How to: Taramps 4 channel wiring tutorial

- The method for wiring up a Taramps 4 channel freaks people out entirely. It's very simple but conventional wisdom tells you thats not how that works....or atleast thats now how it's supposed to work. So I've put together a video giving a full comprehensive walkthrough on how to go about wiring one up in just about every way i can think of as well as adding a few tips ans tricks for someone going crazy with the number of drivers.

thank you for this great video. i am very new to the Taramps Family, I just purchased a 1200x4 Taramp to run 8 4 ohms speaker. I dont know why Taramps made it seem so difficult to hook up to the center terminal. hahaha but that is what makes Tramps different from other compedetors.

I have 4 speakers that are 4 ohms each should i bridge em or just do one in each single channel?
I just got one of these new basically for free on Ebay when i bought the big boss 3k and bass knob with clip light combo. They sent me a deal on top of it and i ended up paying $333 for the new big boss 3k in black color, the new version ds 440x4, and the good bass knob with the clip, power and protect light. Cant beat that deal.

I am new at this and I would love to ask some advice. I have 4 door speakers(8ohms) each. I have bridged my 4 channel amp to 2 channels. I ran my door speakers parallel to drop the ohms to 4 each. Now, I’m gonna add 4 crossovers(4ohms) each and 4 tweeters(4ohms) each. What will my ohms be on each set?? I mean each door?

As long as you don't bring it below 2 ohms per channel or 4 ohms per side bridged as each channel sees 2 ohms like that

Do i set the crossover to full or HPF?
Doing this , my amp melted so I connected the wires to the Reeses cups and they melted to . Now I have to buy more Reeses cups . Much cheaper than buying new speakers .

Wire 2 6x9 parallel and then connect it bridge to channel 1 and 2 and then wire the other 2 6x9 parallel and connect it bridge to channel 3 and 4

I have a taramps 4x400. I want to hook up 4 100 watt 4 ohm midrange speakers per channel and have 4 4ohm tweeters cross overed from each speaker. I want to give them as much power as possible (100watt each). Can I simply connect each speaker to their own channel and be done? Also my midrange speakers range from 200Hz - 16Khz, does this mean I select the high pass filter (HPF) for both channels? Thanks!

I have two 4ohm 6.5 coaxials and one 4ohm subwoofer.
Am I correct that the coaxials will use up channels 1 and 2, while the subwoofer will take up channels 3 and 4 bridged?

You can wire two 4 ohm single voice coil to each channel its a 2 ohm load ..
That's what I was thinking. If you wire 2 SVC 4 ohm speakers bridged, it should be 2 ohm
psychic, wow I just got the 1ohm taramps 800x4 in the mail today.. and i was wondering about that 6 terminals instead of 8. I dont know what car I am putting the amp in. I got pioneer ts m650 midbase speakers. on the way along with ds18 pro titanium pro tweeters. Im really hoping to get clearly Loud mid's and high's in my cars.

Hay bro I has a question. I have the 2000x4 the 2 ohms model an I have 2 DS18 8s 8 ohms an 2 DS18 10s 8 ohms as well mid-range..I want to bridge them what is the final impedance output all speaker wired separately from the box going to the amplifier. Can get some advice on that please and thank you
How do I hook up 4 skar 6.5 4 ohms
If your only putting 1 speaker per channel . Just hook it up like he said in the beginning with the 4 ohm reese's lol. It will give a 4 ohm load. If your trying to run 8 speakers. Say 4 tweeters and 4 6.5s. You wire the tweeters positives together and negatives together on channel 1&2. Wire the 4 6.5s the same. Positive to positive & negative to negative.
4) 8 ohm tweeters would give you a 4ohm final impedance
4) 4 ohm 6.5s would be a 2 ohm final impedance

I have 4 4 ohm speakers i have one speaker per channel and it gets hot as hell. So if im understanding this right i should wire two of the 4 ohm speakers together on one channel and that gives me 2 ohms correct??

This amp is weird, I have an issue with the sensitivity of the gain level. Seems like it has too much power or the gain is very sensitive !

With this Amp I didn't set gains with a DMM I set gains by ear. As in I had someone put his face right next to my door speakers and listen to my tweeters as I turned them up and once he began hearing the sound change he yelled for me to stop and I backed off a hair

I just got this amp and I want to run my chuchero box how do I wire it the chuchero is a box with 2 8” prv mids and 2 3” tweeters inside the box I believe there all ran parallel together inside the box because the wire coming out the box only has a positive and negative speaker wire coming out please let me know I also wanted to run my selenium horn driver also but it not connected to the box ... please let me know if this is possible thank you I’m using a lc2i so I only have one set of rca available because the other rca to the lc2i is connected to my subwoofer amp

How about the other side?
other side is just rca in, gain knobs (one per side) and the switch so you can switch each individual side to only play lows (subs) mids or just highs.
I blew mines putting it at two ohms had no idea why until now

So let's say I'm running 2 6x9 and 2 6x8 which are 4ohm and 2 super tweeters idk think they are 4ohm also plus 2 other smaller tweeters which should I get 1 or 2 ohm 800watt taramps?
2 ohm as long as you get speakers that are either 4 ohms or 8 ohms. Feel free to ask me to clarify why
@Silentjustin06 please clarify this for me. I have (4) 6.5" 4 ohm speakers that I want to run, 2 speakers bridged on each channel. That should be 2 ohm per bridged channel, correct?

8ohm and 8ohm is 4ohm , 4ohm and 4 ohm is equal to 2 ohm, 2ohm and 2 ohm is 1 ohm
that's if you're bridging the speakers...if you run the speakers separately to it's own channel then the channel stays that same ohm

I got 4 300rms doors speaker plus 4 super tweeters and 3 4inch for mids can this work

If you don’t wire it down to two ohms you will not get the full wats out of the channel

size of the speaker gives no information as far as what an amp can or cant run. as long as you dont wire it below 1 ohm per channel you are fine
If the speakers Are around 220 rms put the two speaker wires together and bridge it so that way you’re getting the full power
I'm pretty sure the center terminal is a dummy terminal where your + and - make contact, thus dropping your 2 8ohm speakers to 4ohms. Anyone?
alot of people look at these amps like this and freak all the way the hell out and even when you show them in person they freak out about it because thats traditionally not how this works with korean multichannels and you have to pretty much force them to wire it up full of fear and all then when they see it playing after they have wired it up first hand they sit in shock and awe lol.

It depedents on the abuse hahaha well i have a hd8k and i got 2 400x4 i have never play them below 12.8V the lowest always 13.4V, 14s And they are doing good i have 2hdc4 15s at 1ohm on the 8k almost 2 years
I had an hd 3k played it with no extra battery for a year on 2 sdr 10s so yeah I’ll say it’s good

4 4 ohm speakers in parallel is 1 ohm so u less your amp is 1 ohm stable do not do it

So you probably can but after so many runs it does it troublesome. The solution i found was to take a dual input like a dual 1/0 to single 1/0 and i ran all the wires for 8 different speakers into one side and had a single wire come out the other. Worked perfectly

depends if single voice coil 3 ohm speakers you can wire them to 0.75 or 12 ohms
if dual voice coil 3 ohm your options are
parallel: 0.38 ohms
series: 24 ohms
series/ parallel: 1.5 ohms
parallel/ series: 6 ohms
Make no sense. Why can't you run 2ohms on a 2 ohms amp. My speakers are 2ohms out the box

This dude is fried. Doesn't know what he is talking about. How u take a svc 8ohm speaker and run it to 2ohm channels? Then he says u bridge the 8ohm speaker on bridge mode to a 4 ohm load at the amp?
