    You have to understand the historical context guys: this is an epic collaboration. And when Biggie’s double album came out this was a huge deal. Biggie and Bone were at the peak of their powers here in the rap game. The build up is beautiful and the beat drops gradually as the intro moves along. People couldn’t wait to hear how Biggie would flow with these guys. I think many people would agree with me that this song is basically perfectly crafted.

    The chorus was just fine the way it was. You need to pay attention to how the instruments built up behind it before you appreciate why the entire song is perfect the way it was put together. Don't touch any part of it; don't change any part that's why it's a classic.

  • @jamedraa8472

    In the intro they layered in each element of the background to create a build up. Biggie switched up his flow, which showed versatility & BTIH created their own lane in hip hop w/ that flow. One of my faves.

    • @ahfimiwonawun
      @ahfimiwonawun 5 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      Row your boat consists of 2 bars and is literally saying the SAME THING on top of itself and saying it in the SAME WAY melodically. That’s it.
      The Bone intro has 7 DIFFERENT BARS and 4 layers where at it’s peak, they’re saying all 7 DIFFERENT bars on top of each other and all 7 of them are vocalized, not in the SAME WAY melodically as in the case of row your boat, but rather they’re all harmonized DIFFERENTLY and YET they made all 7 BLEND sonically.
      That ain’t no damn row your boat. Row your boat is ELEMENTARY compared to this. At the very least, to compare this to row your boat is a VAST OVERSIMPLIFICATION!!!

    You have to remember the Chi, Detroit, and Cleveland were about that mid west swing rap, so eminem of course would have grown up to bones music and that of course had a factor in his flow just like any other artist from an area that came before another artist in the same geographical area that's what they heard growing up and when they started to master the craft they would of course take elements of the artist who was their favorite. Love you guys keep up the good work
    . P.s. I grew up on hip hop but when I got older(special in college) I started to listen everything from classic rock, heavy metal, pop, country. music is a beautiful thing it truly brings people from different backgrounds together.✌🏾

    Civilination 7 and Brad S - most definitely. They WERE high when they recorded this. They were passed out in the studio and everyone wasn't sure if they would be able to do it. When they woke up, Bone simply got up and recorded this in ONE take. This made Biggie go home and do his "homework." Much Respect!!! I think he came back the next day and recorded his lyrics, so Bone was gone and hadn't heard it yet. Most of their chorus or hooks came from things they would spontaneously utter and became used creatively in their music. I just saw them in concert two days ago (unfortunately without Bizzy Bone). I have MAD respect for them overcoming their struggle, and I really enjoyed their performance. Very cool that you are reviewing this outside of your preference. Interesting that this came up in my feed, so I clicked right away. Sis, you are too cute over Bizzy Bone LOLOLOLOL That's MURDER!!
