(I made plenty based on actual WWE superstars to make up the roster)).

I think it's to appeal to a wider, more general audience. A younger or casual fan might not know what a "heel" or "face" is. I don't agree with it, and clearly, neither do you, but it is what it is :/
i remember getting my Gamecube with wrestlemania x8 for christmas. i only rented this game but i remember liking it a whole hell of a lot more than x8. but i played these games before i played HCTP
That actually is how King of the Ring worked in the standard rules at the time. The King of the Ring finale is the match just before the world title, the winner of the tournament goes on to challenge the champion.
I used to own the GC Wrestlemania X8... Didn't have this one but I distinctly remember the Revenge mode seen on here. Must have rented it at Blockbuster. (google it young ones) lol...Fun, fun....

He was replaced with Steven Richards, the leader of Right to Censor in sections of the storyline in which Big Show would be in. Since Richards replaced Show as if he never existed. A guy named Maffew (owner of Botchamania) applied this method to Chris Benoit as a joke.

Very good game should of had a normal career mode though. The revenge mode was damn near impossible to beat as well. Still can’t beat it to this day.

There IS 20 unlockable characters but all are custom superstars, most are just bootlegs of actual superstars and others are just kind of movie cameos.
