    Braveheart has one of my favorite film soundtracks of all time. And one of only a few I own along with Blade Runner, October Sky, and 28 Days Later.
    The score was done by James Horner who is one of the greatest film composers in the history of cinema. He also composed for Titanic, Field of Dreams, Glory, and many other classic films.
    He tragically died in a plane crash in 2015. And his early passing only makes his work even more moving, special, and iconic than it already was.

I love when new reactors come from Marvel and DC films completely blind and are invested from first moments, then emotionally wrecked, gotten inspired just to be wrecked again and then be inspired. The rollercoater of emotion, amazing direction and sheer performance in these films with absolutely amazing scores hit so hard. Out of all Braveheart reactions this is my favourite. His execution was made more palatable for US movie audiences. The actual execution was done with the traditional method of being hung, drawn and quartered.
    He was dragged by horse naked through the streets to the site of the execution. Then he was hung, but not until death (as they showed). He was then castrated, disemboweled, his bowels burned, then beheaded and his body cut into four parts.
    His head was dipped in tar and put on a spike at London bridge, with the other four parts of his body on display at other locations.
    Yes, we have come up with horrific ways to kill each other. And no, once somebody is sentenced to that kind of execution, nobody would dare try to save you.

Inertia alone of 2,000lbs of trained warhorse, barding and armoured rider would literally crush a lightly or non armoured infantryman. Plus the ability to move and close at speed, inside a longbow volley……a morally breaking opponent to be sure.

    You might want to react to DRACULA by Francis Ford Coppola, with Keanu Reeves, Gary Oldman and Wynona Rider.
    I found that Vlad Tepes the Impaler fought his biggest battle against the Ottomans, on BULGARIAN soil.
    One of history's worst monsters - although he got the impaling idea out of the Ottomans themselves and the Sultan even admired him for it. WTF.
    None of this is specified in the film but I thought you, or some viewers, might be interested.

      @AZURAKAZ ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I love everything about Bram Stoker's Dracula. People criticize Keanu's accent, but I find it endearing. The harkening back to films like Nosferatu. Oldman is like a force of nature in the role of the count. I've heard also that it borrows from the D&D Ravenloft setting, with the romance for Strahd and Irina echoing in the romantic entanglements in the Coppola film.

      @luketimewalker ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AZURAKAZ Oh nice! I was an avid D&D player once upn a time, and we were supposed to play Ravenloft but the group disbanded about that time with everyone going to university and stuff.
      Hey, i you haven't played the legendary game Planescape: Torment, you really should. Scenario by Chris Avellone, it's a fantastic trip. You can probably find it for a buck or two.

    The New World by Terrence Malick ( 2005 ) , Agora ( 2009 ) and Barry Lyndon ( 1976 ) by Stanley Kubrick are my favourite historical films and i heartily recoomend them Trixy!! Especially the former and the latter were RELIGIOUS OUT OF THIS WORLD CINEMATIC EXPERIENCES to see live at the theater. Nothing like it since... on the sci fi unique films i would also say Blade Runner ( 1982 ) with harrison ford was amazing to see at the cinemas when they released the directors cut in 08. Its a very fmaous cult movie with a huge following and hearted debate over it for decades now... And recently they made a sequel also very worth watching! all these filmes, deserve big screen cinema experience or at least a big home screen or a big wide HDTV. Enjoy!

    51:40 You are so right that the scene is like now when "authorities" be it the news, government, or education tell the people to hate someone and they do it without even knowing why. I am glad to see that perspective taken and not the opposite perspective of "how could people not have seen this happening at that time" without understanding how the same tactics are still being used now. Granted things in that area have amped up over the last few years, but it makes me helpful that people, eapecially young people can recognize and relate to it as it happens even to them now. History might not repeat itself because of that.

    I know this film is notorious for being plenty inaccurate and changing many details, but I to believed Edward II WAS indeed "Defeated by Scots at Bannockburn" in 1314.

    Of all the inaccuracies of this movie, the biggest one might be a little girl just plucking the flower off a thistle. Those things are tough, spicy and difficult to cut. It might be why they are the symbol of Scotland.

    I have heard of Prima Nochte but I have heard that (if it was ever used at all) it was meant as an excuse to instigate a fight with the local people. troops would be brought in to a nearby area then Prime Nochte would be declared. When a lord would say he was going to take the newly married woman to his bed, the inevitable reaction would turn violent (as anyone would). At that point, the troops waiting for the violent reaction would come in and attack the locals in order to beat down the local population and oppress them. It is a really terrible thing to do. I am surprised the Church would not object.

    In the movie, it seemed most of the English soldiers were conscripts, meaning drafted men. Not well trained and recently taken from farms or the like. Not sure if that's historical to the battle but for the movie, that's probably the case. The Scots were passionate and inspired

    It is no wonder this movie would inspire you and touch something deep inside, your grandparents could probably relate to it even more strongly as people who lived through the tyranny and deprivation of Russian communism that oppressed Bulgaria for decades following the literal slavery you knew for centuries under the Ottoman Turks.
