Happened to my old FN2, had J&R replacements for 2 years after and all good. No other issues in 3 year ownership, only standard maintenance. Had mine lowered, Michelin PS4 tyres, remapped etc was fun and handled great. 👌
Driveshafts are only a week point if you constantly keep on raging um in first gear...that's the worst gear to rag any car in beacuse the revs shoot up fast then there's the dreaded snatch from 1st into 2nd that's where the damage is done that goes for any car...
@H4Haris first gear is the worst gear to rag any car in m8 then the snatch from first into second 😬 it's no good for any car constantly doing that....2nd to 3rd gear isn't to bad 3rd to 4th is ok but not 1st to 2nd from a dead start puts to much pressure on
I second that, think what would happen if someone stepped out? My father in law has just lost his life due to someone like you, he was just crossing a road and was hit, he had no chance....think on, could you live with yourself?
@H4Haris I'm dailying it so I'm not going crazy with cams or anything I'll probably aim for about 260 I have a tegiwa 70mm and a japspeed manifold and intake ill probably buy a rbc manifold and call it a day
just so I'm understanding what happened, the drive shaft is not that great in these fn2s and it seems to happen if you rally it hard from 1st to 2nd gear? I'm new to the Honda scene myself and I'm going to be picking up an FN2 type r gt 08 plate next week, so learning all about them atm and wondering if this should be top of the list to get swapped out? thanks.
@@H4Haris driveshafts break mostly because of rust caused by vibration dampers??(i dont know exact name). Its like round rubber thing that actually doesnt change anything when you remove it. It causes problems as dirt etc. gets stuck under it, creating rust and in effect breaking drive shafts :)

How do EP3's handle better - its called independent rear suspension, not a torsion bar, although a torsion bar done well (i.e Peugeot) can be good !
Same thing happened to my EP3. RAC guy said driveshaft straight away before looking 😂 Massive relief as I thought the gearbox was toast

It’s actually because of a design flaw causing the driveshaft to rust. But yeah first is deffo the worst gear to rag it in

When I went from an ep3 to fn2, I hated the Rev Hang between gears. The fn2 would have been good with a k24.
Yeah a k24 bottom end and k20 head would have been perfect for it

What year FN2 was it? Driveshaft will rust so the snapping is pretty common especially if it’s a ~2007
Was a 2008. You’re right it is an older car so certain components will break

The driveshafts are weak in both ep3s and fn2s. They are older cars now so I would recommend upgrading to j&r driveshafts.

The suspension is crap, there not fast, and they don’t look great, that’s why there not that popular, the EP3 is a slightly better car.
