This is literally the first time me hearing the explicit version. Not that this song didn't have a lot of impact before, but I feel the words that were bleeped definitely added to the emotion that was felt.
I’m white man in my mid thirties who was a, “white boy” growing up in the south during the 90’s. My first music genre of choice was obviously 90’s rock and metal. All the typical bands you could think of. Furthermore, I was raised by a mother and father which were both natives of Yonkers. The same city in which X was from. Being introduced to rap music in late elementary school. I loved it just like I did the rock music of these times. Moreover, I can assure you that not just X and rap music itself, but this song specifically played a pivotal role in changing my own life years later in early manhood. At 24 years old, I was at rock bottom myself. It was time for me to man up and fix my life. I’d gotten sober, and it took a few years, but as of today I’ve been eight to nine years clean now. To this day forward, Slippin’ is a song that still gives me goosebumps, and in many times still tears to my yes. To this, all I listen to’s the same 90’s rock and rap which I’d grown up on. There’s nothing else which could ever take its place. All the classics of this era stay on repeat. All day and every day while I’m at work grinding.
Also I think this is a real awesome idea , what you guys are doing. More people need to expand their musical horizons for me the best is when an artist can blend two genres together

Pac and Biggie left a huge hole, but when DMX that was it. This man was a breath of fresh air. X made us feel again with songs like this and his others. I was going through things, Pac was the one I'd listen to, when he died I didn't stop listening to his music but it hurt. "Slippin" helped me and so many others , we related to X because he was coming from a real place. When he did his PRAYER! First, use headphones. When we engineer music we do it on everything. From club subs, to monitors, to u-hauls with one 3" tweeter. But the main focus is headphones as music is consumed 82% of the time by headphones. Music can touch your soul when being enveloped in it. That's why clubs, concerts and headphones are so popular. You don't just need to listen to the music, you need to experience it. Second, I would get a backdrop. Or spice up what you have. I like you guys and think you're a cute couple. This song is the soundtrack to my life and therefore very dear to me. DMX is my #2 pick for best rapper of all time. Changing the subject, I just wanted to give some of my thoughts. First, use headphones. When we engineer music we do it on everything. From club subs, to monitors, to u-hauls with one 3" tweeter. But the main focus is headphones as music is consumed 82% of the time by headphones. Music can touch your soul when being enveloped in it. That's why clubs, concerts and headphones are so popular. You don't just need to listen to the music, you need to experience it. Second, I would get a backdrop. Or spice up what you have. I like you guys and think you're a cute couple. If you keep it up, I can picture you in 3 years and it's vastly different. I see the potential. Just have fun with it. Best of luck.

It not your life but he is talking about what his life and a lot of African American lives are like in the ghetto. So when you here about things going on or your trying to understand why certain people act a certain way, this is kind of like watching in on a therapy session with a man from the streets who grew up with nothing and found his way to prosperity despite the struggles

You know this is proof that you can't judge a book by its cover because I have to be honest here I've never met white people that actually even entertain rap music they have developed this opinion about it that makes them think it's just jibba jabba or something that guys are saying but the thing about rap music that makes it so unique and special in its own right is these are people pouring their hearts out about things that's really happening to them in a lot of the times in real time it just makes me feel some type of way when I here and see these reaction videos of white people my experience with white people is it's always been negative more so than positive because of racist I'm from Chicago and Chicago is a very segregated City even to this very day and when I was a kid I experienced that so I have this picture in my mind or my mind's eye because these are things that I actually saw and went through and it's just amazing to see someone who actually gets what's DMX's trying to say these are real life things real life occurrences and again this is the difference between rap in the 90s compared to wrap up today that's really not saying anything appreciate you guys are definitely hit the like button

Dude in school many story and poems and writing like the Gettysburg Address, the holocaust, most cant relate completely to the past but we can understand, comprehend, and critique with critical thinking, and yes ofcourse you can relate to "falling" be down and out, depression and the hasrshness of life.
