Mark, I would think that I’d get tired of seeing the Tehachapi line shot and posted so many times, but the scenery, and in this case you really took a good clear video, makes these enjoyable every time that you show them! What a marvel of civil engineering to go through these hills.

It's always nice to know how the railroads work. A series of where trains start and terminate would be fun to learn. I hope you are able to do so. Great catches with a subscriber.

I've had a few people suggest that. I'll have to do some research. Maybe a project for this summer while I'm staying out of the heat!

so nice to see you out on the tracks! it amazes me at some of the lengths of trains running
in that area. most are just huge! here on the 60 to 80 cars except for the big runs to N.Y. CITY.
take care and be safe! barry

Hey that was a great video Mark. It was good to meet Ed. He really seemed to enjoy himself. That’s some beautiful country up there. It makes for good train videos. Good job. 👍❤️

Very cool, Mark. Nicely done, I would love to visit with you out there sometime, very cool! (Dave).

Good shots today Mark. The Sd70 was smoking due to lack of oxygen in the tunnel, though it seemed excessive for such a short tunnel? Maybe dirty air filters...I would assume Canada has stricter emissions than the US ?
    Cheers Gregg.

I was with another subscriber the following week and that same locomotive was in the consist and was much more spectacular! I was shooting at that time, but have a great pic. It will be in an upcoming video. I don't know about Canada's restrictions, I was just being goofy!

@@MarkClayMcGowan Ah yes , the old US /CAnada digsLOL We do the same with NEw Zealand. Watching the clip again Mark , you see the smoke stop and start for a second as it leaves the tunnel, so the old girl certainly has fuel delivery issues? It's still cool to see the "black fog" coming out of tunnels!.
      Thanks and cheers.
      Gregg.

Hi Ed, I live just a couple of hours drive north of Charlotte. I was out there in Tehachapi in may but Mark was out of town and i didn't get to meet him. We had a great time at the depot in town.

Thanks for the video Mark! BTW. how the weather in death valley in the Sept. ?

    • @MarkClayMcGowan
      @MarkClayMcGowan  ปีที่แล้ว

My pleasure. It's still hot there in September, but as long as you are dressed appropriately, have PLENTY of water, and don't stray too far from your vehicle, it's doable!

Researching engines to find out why CN 5601 was smoking so bad, I discovered it is an EMD SD70I. Didn't find out why so much smoke, but I did find only 26 were made and CN bought all 26. I for "isolated' maybe. The cab is isolated from the frame with rubber gaskets.
I just noticed the end DPU was also 5601!

Someone said something about being oxygen starved in the tunnel? I just enjoy a good smoke show now and again!

Being a retired surveyor who did a lot of rail construction I like your videos. I also would like to know who makes that hat you wear?

The tag is too worn to see, but I bought it at a Walmart about three years ago. I wish I'd bought a few!

Mark, did you notice you caught the 2 x 5601's (at tunnel 5 - the smoking CN and rear DPU) that I caught next to each other in the same consist at heading West at Seligman on May 23rd?! Stephen.
