleaning process will vary from fabric to fabric, so it's always best to reach out to the brand you bought your bag from and ask them 💪
Another con is that the water bladder sleeve could have been designed with a false bottom - in case a laptop is carried. I do like the exterior pockets though.
Have you ever tested any bags that you like for everyday or single bag travel that are also waterproof? Not water/weather resistant. I'm looking for something where if it fell out of a boat or kayak it could handle floating in the water for about 5 minutes to give me time to get it out of the water while also keeping my gear safe and dry. Any recommendations?
Patagonia Guidewater or Breakwater Supply Fogland for something that would still be streetable. StahlSac and Gecko Brands for more straight up adventure gear.
I tell you what.. if I was Osprey, I'd be like... "Hey.. hey.. hey Evergoods.. you er, seem to have made a Daylite.. nah nah.. it's cool.. it's cool.. let's call it 'inspired by' rather than 'copy of'.. Kay? Kewl.. loves ya buddy" 😂
loll I mean there might be similarities but I think a lot of hiking bags in this size range have been following a lot of the same design principles for a long time... if it ain't broke don't fix it!
@@Nomads.Nation I think it's the top zip, bottle pockets and sort of shape of the front panel and bottom that makes it look a little Daylite Like, but it's got upgraded materials and different back etc. Looks a good Pack, I like colour though, ime its harder to lose a bright purple pack when you're in the forest. 😄

And it works pretty well …
Thanks, never noticed that before

Appreciated and totally get your point - EG are the best at stuff like this. But I still PERSONALLY prefer the feel and functionality of power mesh ;)
We are being absolutely spoiled by NN and GFTG with all these reviews! Loving it ❤
So glad you are getting value out of them!
What's GFTG?

I agree that I found this to be less back-digging than some of the others

If I may add 1 more, the best rain cover for backpack
thanks for your suggestions!
3d printed 16” MacBook Pro? Genius! And VERY useful! Thank you!
glad you found it useful!!

velrco stretchy ones would be cool, they have to be available online somewhere 🤔
Looks like a nice alternative to the Bellroy venture ready 26L
for sure!

Off topic: What brand of the t-shirt you are wearing? The cutting seems nice~
cutsclothing.com - best shirts in the game (but the cons are they are expensive and they don't handle stains very well)
for two hundred dollars id like to see dangle stoppers and magnetic sternum straps but that's just my opinion
preach

interesting
Wonder if you could stitch one in it you were determined to.

I have not, maybe look into scuba diving bags

Evergoods took the water bottle holders from the MPL series and put it on the CTB series. Talk about crossover 😂
😂
Any Japanese brands? Seems like the same bags/Brands all across youtube
We do our best to showcase new brands, but at the end of the day we live and die by our community so we gotta review the bags they wanna see!
Just commenting on the fact that Aaron referenced Petey Pablo in this review
