WCW Nitro and WCW/nWo Thunder were my first two wrestling games when I was little back in the late 1990s. Unfortunately, both Nitro and Thunder games sucked. So in the year of 2000, at the age of 9 yrs. old, my grandma bought WWF SmackDown! for the PlayStation. So I decided to get the WWF/E games instead.
4:43.; Here's something I never noticed until now as far as the 'WCW Monday Nitro' logo in the banner. Instead of the TNT logo, it has THQ written in almost that exact same style of lettering.

I know this will be an unfair comparison but I think this game, WCW nitro. For the PlayStation, personal computer, and Nintendo 64, is way better than the current WWE games. I am dead serious. Great video! The Pokemon segment had me laughing hard! I own this game on both N64 and PS1.. it's got a spot in my heart from my youth. I remember playing the demo for this on a demo disc way before the game came out. And back then, it was awesome to me. I was young, very young at the time.
The only good thing about this and Thunder were the cheats and rants. I swear all the WCW Games except for WCW NWO Revenge sucked. The WWF games were much better
Johnny B world tour on n64 was good too. It was kinda the building block upon which revenge was built. Same kind of gameplay. Try it out if you like revenge.

I always thought that it was the other way around.; I guess I can edit my Hulk Hogan Create-A-Wrestler in the first 'WWE SmackDown! VS. RAW' because I got him in a black shirt with the white logo.

Reason why they went with the N64 version after PS's Thunder came out wasn't a $ milking thing. I don't know how old you are but I remember back in the day you were either a PS player or a N64 player. I didn't know many people who had both; at least casual gamers anyway. Even though Nitro was shit, it was great to be able to get as much wrestling games as we could back when wrestling was actually good. I thought the best part of Nitro was the roster and the "rants" because the better games like Revenge/No Mercy/WM2000 didn't have .fmv element and a lot of N64 games altogether didn't really sport the .flv. That was something you only really saw on PS so that was kind of refreshing. Game itself sucked though.

I'd love to see a Fire Pro Wrestling Returns review... however it seems to get the most out of it you either need to spend A LOT of time tweeking everything or have an Action Replay Max.
I agree, im not all big on the newier games myself... Here Comes the Pain is on the top of my fav wrestling game list along with Wcw revenge and Fire Pro Wrestling returns.

I remember when I was little and I used to go to my grandparents. My uncle,before he moved out cuz he was like 20, had this for ps2. I was addicted to it. I loved it. I hated wcw growing up. I had Attitude & Smackdown 1&2 for ps1. Even though I was a huge wwf fan I loved this game. It sucks now but I loved it as a kid
The sad truth is... THQ's WCW games had better exclusives on the N64 both developed by AKI, while the 2 PlayStation exclusives Nitro and Thunder (which were both developed by Inland Productions) were terrible (from what I've heard). Case in point, AKI's WCW N64 exclusives are better than Inland Productions's WCW PlayStation exclusives. WCW vs. The World was also developed by AKI and that was a PlayStation exclusive, but compare WCW vs. The World to the 2 Inland Productions games, WCW vs. The World was the better game.
Funny thing about WCW and WWF in the 90s... WCW was better than WWF (until Attitude Era kicked into high gear) but the WCW games sucked. Except for the 2 N64 Aki games, of course.

I can't stand any fighting game that requires memorizing button combos. I don't even bother with games like street fighter or mortal kombat anymore because of this. I just want to put in a game and play it like wcw/nwo revenge or super smash bros. More games need to learn from the control styles of those two games and stop using the outdated button combo method.
I actually love Mortal Kombat and am a huge fan of it but even I agree they need to stop with the memorizing button combos thing. It gets annoying and is way more complicated to play
I played both Nitro and Thunder. Both awful, and both made me insanely jealous of my mates who had N64's as they got Revenge, No Mercy etc. Also, in regards to putting the disc in a cd player and getting the in-game music, that was a pretty common feature with the playstation discs. WWF Attitude, funnily enough, did have the game versions of the wrestler's themes lol. Loving your work, peace
I remember this game. I played it with high hopes after WCW vs The World was out. Unfortunately it fell short of my expectations. I think at the time WWF was starting to get popular with games made by Acclaim. I believe Warzone & Attitude were out around the time of this games release.
wcw was way better than wwf. Wwf of that era was just all about the hardcore gimmicks like thumbtack matches and barb wire. It just relied on blood and gore rather than interesting storylines and good wrestling like wcw.

@LionsEdge Well a few N64 cartridge games did have FMV Video which were Resident Evil 2 and Pokemon Puzzle League, Albeit it had grainy scenes.

yea tekken is pretty good. It does seem to require some combo memorization but atleast most people can just pick up and play it pretty easily
