I am in the same predicament. Day 2 of trying to set up light burn. I have a new Chinese FL1390. Light burn cant find my model. Any pointers? Out here in MN.

Great video series. I have a non-Ortur generic GRBL machine - Bachin Maker 4050P that I was able to make work and fairly closely follow your videos. I'm pretty experienced with 3D printing with a couple of Anet A8's and Creality Ender 3 Pros under my belt, but Laser Engraving is very new to me. We bought the Bachin a few years ago as a present for my wife and she never got around to using it until very recently.
It's easy to forget some of the things that new folks go through, and I wanted to provide an example that might help someone. One thing that I had to dig through information for but might be helpful would be the method to check and modify firmware settings for non-Ortur printers. Mine had the $32 off like you'd want for a CNC machine, and I had to use the $$ - VIew Setting command and of course $32=1 when I found it was set to zero. My initial image print times went from 18 hours to 2... Quite a change!
Now I'm hooked and want to get an Ortur for myself so I can leave the older lower power engraver for my wife's hobbies!

Hey Jim, this was by far the best video I have found so far to help with my setup of Atomstack a5 pro. However, I have NO clue how to get my laser to connect to the device. I am not sure if my computer has GRBL or something different. It keeps saying unable to connect with laser. ANY help at all would be so so appreciated. How do I know which controller I have on my computer? I have a Macbook Air.
Do you have any tips on how to correctly align the LM2? Tensioning of the belts and rods, squaring the frame, etc. The more detailed calibration and alignment of the machine. Having a few problems making my work grid actually square. I've checked the FB group, but was thinking you might be able to put out a video to visually describe it all.
Hi Jim, love your videos. I just got this same Laser. When I hook it up the blue light stays on but the red light blinks and I can't do anything. It doesn't home like it should. I checked all the wiring and all is good. Any idea what this might be? When I first got it assembled I turned it on and it homed correctly. Now that I got around to connecting it to Lightburn I turn it on and get the blinking red light.
If it doesn't find the laser because maybe you setup a manual device before receiving your unit to try out lightburn, change the the com port next to 'devices' button to 'choose' and run find my laser again. Worked for me.

Hello, Thank a lot for your video. I got mine since few days ago, and honestly, was terrible to start from zero. I had before a small laser (8cm * 8cm) without any possible configuration. Easy to use, but very restrictive. This one is super cool :) and thanks to use your time to share all of your knowledge to us, really appreciated. Bonjour from France ;)

Hi fond your video on the ortur laser master 2pro s2 and put an extension kit to it, and set up lightburn for the new size 400 x 800mm but the the engraver will only move by 400 x 400mm can you help.

There should be something within settings within lightburn to turn it on, they have videos online on how to fix this issue.

Hi There, just bought my Neje master 2s Plus, and im getting in troubles using it with it with Lightburn. first question when i move the arrow up it goes down and the same for left and right, how to fix it please. Thanks.

Your video helped - I have the Ortur Laser Master Pro 2.. It seems to woerk BUT on powering up Lightburns the printer homes - and keeps trying to go further front left without success of course but making a horrible noise - so I have to turn off the auto home. Any thoughts? I have the y limit wsitch on the two microswitch tags closest to the frame. I'm wondering if thats an issue...

I have everything setup and my y axis will go the full 430 mm but my x axis says it’s going the full 400mm but only goes about half of that distance any thoughts of what I should check?

Hi Jim, I watch your videos and really like how you teach. I am a newbie and have difficulty with Software and File conversions from Picture to Laserburn. Can you suggest which video is best for a beginner like myself. I have a 60th Anniversary party for my In-Laws next month and I really wanted to do 100 White Tiles with their Wedding Picture and Dates yet I am really struggling getting the Tiles to burn. do you know how to get an anycubic pro laser to fire in lightburn everything moves but will not turn on done all manual setup tried all the baud rates s values and transfer modes tried anycubic and lightburn no good info from them
So I set everything up per your instructions and it recognised it and it's burning now now. But when I burn everything is reversed from left to right. I went in to device settings and the origin is set for the upper left hand. On the screen it looks perfect but when it burns it is reversed.

I'm getting the message , Homing cycle is not enabled in your Grbl settings. Any suggestions? I am TOTALLY NEW to this.
Just got ortur master 2 setup and downloaded lightburn. Thw grids are not lining up. According to lightburn my laser is 0/0 in left corner home but laser is actually almost past middle of grid.
Which flavor of light burn did you choose?
Gcode or GRBL licence?
For this you only need the grbl one. But I have the full one now because of CO2 lasers. And the full version will run both types.
Hey Jim, I am stuck a bit and in need of advice.
Im using a FoxAlien 20w fixed lense diode.
Through Lightburn it took me 43 minutes and about 15 passes running at 85sp/85pow to cut a small shape on 2mm Birch ply. Somethings defo not right! Any ideas or suggestions?
I've done the basic setup on grbl (James Dean Design) and have my z sweet spot. What should my grbl settings be for this laser, approx. 5w output (supposedly)? All help v much appreciated and keep up the vids! They're awesome

Might as well go with the 20w if you have the funds. Otherwise the 15 will do great
Why when downloading the latest firmware 1.90 it will not copy to the mother board. It keeps saying I have version 1.85 that came on the machine. I bought it last week ( Ortur laser master 2 pro S2). Where does the firmware need to be on my computer for the laser to find it.

I do have one of those! Setting it up is just about the same actually! Just use the correct dimensions for the build area other than that not much different. The only issue I have with it is there are no end stops so you have to tell it where home is.

I cant seem to get the machine to line up correctly with the work area in Lightburn. I have set the size of the worspace to 380mm x 300mm but the when pointing the lazer to move to certain places it seems to not line up correctly. I'm wondering if I need to input "Machine Settings" into Lightburn in order to get it to align correctly?
At times when trying to send the lazer pointer to a place the motors make a kind of grinding sound. It's as if it's trying to go to unrecognised co-ordinates outside of the grid if that makes sense.
I went through all the steps and I still can't get it to connect? I just purchased a WeCreat Lazer. Not sure what on earth I Al doing wrong ? I have it connected with a usb.
It does show com4 but when I click on it does not do anything .. please help!

I have only just bought the LMPro 2. I opened my photos and dragged the photo into the grid and it automatically inverted it into a black and white image.

What if I created it manually and it still does not connect?
I am having so many issues with light burn and Mac. Successfully configured once but the commands weren't correct now it will not find device. Argh

I had my Lazer connected to light burn but I haven’t used it and now it’s not finding it what do I do
Double check that both ends of the usb cable are plugged in. One to the laser, the other to the pc. Reboot the pc. If that doesn't work you can try unplugging the lasers power. Then holding the power button for 20 seconds. Then plug the laser back in. Let me know if any of that helped.

You can Ctrl click open and it should work. I still can't get it to connect with Mac however.
I keep getting a error message "couldn't find limit switch within search distance." The laser moves all the way to the right and hits the end and sits there clicking until I hit the stop button. Any ideas whats wrong?
Origin in the wrong position for your laser? another possibility is if your stepper motor current is going the wrong way (check connections, make sure nothing got plugged in upside down) good luck!

I have tried absolutely everything to home my lasrer. All it does is got to the left bottom corner, and hit connector and shake. I cannot find how to actually home the laser. Where can I find the setting? I am user Lightburn with a Mac not a pc.
It sounds like your end stop switch is not engaging or the wires are backwards.
If you tell it to home and then hit that switch in the bottom left with your finger does it stop?
@@TheEdgeofTech No it doesn’t stop. It hits the limiter, and then judders for about 10 seconds. The green square is in the bottom left corner. It has been like this since I first used it, only had it for 10 days.
@@paulbullows9638 I would check the wiring on the end stop switch. If it's backwards or not plugged in it will do that

Hey so we have ours set up, we are to the point where you click “go”. We click go and nothing happens. We don’t have any of the information where it says Get position.
When you turn on the laser, does it home to the bottom left? Then plug it into the computer, and open light burn. It should home again. Does it do that?
I love starting something really late in the evening, when you’re already exhausted from the last 2 days, and trying to figure out something completely foreign.. said no one ever... except my husband, whose down stairs cussing. PLEASE HELP US!!!! SOS

No worries, change the name of the file and try again. If that doesn't work, jump on the Facebook group and chat Gil. He is their support and can tell you how to fix it quick.
